Destination Weddings 101: Guest Favors

Saying-thank-you-destination-wedding

Wedding favors are usually an essential element for any wedding. Aside from adding to your big day aesthetically, it’s a great way to show appreciation to your guests who’ve attended your wedding day.

For destination weddings, guest favors are incredibly important (we think even more so than your traditional wedding). Though it entails jet-setting to a sunny and fun destination, at the end of the day, your guests are still investing their money and vacation time for you!

Here are some ideas in making your guest favors one-of-a-kind. More importantly, these gifts are practically DIY-friendly! (Take that, Pinterest):

Tote bags are a great way to prep guests for a busy week ahead.

Vacation Survival Kit Tote Bags: Prepare your guests for a week of fun and wedding festivities with tote bags that contain all of the vacation essentials that will help them get through a potentially wild week in paradise. Include things like your week itinerary, Advil (for those nights when your guests might’ve had a little too much), beach towel (try incorporating your wedding colors or even customizing with your wedding date), sunglasses, and other trinkets that will help your guests coast through a potential raucous week.

Luggage tags are great way to get your guests excited for the week.

Luggage Tags: Anticipating the trip is an exciting part of the whole destination wedding experience. Why not sweeten the waiting process by sending your guests a gift not only meant to excite them, but to help with their packing. Luggage tags are great little gifts that are not only useful for your guests, but you can customize them to fit your wedding theme.

Sunglasses are great to keep guests comfortable during an outdoor ceremony.

Parasols not only add shade, but a romantic touch to your ceremony.

Umbrellas & Sunnies: Destination Weddings are HOT, as they are beautiful. Regardless of location, date, or time, you and your guests are bound to experience weather that is a tad warmer than what you’re familiar with. Protect your guests from getting the dreaded heat stroke during the big day, by gifting them with parasols or sunglasses. As with the other gift ideas we’ve already listed, the beauty of these guest favors is that they are customizable!

Partnering with the Resort:  Collaborating with the resort is a great avenue, if you’re a little short on time, but would like to leave a little something special to thank your guests. Resorts have a plethora of extra amenities that can easily be delivered to your guests’ rooms. You can easily coordinate this prior to your arrival or during your meeting with the onsite wedding coordinators. The beauty of this option, is that it’s virtually hassle free, yet still delivers the message that you’re appreciative of your guests attending.

If there are special pre or post wedding events that you’ve planned while everyone is on destination, make sure that you communicate this clearly with your guests. Publish these events on your wedding website/blog, if you have one. A little reminder never hurt anyone, so if you have time, create brochures or postcard-sized flyers that outline all of these events and have them delivered to each of your guests’ rooms.

Wedding favors are an elegant way of showing appreciation to your guests. Regardless of whatever gift you choose, you can be assured that the message of love and appreciation will be there.
