Epic Getaway Series: Cozumel

Located off the Caribbean Sea opposite of Playa del Carmen, Cozumel is Mexico’s third largest island that sets itself apart from the country’s main resort strips. The island is undoubtedly unique, offering guests a different and unconventional peek at what Mexico embodies.

The shores of Cozumel.

Many areas in Mexico are rich in history and Cozumel is one of them. This island offers an incredibly transparent look at the country’s past. With the island being one of the first land settlements for the Mayan people, ancient artifacts, ruins, and temples still remain intact, giving travelers a beautiful, honest and candid landscape of Mexico.

The island also offers some of the most breath-taking views of the island’s natural beauty. Cozumel is home to the largest reef system in the Americas. It acts as home to hundreds of vibrant, colorful, and exotic sea-life, rarely seen anywhere else in the world.

The exotic wildlife isn’t limited to the ocean either. The land is covered y lush tropical forests and jungles, teeming with exotic creatures.

Aside from its wilderness, the spirit of the island also lives in the colorful culture and warm hospitality of the people. The rich traditions practiced and expressed on this island are what make it one-of-a-kind.

What’s most enticing about the island is that it offers something unique from the usual hustle and bustle of resort living (if there is ever such a thing). Indeed, it’s a gem of an island situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.
