We have just returned from a lovely week At Royalton Antigua. It exceeded our expectations for the whole family. Special shoutout to Cara at Kids club who was was incredible with the kids and also to Shamoi, Maliki and Mr. awesome from the vibe team who brought relentless positive energy throughout our stay. We enjoyed all the restaraunts and the service was spot on.

Let me just start by saying I’ve been all over the Caribbean ,just came back from 1 week barbado trip I’ve been practically all over the world but this place trigger me to write a review

The actual hotel and staff should get at least 1/4 star , upon arrival we were seated at lobby for 2.5 hrs no one even offered water according to staff golf cart had a flat tire that’s why took long to pick us up for diamond club upon arrival to Damond club we were again seated for 1 hour and charged another $2600 cause reservation said 2 and we were 3 with little one , don’t fall for scam diamond club really no benefits of paying extra ,allegedly get a butler to help with all our needs first day of arrival gave him $100 dollar tip. Never heard from him again
This place it’s dirty and full of flies even on beach can even lay down cause flies all over
Where there is flies there is filth and. This place is totally filthy and. People are not like other islands at all
Never will set foot here again

This trip was a last minute booking and was a splurge to celebrate the end of a very long year. We booked an over-the-water bungalow and as you can imagine, these rooms are not inexpensive. Let's start with the positives - the room! It was stunning. The pictures don't do it justice. It is your own bungalow and the views are breathtaking. Having your own plunge pool and lounge area and being able to jump off your own deck into the ocean was heavenly. Our butlers, Earl and Surage, were absolutely wonderful and provided us with wonderful service and answered all of our questions.
Unfortunately, that is the only positive. The food was horrible. I mean horrible. The food in Cuba is better and they are not known for their food. Everything we were served and I mean everything was lukewarm at best. The seafood tasted as if it was previously frozen as it was very watery and quite bland. I think the calamari was purchased at Costco and cooked in an air fryer. What a disappointment seeing as we were in the Caribbean! We made the grave mistake of going to the Diamond Club beach grill for a burger. Well, McDonalds is better at burgers. The bun was stale but the burger was the piece de resistance....it was raw inside! When we brought this to the attention of the lady that was serving the burgers, her reply was simply "that's just the way they are". We asked her for another one and that one was slightly less raw but still inedible. The burgers were not cooked there but instead kept in one of those silver food warmers in the very warm temperatures that Antigua provides. When we told her that this was unacceptable, she said to us and I quote "if you don't like it, we could go to another restaurant". We brought this rude service to the attention of management but sadly, nothing was addressed. My husband was physcially ill later on that day and we were told by the manager that it was better that he got rid of it then keep it inside. We couldn't believe it. He shouldn't have been ill in the first place.
If you are interested in taking out the hobie cat, don't be. They had one and it was broken and dilapidated looking. And the people at the sports desk could have cared less.
Overall, a negative experience with staff that were not friendly at all with the exception of our butlers.
This was our 5th time to Antigua. The other 4 times we have gone to Galley Bay which is practically next door. Unfortunately, they had no availability because we booked last minute. Our hearts belong to Galley Bay. They are far superior to the Royalton in every way - food, service, hospitality and overall a better resort. We will go back there and nowhere else in Antigua. We will never stay at the Royalton again. Obviously everyones experiences are different but this is our honest review.

Despite the beautiful location and attentive staff, I can't give higher than three stars. The only food available is at the buffet, you can't get into any of the restaurants. The buffet is fine, but it gets tiring eating the same thing every day. We spoke with the front office who said they'd make a reservation for us since we couldn't get into any of the restaurants, but apparently never followed through as the reservation wasn't there when we went to dinner. Very disappointing.

I want to start off by saying I am beyond disappointed with my stay at the Royalton Antigua and should have listened to the negative reviews I read online before attending. However, I decided to give the hotel a chance and experience it for myself. Worst mistake!

My extreme disappointment stems from my recent stay at the Royalton Antigua from March 3rd to March 9th. As a frequent traveler who has celebrated numerous birthdays at various resorts, I had high hopes for a memorable experience, especially considering it was my birthday celebration. However, the reality of my stay was far from satisfactory.

Firstly, despite notifying the hotel of my special occasion well in advance, the birthday decorations promised to me were not delivered as expected. Despite two separate reminders, including one on the day of my birthday, the promised room decoration never materialized until a significant delay. When it finally arrived (two days late), it was nothing short of embarrassing, insulting, and lacked the effort and care I anticipated from a reputed establishment like Royalton. The disbelief that followed me my whole night made me ready to leave the resort expeditiously. They were honestly better off not even decorating the room at this point.

