Jamaica really is the "cradle" of the modern all-inclusive, and today's resorts range from the small-scale quaint to the outstanding. This year, come discover the music, the beaches and the hospitality of Jamaica!
Our Opnion
Welcome to the Caribbean island you picture in your dreams: sugary sand beaches, lush tropical forests, rugged mountains and dazzling sunshine.

Add the uniquely Jamaican culture and hospitality and you'll see why this classic Caribbean destination is a hit with visitors from around the world.

Mountain breezes and northeast trade winds create a pleasant year round climate. You will find a tropical climate at sea level and temperate climate in the interior mountainous region of the island. The average temperature oscillates between 19C and to 32C. Of course the higher the altitude the cooler it will be.

There are two distinctive rainy seasons: the first from May to June and the second from September to November. You may experience short but refreshing afternoon tropical showers all year and bring a sweater for the evening during the winter months.

For temperatures charts please refer to your destination of choice within Jamaica.

Taxis have pre-established rates and buses services are available on a city and national level. Air Jamaica Express offers domestic flights.

Car and motorcycle rental desk can be found at the airport, in some hotels and in the city. When crossing the street or when renting a vehicle please remember that Jamaicans drive on the LEFT.

The General Consumption Tax (GCT) of 15% is applied to goods and services. Hotels usually include a service charge of 10% to 15%. Restaurants accept the same 10% to 15% tipping rule. Tipping is also customary for bellmen, doormen, porters, tour guides and taxis.

Gang violence occurs regularly in inner-city areas of Kingston but tourist resorts are safe. However as a tourist you are more likely to be a target of petty crime. Use good judgment, take advantage of the safety deposit boxes provided by the hotels and ensure that your lock hotel door or your rented car. Carry your wallet and camera discreetly.

Activities & Sports
In Jamaica you can find excellent scuba and snorkeling opportunities, as well as championship golf courses. Enjoy jungle river rafting, parasailing, or interact with the dolphins at Dolphin Cove.

Dining & Nightlife
Most resorts have an extensive array of dining and entertainment options. Restaurants are generally more expensive as virtually everything must be imported.

Jamaica's Nightlife is full of exciting and eclectic activities with reggae, ska, and calypso music heard throughout the bars, restaurants and clubs on the island. Rick's Cafe is an internationally acclaimed party spot, known for live entertainment and a fabulous view of the sunset.

Shopping
Crafts are a popular souvenir with locally made jewelry, straw handbags, and leather goods generally a good buy. Much sought after Blue Mountain coffee is a major export and can be bought much cheaper here than at home.
