Packing a welcome bag for wedding guests

Be sure to include welcome bags in your destination wedding

Your friends and family are set to join you as you celebrate the most special day of your life. You’ve decided on a destination wedding and you want to put together something that’s just for them. A welcome bag is a great way to do this! Here are some ideas for what to include.
It’s always a good idea to include the essentials in a welcome bag

Things like aspirin and bottles of water are especially handy to have. Bandages and a mini first aid kit are recommended. If there’s a chance your guests could be on boat, make sure to throw in some anti-nausea medication!

Be sure to include a letter to your guests, thanking them for joining you on your trip

If you can hand write the letter or even personalize it, that would be recommended. Be sure to also include any contact details they may need (i.e. if you have a different number while at the resort, even your room phone number will do) as well as a copy of the itinerary for their time there and the big day.

Another must-have item for your welcome bags are maps of the resort and/or surrounding areas

If possible try and get a detailed map of the nearest town and region you are in, including the ‘must see’ scenic and historical stops. You get bonus points if you include a pamphlet or suggestions regarding excursions your guests can check out. This is also a great way for guests to bond with each other before the big day!

This should include what kind of restaurants can be found on or near the resort as well as the suggested method of transportation (and ideally how far things are) is another welcome addition to your guest bags.

Don’t forget the kiddos!

Include something child-friendly in your welcome bags, if applicable. Ideas include toys, especially those that can be used on the beach, and snacks. Mom and dad will be sure to appreciate your thoughtfulness!

Perhaps the most important ingredient to include in a welcome bag is something ‘local'

Whether it be a hand-made souvenir or a local beverage like tequila, this adds a nice touch to any gift. Just be sure that any snacks you provide are allergen-free and don’t need to be refrigerated!

...Finally, It is a good idea to have your welcome bags double as beach bags. So opt for something large and made out of a durable material!
