OUR DESTINATION WEDDING TRENDS FOR 2017
We’re still in the early into the year, but it looks like it’s going to be quite a vibrant one for destination weddings! Our Destination Wedding Specialists give their insights on the upcoming trends to look out for this year. Here’s what they had to say!
“A lot of destination wedding couples are moving away from traditional formalities of weddings. Instead they are creating a day that reflects their personalities. More couples hold their wedding ceremony during the dusk or evening and opt out of the traditional wedding structure, like having bridesmaids or not seeing the bride before the wedding. In fact, “first look” pictures are becoming more and more popular.” - Ashley
“Many couples who originally budgeted for a Canadian wedding, are choosing nicer resorts and offsetting travel costs for their guests with the money they'll save on a destination wedding. With an average savings of over $30 000, wedding couples are getting the dream destination they're looking for instead of compromising based on their guests' lean travel budgets." - Christine
“Wedding couples are now changing the way they’re saying ‘Thank You’ to guests. Instead of giving little trinkets as wedding favours, many couples are investing in group tours and excursions as a way to thank guests. It’s a great way to spend time together with close friends and family before the big day!” - Elizabeth
“More and more weddings are re-using their floral pieces for different events. Bouquets flowers held by bride and bridesmaids have “double-duty” during the day, and are also used on the tables as centrepieces. Not only is it budget-friendly, it also looks beautiful!” - Susan
“Beach destinations are very popular but there is a growing trend of couples hosting destination weddings in non all-inclusive resorts. Cruises are slowly becoming a popular wedding ‘destination’!” - Gabrielle
“A lot of couples are starting to move away from the usual sun destinations, hosting destination weddings in places that they and their guests have never experienced before. St. Martin is a great example of this” - Miranda
“Wedding couples are getting more creative and thinking "outside of the box," when it comes to destination wedding locations. I'm seeing more and more couples move away from beach ceremonies, taking advantage of the resort's beach gazebos, sky terraces and other unique ceremony locations. I think this is a total win-win for the wedding couple and their guests. Not only does it offer unique and fresh surroundings, but it also provides a level of privacy that is sometimes hard to achieve with beach weddings, not to mention, brides can also don their heels down the aisle (which is a big plus)!” - Pamela
