When it comes to weddings, at the end of the day, the details should ultimately be YOUR decision. This includes your guest list!
Without a doubt, you are entitled to invite whoever you want, including an adults-only wedding!
However, it’s good to acknowledge that not all guests would be open to the idea, and that it can be a bit of a touchy subject. Here are just a few things to keep in mind when you’ve decided on an adults-only wedding:
Inform the guests
There is a way to successfully communicate that you will host an adults-only wedding, without necessarily using the words “adults-only” in the initial invitation.
Addressing specific guests on the RSVP card and putting more details and info on your wedding website are great ways to clearly communicate that your wedding is meant for the grown-ups.
Having family members and your wedding party spread the word also ensures that your request is communicated with tact.
Give Guests Options
Having an adults-only destination wedding can be tough, especially if a good portion of your guests have children that they'd want to travel with. If your guests are questioning why younger ones were not invited, make sure that you address the sensitive topic and explain some of the constraints that come with inviting virtually everyone to your wedding.
Alternatively, there is a way to make your guests happy. Give them the option of traveling with the entire family, but in turn you make babysitting arrangements during the day of the wedding so that kids are entertained while grown-ups can celebrate with you.
