A few blog posts ago, we talked about what things to look for in a perfect wedding dress.
Saying 'yes' to the dress is one step of the bridal beauty process.
Bridal make-up, would be one of the final touches to complete the look. Primping and prepping on your big day is fun. However, having a destination wedding changes your beauty regime a bit. With the hot weather, humidity, and ocean air, there are a few things to keep in mind when getting beauty-ready for your wedding.
Here are some of her tips:
Prep, prep, prep!
When it comes to Destination Wedding bridal make-up, a majority of the work is actually done BEFORE the big day.
Caring for your skin even before the nuptials is important. This means getting plenty of sleep prior to the big day to avoid puffiness, drinking plenty of water, and most importantly, protecting your skin on-destination (where you will constantly be under the hot sun).
Lather on plenty of sun-block on or wear an adorable sun hat to keep your face from getting too burnt. Skin prepping not only guarantees a flawless complexion for the big day, but it will also avoid sunburns, which not only is it painful, but a bit of a nightmare to deal with on your wedding day.
Work with the Elements
One challenge you will experience on-destination is getting your make-up regime to work with the elements.
Applying matte face primer over your face moisturizer will guarantee smooth application and your make-up lasting all day. Avoid a face moisturizer with SPF as it will cause your makeup to slide off (especially with the hot and humid weather). Most foundations will have a slight SPF in their products to help you protect your face on the day.
Despite sharing the name “primer,” a shadow primer has a different consistency, allowing the pigment of the shadows to last all day without creasing. This is definitely a necessity if you’re using shadow as part of your look!
Lastly, set it all with a translucent powder and setting spray to ensure that everything stays in place. Don’t forget to use waterproof mascara and liner to keep your eyes looking polished if water works start!
Be comfortable in your own skin!
Regardless of whatever look you’re going for, the most important tip is to ensure that you are comfortable with how you look and the features you were wishing to highlight comes through. It is your wedding day, after all. So feel free to call the shots!
