Creating a wedding budget is a top priority when it comes to Destination Wedding Planning.
Sure, destination weddings may end up costing a less than what you would have at home, but let’s face it - it’s good to save when you can!
There are some wedding elements that are definitely worth splurging for.
Here are some of them!
SPLURGE ON…the wedding venue and accommodations. In addition to this being the backdrop of your nuptials, your venue might also be you and your guests’ accommodations. The days leading up to your wedding might be a tad busy (and sometimes stressful)! There’s nothing better than staying at a property that does its best to remedy pre-wedding jitters.
SAVE ON…your guest count. In a perfect world, you’d want EVERYONE to attend your wedding! With most (if not all) destination weddings, there is a cost that comes with every attendee. From ceremony to the dinner reception, you’re bound to pay per guest for the services offered throughout the day. This can add up EASILY if you’re not careful.
SPLURGE ON… the wedding package. If you’re having a resort wedding, chances are you will be given three wedding packages to choose from (one being the most basic, to the most lavish). Depending on what you’re looking for, there is value in splurging on wedding packages with the highest price point, as they cover the cost of important wedding elements like the ceremony and dinner reception, for a set amount of guests. They may also cover some aspects of your décor as well!
SAVE ON…the décor. As with most weddings, things tend to add up! Décor is no exception. Wedding packages set by resorts may have some décor elements for you to choose from. Don’t feel like you’re obligated to choose between what they offer you! Resorts are definitely open to tailoring pieces to fit your vision (and with little to no cost). Don’t forget, you’re also getting married in one of the most beautiful destinations in the world! Sometimes the beautiful beach backdrop speaks for itself when it comes to décor.
SPLURGE ON…DIY Thank-you favors. If Pinterest is your best friend, then this would definitely be the best part about wedding planning. We may have mentioned it in a past blog post, but wedding favors for your guests (especially for destination weddings) are incredibly important. They invested time and money into your big day, so it’s only fair to do the same.
SAVE ON…resort amenities for guests. Thank-you favors are important. However, sometimes organizing little thank-you trinkets with the resort can get a little costly (especially if you’re planning to do this for ALL of your guests). If you were pressed with time and energy and would rather have the resort arrange a little ‘thank-you’ for your guests, opt for an event (like a welcome dinner), instead. Not only is this a genuine way to personally show your gratitude, but it’s a great way to get both sides of the family to meet before the big day!
