As the holidays draw to a close, many are celebrating prospective new beginnings. Without a doubt, the holiday season is when we experience the most inquiries for weddings!

While the notion of a beach wedding would be ultra-romantic, it is a completely different beast compared to a traditional wedding.

With a plethora of destinations, resorts, and beaches to choose from, the choices can be incredibly overwhelming.

Where do you start?!

It’s really fun to dream of the end result of your “dream wedding.” However, it’s also sensible to take destination wedding planning one step at a time.

If you’re stuck on where to start, here are a few things to think about to narrow your choices down.

1) Location

It’s good to take into consideration how you envision the “backdrop” of your wedding ceremony. Are you looking for a beach backdrop, or would you rather opt for a location within the property? It’s also good to consider the “style” of beach you would ideally like (e.g. white sand with blue waters etc.). While any resort destination possesses a stretch of beach, all of them vary from each other (take for example, the quality beaches in Puerto Vallarta versus Cancun).

2) Resort

In addition to location, determining the resort is also an important element in destination weddings. Consider the ambiance of the property. Were you looking forward to a trip with plenty of rest and relaxation, or a place that offers lots of on-property activities and excursions? It’s also good to keep guests in mind as well – guests who have kids would be more suited in an activity-filled family, friendly property, rather than one that is quieter.

3) Budget

The last factor to take into consideration during the beginning stages of destination wedding planning is the amount that you and your guests are willing to spend while on vacation. The saying of “you get what you pay for,” definitely rings true with destination weddings. Take into consideration the season that you’ll want your wedding to fall on as well as any special events or occasions that might affect the cost of your stay.

Of course, there are a plethora of factors to think about when planning your destination wedding. If you have any questions about destination weddings, speak to one of our Destination Wedding Specialists at 1-888-685-6888 today.
