The travel portion of your destination wedding is one big aspect of the day. The other, consists of picking all of the nitty-gritty details (like décor, menu items, floral pieces…the list goes on), and putting it together to create something spectacular!
Our Destination Wedding Specialists will coordinate travel dates with available wedding dates at the resort, then puts you in touch with the onsite wedding team to plan the elements of your big day.
This system we have, is definitely a match made in heaven!
We took the opportunity to go on-location, getting to know Marcela, the on-site Wedding Coordinator for the Dreams Los Cabos Resort. With five years working in the Romance Department, it’s no surprise that she knows how to throw a Pinterest-worthy wedding!
Aside from wedding planning, Marcela particularly loves her job because (quite frankly), she loves where she works.
“The staff is treated like family, and there is a true sense of loyalty between everyone. The staff are happy, love what they do, and it shows!”
She thinks the Dreams Los Cabos Resort is a perfect place to host weddings. Los Cabos experiences VERY little rain (less than 6 days a year on average). But aside from the almost-perfect weather, this property offers a sense of privacy and intimacy- something that is hard to come by with most resorts.
“This resort doesn’t receive the amount of foot traffic that you might receive at other hotels and destinations. It is also very intimate, yet offers many activities for the whole family. We also have two outdoor ceremony areas – the beachfront gazebo and of course, the stunning Los Cabos beach.”
If you’re wondering exactly WHEN to host your wedding, Marcela recommends pretty much anytime of the year! May and October sees a lot more weddings than other months, while September experiences a lot less (it tends to be more humid, meaning a higher chance of rain…although it still does not tend to rain much)!
If you’re looking to host your wedding at a picture-perfect time (both literally and figuratively), try holding it between 4-6 pm, just before sunset. This will guarantee an absolutely breathtaking backdrop filled with vibrant colors that can only be captured around dusk.
For outdoor weddings, we always grapple with back-up plans, relying on Mother Nature to be on her best behavior! But what happens IF it does rain?!
“Brides will always be given a backup location indoors, which will be beautifully decorated. On the day of the wedding, I will stay in touch with my brides all day to discuss what the best options are available. If she still wants to get married outdoors, we can definitely accommodate that! If it does rain, it tends to be very brief anyways!”
Though a destination wedding means a week full of fun and relaxation, there are many other ways to enhance your stay at the resort. Upgrading to the Honeymoon Suite the day of, gives you extra room to get ready with your bridal party. If you’re looking to add even more romance to your trip, get a Couple’s Massage! It’s THE perfect way to relax and enjoy some alone time with your partner before the big day!
We can go on and on with these tips! However, of the advice that Marcela has given us, this definitely is on the top of the list:
“Trust your wedding coordinator. I am here to help you with everything that you need for your special day. We are both here to make sure your wedding is as stress free as possible!”
Our Destination Weddings Team definitely makes a point to create relationships with the onsite team, making wedding planning absolutely stress-free.
