Switzerland Vacations

The diversity of the landlocked, mountainous country is the essence of Switzerland and gives the country its unique identity. Still, it is best known for its financial institutions, fine cheeses and chocolate, watch making industry and for its scenery and outdoor activities.
Famous for its neutrality, the sights you will see in Switzerland are anything but bland. A great combination of German, French and Italian influences, this country has a lively national culture and some of the most stunning alpine landscapes you could ever step foot on.

The pristine and precise little towns will leave you completely charmed, while larger cities like Geneva and Zurich show off their style. While there be sure to visit Rheinfall, the largest waterfall in Europe; the Franches Montagnes, a pristine woodlands area that is great for hiking, cross-country skiing and horseback riding; and the Chteau de Chillon, which receives more visitors than any other historical building in the country.

The climate is moderate with no excessive heat, cold or humidity. Summers are warm however temperatures can vary greatly depending on altitude.

While Switzerland is not part of the European Union and thus is not obliged to convert to the euro, many prices are indicated in euros so that visitors may compare prices. Merchants may accept euros but are not obliged to do so. Change given back to the client will most likely be in Swiss francs.

Swiss Travel System tickets are as individual as your travel plans and excursion wishes. A network of more than 20,000 km of train, bus and boat routes offer a large selection of excursions. The highlight of any Swiss trip is a ride along one of the many scenic routes. Note: Children up to 16 years of age travel free as long as one parent accompanies them.