I immediately went to the front desk and brought this issue to the manager, Bruce Lee, who took my name & number and said he would contact me via WhatsApp to resurrect the issue. He “promised” numerous times that he would make things right and I actually gave him the opportunity to do so being that I didn’t want to walk away from this hotel with such a bad taste in my mouth. Need less to say, Bruce Lee did nothing. I also reported this issue to the manage of Guest Services, her name starts with an A, and she also did nothing as well to resolve the issue. Despite bringing these issues to the attention of management, it’s safe to say Royalton Antigua poor customer starts from upper management. The best solution they were able to offer me is late check of 2 hours. A mere two-hour late check-out hardly compensates for the series of disappointments and inconveniences endured throughout my stay.

In addition to the disappointing birthday room decorations, they were several other issues with this resort. The customer service I encountered throughout my stay was inconsistent at best. While some staff members were pleasant and helpful, others were downright rude and unaccommodating. This lack of consistency in service quality is unacceptable for a resort of Royalton's stature. Also, if you are not a Diamond club member please don’t expect to eat anywhere besides the buffet and the sports bar. The other restaurants will “overbook” and turn you away without any compassion or alternative. I ended up having to order room service one night after being turned away from two restaurants. My room also had a very damp smell to it which made me questioned the ventilation system at this resort. The furniture in my room also showed visible damage to it and did not give a luxury feel at all.

The only reason why I didn’t give this review 1 out of 5 stars is because Ricky from the sports bar was amazing, Lionel was such a great bartender, and Elise from housekeeping was very sweet. The beach was also beautiful.

My experience at the Royalton Antigua fell far short of the expectations associated with the Royalton brand. The lackluster birthday celebration, inconsistent customer service, dining restrictions, and room issues collectively marred what was supposed to be a special occasion. For the exorbitant price paid, the value and quality of the experience provided were sorely lacking and I felt undervalued as a guest. Please spend your money elsewhere for a better experience.

Horrible experience- IRRESPONSIBILITY and NEGLIGENCE towards guests is shocking. My husband got injured by their Diamond club pool sign with an exposed sharp edge placed right near ping pong table- it was razor sharp and sliced his ankle ! The resort doesn’t have even the basic First Aid! Life guard was scrambling to find an old Bandaid while my husband was soaking towels with blood. No wheelchair. The “nurse” refused to even give us a bottle of peroxide - her only concern was to get $175 “consultation fee” while having nothing to even help us with. We ended up limping to a taxi and then incurred $2200 in surgical fees. The resort refused to even offer any kind of compensation. After over a month, my emails are unanswered and General manager is nowhere to be found ! Now Marriott Corporate/Legal dept is involved and are investigating. Thankfully, I have plenty of witnesses and pictures. Their “post-travel assistant” Geroma Grant set up a phone interview and then neglected to call me - HOW PATHETiC IS THAT? Then she had the nerve to tell me that “her investigation is complete”- she was never able to provide me with anything ….
Bottom line - if something happens to you in this resort and you are unfortunate to get sick or injured, you will experience the worst attitude and negligence ! GO SOMEWHERE WHERE IT’S SAFE and GUESTS ARE RESPECTED!

I have visited the Royalton with my family.
As an elite member with Bonvoy, be assured you will be treated like any other guest. Only difference is, you will have a restricted entry to the diamond club area at the beach and pool.
Food is extremely bad. Service is not up to standards. Room comfort is 5/10. Amenities in room are just absent.
Would I come back ? No. Would I recommend this hotel ? No.
Beautiful beach, beautiful sceneries but EXTREMELY bad management.
Quality price ratio is negative.
I heard the Blue Waters is exceptional. Go there …

It is beautiful, BUT WE DID NOT GET WHAT WE PAID FOR! We should not have to be inconvenienced/stressed out on vacation...this is what we got - STRESS and no CUSTOMER SERVICE or addressing of our issues from management. We were there 3/13-3/17, for a junior suite bay view two with queen beds; eight professional women on vacation. We arrived to find out we were being given king sized beds. It felt very much like bait and switch like we have their money. What can they do about it? It was completely completely completely, and totally unprofessional.

