CORINNE AND GREG: ROMANCE AT THE HYATT ZIVA PUERTO VALLARTA
While we love the white sandy beaches of destinations like Riviera Maya or Cancun, there is something to be said about Mexico’s west coast destinations like Puerto Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta is unlike any other location. Its rugged landscapes, cultural hubs and unique beaches make it an unconventional, yet charming destination for weddings.
In addition to its old city charm, Puerto Vallarta is home to some of the world's most beautiful sunsets. Vibrant bursts of colour that welcome the night sky make for the perfect photo backdrop for any destination wedding!
With its unique atmosphere and natural landscapes, Puerto Vallarta is a destination overflowing with romance and elegance. It is for these reasons that Corinne and Greg chose this destination as the place for their wedding. Here’s more behind their story and reasons for why they decided to say their “I dos” abroad.
On their story: Greg and I met online about 5 years ago. We had a couple of casual dates, then I went away travelling for a month. When I came back, we resumed contact and started dating again. It was pretty rocky at first (both of us were pretty set in our ways, in our 40's and didn't want to waste any time!). It was a rough start, with some compromise on both sides, but we decided to give the relationship a real chance. Thank goodness we did! Very much in love, we got engaged a few years later.
On Planning a Destination Wedding: A destination wedding was an easy decision. Our families and friends were scattered around the country and we wanted something small and intimate. The idea of escaping the cold weather for a sunny break was very appealing. Choosing a resort was definitely the most difficult part. Thankfully, with Ashley's help, we managed to narrow down the search to some solid resorts in Mexico.
On Choosing the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta: Ultimately, we decided on the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta. It stood out from the others for a few reasons. It was located on a beautiful private cove just outside of the old town, no resort bracelets needed to be worn, no reservations needed to be made to eat at the restaurants and absolutely everything was included. We couldn't have chosen a more perfect resort and we couldn't have had a more perfect wedding and honeymoon. It was everything we hoped it would be and more!
On Advice for other couples: One thing would be not to hesitate! It’s a wonderful way to get married - friends and family get to know each other before the wedding and of course you get to spend more than a rushed evening with your guests. It also makes a lot of sense for those couples who have friends and family that live in other parts of the country/world.
In terms of narrowing down your resort choice, choose a resort that you think MOST of your guests will enjoy. It’s a huge honour when someone decides to spend a week of their holidays at a place of YOUR choosing. It’s also good to consider the cost for your guests. Because again, it’s a lot to ask of friends and family.
Spend an extra few days or a week after the wedding - take time to have a honeymoon after all the guests have left. You will appreciate the time alone as newlyweds to enjoy the resort and have a much needed break after a hectic wedding week entertaining your guests.
If you are looking for a prime all-inclusive destination wedding resort in Puerto Vallarta, look no further than the family-friendly Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta. Located along a private bay near the Old Town neighbourhood, this property is truly one-of-a-kind. In addition to possessing stunning views (and sounds) of the ocean waves right from your room (something that is rarely encountered in most hotels), it's location also means ceremonies and receptions are held with a level of intimacy and privacy, something that is hard to find with most destination weddings!
