From November onwards, the streets of London are lit up with a beautiful display of glittering lights making Christmas shopping trips an enjoyable experience. The lights are focused around a theme each year, and this year the Regent Street lights in the capital celebrate the 2012 Olympics.
As well as Regent Street, there are light displays throughout Oxford Street and Carnaby Street, all of which are within walking distance. Whether you’re shopping or simply sitting in one of the many coffee shops in the area, the lit up capital is sure to delight!
There are plenty of festive concerts during Christmas to keep you entertained whether its family-friendly sing-alongs, carol singing or world-famous singers and orchestras – you’ll find it all during Christmas time in London. For carol singing, head to Trafalgar Square in the evening where you will find various groups performing Christmas carols to raise funds for charitable organizations.

If you’re looking for something a little different, London has a great burlesque and cabaret scene. From dancing girls to unique pantomimes, there are a number of unique events at any night of the week, all throughout the city. Christmas would not be Christmas without a good festive market. Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is a big hit with families, friends and couples. There is plenty to see and do including an ice rink, shows, observation wheel, rides and a huge Christmas market.
If there is one market you must attend, it is the Southbank Centre Christmas Market. Beautifully lit, German style wooden chalets align the river Thames and make for a scenic walk from the London Eye to Waterloo Bridge.