In our group, three women was bunking together...as the website stated it could accommodate that pairing. They also received a king-sized bed - with a COT; it was on the bay side however they had NO VIEW of the bay. After providing contact information and promises of the rooms being made right, after multiple days of beginning our days at the front desk to only discover that no notes were passed from the prior day's shift about our situation; this al-inclusive "5-start" hotel fell wayyyyyy short of that! The hot tub wasn't hot at all. The general manager told us to our face, that what we had was an expectation and an expectation did not have to be honored. A completely horrible experience. They only offered a staff person to come and make up the pull-out bed (twin size) - no other comp or money back. I will NEVER stay at this place again.

The staff, outside of the front desk, were phenomenal. The management ruined the entire experience which is why the rating of 1 was given for service.. We made the most of our first time visit to Antigua...and can safely say...they will never see another dime of our money. NOTE: We also asked other guests did they receive what that booked and was also met with no's...so sadly, we were not the only ones with this experience.

We had a great time at the Roylaton. Our room was DC with a swim up. It had a slight musty smell....we left the sliding door open everyday for a while and that seem to help. Having the swim up was nice.... However, all the swimming pools including the swim ups need some serious attention and cleaning on a daily bases. The tiles are very dirty and growing green and black mold. There are cigarette butts in the swim ups from the guests above. (So gross) They pools need a high dose of chlorine everyday and a good scrubbing. All the staff are super friendly. The food was good. Our favorites were Hunters steak house, grazie and the Cafe! Our bulters were Maxwell and Sharlene. We didnt use them much, just for making reservations for dinner....but they kept in contact everyday. Maxwell decorated our bed for my birthday. The resort is small and everything is easy to get to, which is nice. The beach is amazing. We visited the spa 2 times while we were there. It is super clean and the staff were great! This place has the potential to be a 5 star resort. Just needs a bit more work.

I went to this resort and I couldn't been more satisfied. The staff was completely attentive, friendly, helpful and respectful. The food was great. The property was clean and well maintained. The service was outstanding. Our Butler, Vernessa went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was memorable. Visit the spa omg! I will be coming back!

Our stay at Antiqua Royalton was an awesome experience. We were a family of seven siblings and had such a wonderful time at the resort. The staff was just so kind and friendly. The rooms were beautiful and very clean. I would recommend the Royalton highly. Our excursions were wonderful and the driver Bruce made us feel so special. Joked with us and made it such a fun day. The wait staff was all so friendly and went out of their way to make everything wonderful for us. I loved my vacation there. Kathleen Stencel

Great location, smaller property which we really like. Easy to walk around and it doesn't take long to get anywhere quickly. Rooms pretty clean, food is 4 star sometimes 3. The beach is unbelievable, amazing sand and beach area. I really liked that we all recieved bracelets that were our room keys and also I liked that the towels were available at the beach without any need for a card which was convenient. Richard and Malachi from the vibe team were both great and we had alot of fun playing soccer with them, they really made it fun at the beach and were outstanding. Most of the staff is very friendly and some are a bit unmotivated but it wasn't anything too egregious to complain about in our experience. The kids club was also really fun for the kids. Overall we had a great time and if your coming for the beach it was one of the best we have been to in the Caribbean. The service was adequate but could definitely be improved.

Great hotel overall. Just a bit dissatisfied with the butler service. Food was good and drinks were strong. Great views!

the hotel is in a lovely part of Antigua the food was poor and I'm gluten free and my pizza came under cooked. we went to the Italian and got served an under cooked hot dog it was red raw the room was way too small for my family of 3 we got the swim out rooms and the pool was always freezing the blinds had cold growing on it and they couldn't move they where basically stuck down to the rail and people could see us getting changed it needs way more privacy the room,
when your walking round at night the hotel feels like something out of a horror movie.
the staff where rude to me and my family everything in the shops is so over priced in the shops $70 JUST FOR A CAP! we ate in all of the restaurants on the resort and 99% of the time the food was poor, the beach was nice and had some good activitys to do like paddle boarding , and kayaks to do that where good fun but the pool filter was broken at the swim up bar pool and its 4ft deep and you couldn't see the bottom of the pool it was cloudy and they kept the pool open it looked disgusting the only way to describe what it looked like cloudy lemonade DO NOT STAY HERE WASTE OF YOUR HARD EARNT MONEY!!!!!

My fiancè left a more detailed review so I'm just going to sum up our experience.

Our room flooded. The hotel management offered us a refund on one night. Sounds like they have had multiple issues like this in the past and based on the mold spots on the ceiling around fire alarms and such I'd bet this isn't a first.
Anyways we argued back and fourth for hours and were passed from person to person until eventually they agreed to a one night refund plus revenue we lost from not being able to take photos.

We get back home and they blocked our email and won't respond.

