Could really say good words about the service. Fastest and nicest I received over the 5 years living in Mexico. 💯
The rooms were nice tho you can hear everything whats happening behind the wall. Breakfast buffet was nice and restaurants too. Many activities.
Tho I feel like 7 days were too much, the beach area itself pretty small, can’t walk too far, many people, had to look for taxis to escape to areas like Tulum, where the beach in my opinion was much nicer, people younger and place more vibrant itself.
But I guess for honeymoons it’s ok, tho as I traveled with my sister we felt little out of place

Late review, stayed in April 2023.
Hotel staff on entry was not helpful at all, took hs over an hour to get our room and get our first drink. The layout of the hotel is so illogical, got lost multiple times (and many other guests as well).
Room service takes hours and hours, isn’t even worth trying.
We were there for a wedding and they wouldn’t help the bride throughout the wedding day, took us forever to get food while getting ready, it was very disappointing.
Food overall was very mediocre, nothing horrible but does not fit the price at all compared to alternatives. While this is not the resorts fault, seaweed ALL over the beach the entire time. Was barely possible to get into the water sadly. Rooms were lovely, comfortable beds, but I would NOT return.

Let me start off by saying I rarely leave reviews and I travel a decent amount so for me to leave a review I must feel pretty compelled to do so ;) This resort truly is amazing. The hospitality and service is the best of the best. You are treated like royalty here from the moment you arrive to when you are leaving. My husband and I were celebrating a wedding anniversary and they really made us feel special. The grounds were stunning and the food was consistently delicious wherever we ate. We booked through Costco and got a great deal. I will definitely be recommending this resort to family and friends. I want more people to experience a resort as special as this one

Went for our anniversary/birthday celebration. First Amstar driver drove in and out of lanes, had to pull over my significant other got car sick. Was told our room wouldn’t be ready for another two hours and they tried upselling on a more expensive room that was ready. We waited the two hours.. UVC sales pitch is a scam. When our original room was finally ready there were stains on the sheets and pillow cases and a dirty tissue on the floor. The staff came and cleaned it but we were not offered to switch rooms. We asked if we could. The spa people are very in your face daily “would you like to book your massage”. They will continue to harass you if you don’t ask them to stop. Entertainment was fun nightly
, food was average. Staff stopped doing our turn down service prob cause they got annoyed with us. But would call asking what time we wanted the service we would tell them and then they wouldn’t ever come.

We reserved hibachi one night for dinner. No clue it was a fixed menu. Appetizer was sushi. Out of the 7 people at our hibachi table 2 ate the sushi.. if it’s a fixed menu we should be aware when booking the reservation.
We prefer the Excellence resort better. Had higher expectations considering the reviews on here. Slightly disappointed.

Excellent property, excellent service

This was a very expensive resort when I was there and the rates available which wasn’t high season. It is adults only. Good entertainment and impressive quality/variety of food was the high point. Not a huge pool and the swim up bar was rarely open so the poolside bar line was long most of the time. Not a lot of activities.

Super crazy high pressure sales tactics for time shares! Ug. Nightmare don’t do it as you can’t get away from them after they ask for a short presentation it goes on and on and on!!! 😂💩🥲 when you google it, total scam so just don’t do it.

The beach was a bummer here, very limited area to walk, rocky and it smelled of seaweed. No real ability to swim in the ocean here.

Nice multiple options to gather such as multiple bar areas. Big convention space. I enjoyed the room service - which must be done way in advance given long waits - but my favorite thing was ordering room service breakfast on my deck.

I liked the place, but overall for the money, I wouldn’t go back without a much better price.

The worst hotel experience of my life

What seemed like it was going to be a dream stay turned into the worst nightmare
The room was quite good, comfortable although the bathrooms were nothing special and the decoration was dark.
The pools were very basic. The restaurant offering was irregular, some correct and others that would have been better not to go to.

Although there were very competent service people, especially the entertainment service, there were others who were really annoying. The worst thing was that they tried to sell us on the last day an “offer” that looked more like a mortgage in the form of chained lies to try to get us to join the Hyatt group. From only having to pay $180 per stay to being chained to paying $340,000 over 30-40 years. One lie disguised after another, wasting our time, generating discomfort and anxiety, and destroying our experience. I will never forgive how bad they made us feel.