Not to mention the bugs. My legs got eaten up my moussquotos....I would have bought some bug spray if it wasn't $45/bottle

DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE

My team and I were contracted by a couple to fly out to The Royalton Resort in Antigua and photograph their wedding. We were only set to be there for a total of 4 days. And those 4 days turned to hell thanks to the resort and management. The wedding itself was beautiful. But things went completely south on day 3 when the power went out and brown water started pouring from the ceiling. Our camera equipment that had been laying out almost got completely destroyed. $20,000 worth of equipment. We had to throw everything in bags as quickly as possible and evacuate our room. The photoshoots we had lined up for that same day had to be canceled as a result of the flooding. We tried to be as understanding as possible but that quickly faded as we were treated disrespectfully by management, specifically Della. What’s worse was what we found out from the staff members we had become friends with. It turns out that many of the rooms have been flooding for months and the resort is choosing to cover it up instead of shutting down the building and fixing the issue. They have threatened to fire staff members who speak about it and there is BLACK MOLD growing in the ceilings all throughout the building. After making sure our equipment was not damaged, we simply asked that we be compensated for 1 NIGHT as well as the revenue we lost from having to cancel our planned photoshoots. But they tried everything they could to give us the run around. Della was especially rude and claimed that the flood didn’t affect our ability to stay at the resort and even said “it’s not like we did this intentionally and you were targeted”. It took the bride’s mother getting involved and becoming angry with them for treating us badly just because we were considered to be workers and not real guests. After the bride’s mom got involved we FINALLY got an appointment set up with the people we should have been talking to all along. They agreed to pay us the 1 night stay plus the revenue we lost. However the deal was, they could only pay us in cash for the lost revenue. The refund for the 1 night stay had to be issued through the travel agent the couple booked through. We all signed the same paper stating what the agreement was. The management also signed the same paper. But after returning home they are now refusing to pay the rest we are owed and they have blocked us from contacting them through email. This is absolutely atrocious behavior and the fact that they are still charging people and allowing guests to stay at the resort knowing the risk it poses to guests is criminal.

The staffs at the Royalton are very nice and sweet you get a welcome drink as you come in to check in. They make sure their guests are comfortable and having a good time. They are the most friendliest people on any island I have been on so far and that’s a plus for me they treat you like family. The resort itself is amazing, good food, activities to do, excursion and tours to go on. The rooms are well kept up and clean the room services make sure you are good the whole stay that you are there. I want to give a shout out to one of the house keeping their her name is Wendy she was very concerning of my stay because I was there by myself and she offered to accommodate me if I ever come back so I won’t be myself. Another shout out to two ladies Nickola and Vonda for being wholesome and supportive and kind to me on my way leaving they were also funny and down to earth. And another shout out at the royal spa Amanda she was an amazing therapist she tend to every needs of my body and it felt amazing I almost went to sleep 😂. the staff was also amazing to they gave cake for my bday and had my spa room decorated I felt special. The room service that brought my food to my room big shout out to them as well cause I know they were tired of seeing my face lol if I was little familiar with the currencies I definitely would have been giving them a tip. But overall I met some nice people on the resort, on the beach there was a guy name Jadandy he was a free spirit real funny guy who accompanied my drinks. A man by the name Stone Cold he seem very chill and was telling me about the activities on the beach. The bellhop who took my luggage to my room prior to coming his name was Thomas he was a real cool and humble guy. Front desk service was really nice and the other employees that were seen walking around everyone spoke to you! My tour guide on the safari discovery tour was Bruce if I’m spelling it right he explain the history of the island very clear and was very funny I enjoyed learning about the history behind the colorful houses and that women chose the color of it, makes me want to build a house there lol also lunch was delicious I wanted to be greedy lol and the young guy at Nelson dockyard his name was Joseph if im spelling that right, he was very funny and cute when he was explaining the history of the island he was part of the tour on the safari tour. Also last but not least my private transfer to and from the airport was Desnie he was on time and made sure I was good to go and made me feel safe he was a good driver. I like how they have their own transportation to accommodate you but it was worth it. Would definitely come back

We stayed in this wonderful place on our honeymoon at the beginning of January and it was all about relaxation, good international cuisine, the kindness of all the staff, who pampered us and looked after us from start to finish! Room service also more than lived up to our expectations, including the two excursions they offered nearby!
The entertainment is international, far from the typical Italian one!
They were days of absolute rest!!!

I found this hotel perfect and the installation and quote perfect but when it takes a deposit of $200.00 for security and primer 1 month still not reimbursed I find unacceptable and complicated for nothing.