Additionally, they lied when we gave us an “offer” in which they said they would give us a two-night stay for $200. We wrote to the email they gave us for said promotion and they NEVER responded. It is incredible how little seriousness and little responsibility they have and how they deceive and play with people.
Besides, two days later they told us that we had some vouchers of $100 per person to use at the hotel. What they did not explain is that it was subject to conditions that did not benefit us at all.

The hotel turned into a scam. Never more

Extraordinary: the facilities, the cleanliness, the staff (Vitalino, Araceli, Diego the cook, Jaime Cruz, Alexa, ... and all without exception). Highly recommended. The impeccable pools, the rooms, the tranquility, the very beautiful beach... To return!

Hands down has to be the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The customer service was second to none as they looked after us throughout the whole experience. It was very clean, the food was good. Everyone was so friendly. The only thing was that the room we stayed in didn't have any privacy between the bathroom and the bed area. There was only a partial screen to close, which made it able to hear what someone was doing in the toilet. But apart from that, the pool area was wonderful, as was the private beach.

I didn’t stay here but I was invited over for a tour of the property!

This resort is by far one of the best for couples. It’s romantic, yet relaxing and quiet. The rooms are stunning and the services was wonderful. The staff made our honeymoon and birthday a unique experience. Alejandro our concierge surprised us on so many occasions with items to celebrate in our room (champagne , cake, flowers etc)
Felipe and abraham our waiters by the pool went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! We will be back! Definitely recommend

I cannot stress how amazing of a vacation we had at Secrets Akumal. Everything from the resort itself, service, food, drinks, and entertainment were top notch. They sure go the extra mile here. The resort itself is beautiful - a jungle vibe with absolutely stunning plants, flowers, and scenery. We stayed in building 9 and I actually loved it because we were right by the quiet pool which made for relaxing balcony hangs. The restaurants are all so good - our favorites were Oceana, Portofino, and hibachi. Big shout out to David and Baltazar at Oceana - wonderful servers! The pool bar being so close to the beach made it very easy to bounce back and forth. Shout out to Bernando, Mario, David, and Henry at the pool area. Also to the entertainment team - Dani, Jorge, Bruno, and Rene. We truly enjoyed all of their company and service, they made our days fun and kept us laughing. It even rained one day, and we still had such a great time with visiting the different bars on the property and playing darts at the sports bar. I love that they offer different food everyday at the pools. Panagua was the chef and he is excellent. The beach itself was stunning, we got to see a few sea turtles, sting rays, some tropical fish without even taking a tour. Make sure to wear water shoes as there are some sea urchins which you do not want to step on! The resort provides life jackets, goggles, and you can purchase snorkeling tubes for $4, but you can absolutely bring your own. They also offer kayak tours, paddle boards, etc. I truly love how this resort is committed to helping keep the sea turtles nesting grounds safe and clean, and we learned a lot on our stay here. There is plenty to do on this resort, whether you want to just sit and relax at the quiet pool and read a book, or take in the party at the pool bar with some live music. Entertainment at night varied from live music, silent discos, art shows, shows in the theatre, pirate water show, live dancing.

We absolutely loved our stay and cannot wait to come back - hopefully next year! Thank you to all the staff at Secrets Akumal for their kindness and generosity!

Great experience across the board. Staff was outstanding! So friendly and helpful. Grounds were kept so clean, and there were poolside activities on the hour. Food was incredible from the buffet to the French restaurant, just great. Worth every penny.

Hombre!!! we just came back from our second trip to this outstanding hotel… been the last year and couldn’t resist to come back. I know it’s an all inclusive Hotel, but listen…. I always thought I won’t be the kind of girl to go io those kind of hotels, but it is so top-notch and the people working there are so wonderful so that I would recommended it with all my heart.!!! This is one of the rare gems you find.
It is wonderful with lush gardens and really spacious suites and the food is incredible . But top of it all it is the outstanding service from those beautiful souls who make this happen. Just an unfair. Thank you to Eliazar

Legit service on every level

The people who work here are so darn nice! Everyone says hello and is willing to drop what they are doing to help. Incredible hospitality and extended their help at every turn.
Alan, the concierge, went above and beyond to find me a bottle of wine and remembered our names from day one. Bruno was great organizing volleyball and late night karaoke, and again remembered us by name.
My husband loved that you had a variety of beers, including Tecate. Gina was a good sport with beach volleyball reffing and fun silent disco leader!
