A very family friendly hotel with lots of children around the kids pool. The main pool is lively and the adults pool is a quieter setting. So all in all, this resort has something for everyone. The buffet and a la carte restaurants are great, especially the French Restaurant. Free wifi in the lobby area. A good sized gym with modern equipment. Staying in the Palace section, you also get access to the whole Barcelo complex, giving guests an endless supply of a la carte restaurants to choose from, two great kids areas and a disco! A definite go-to resort for families and couples. However, if couples don't want lots of children around, this resort might not be for them as there are lots of families at this property.

My family and I stayed here for a week and it is the most beautiful place I've ever been! The room, the resort, the AMAZING STAFF, the views, the beach, the pool, the list doesn't end! Jorge Rodriguez and Jesus Meneses were our servers at dinner and were both the most kind gentleman and very attentive. Everyone here goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable and I have a newfound love and respect for Mexico, the people and the culture. We will absolutely be back at Barcelo palace and can't wait to return to this paradise!!!!!!
This place is amazing! The only downfall is the distance to walk from your room to the restaurant's. Other than that it's fabulous.

From the service to the meal, everything was fantastic! Manuel and Angel were our servers and they were perfect! Definitely would come here again.
My wife and I spent 7 days at the resort for our anniversary. We were amazed by the quality of many of the staff members we encountered during our stay. You expect to have a few positive interactions during a typical visit to a resort but we had so many we started to lose count. I was so impressed, I was compelled to start putting names in my memo app on my phone. I'm going to share the people who really stood out to my wife and I.
We went to the Capri where my wife and I had the Osso Bucco and it was perfectly cooked. Our wait staff were Manuel Ek and Iracema. They were very attentive. Our glasses were never empty, our plates cleared quickly and friendly service and smiles were outstanding. At one point I dropped my fork. Iracema got there so quickly that I nearly bumped her with my chair. She quickly picked up the fork and returned with a clean fork within 30 seconds. I was so deeply impressed with both of them.
On 2 of our nights we went to the Rodizio Restaurant. The first night we got Benjamin Jimenez and Bredy Barrios as our wait staff. They were professional and friendly, even joking with us. Benjamin went the extra mile to get me a spicy habanero sauce for my steak. It was exceptional. They were so good that we requested their section on our 2nd visit later in the week. They didn't disappoint. The food was terrific. The pork soup stood out!
We ate daily at the Coral grill. Magdalena was the cook there. She was friendly and took our requests at the grill. I have some specifics I like on my burgers and she took care of every one of them gladly. She never made me feel like I was a bother. Smiling and chatting with us the whole time.
Our room was cleaned the whole week by Rubi Salazar. She was so friendly. She kept the room immaculate. She always kept the mini bar stocked and the snacks as well. When we'd come back to the room and she was in the room, she'd ask us if there was anything we needed. She greeted us by name and made us comfortable.
We spent a large amount of our day at the pool. There was one drink server in particular who really stood out to us. Angelica Acosta was fantastic. Fast, friendly and had no problem engaging in conversation. She was a highlight of our day. She asked about our family and remembered us by name every day we were at the pool.
Last but not least, we went twice to the Tokyo restaurant in Maya Mall. The servers, Adela Castillo and Abdy were fantastic. They made sure to accommodate my wife's shellfish allergy. They refilled our bar drinks without being asked. They got me my extra wasabi and were just overall friendly with us. The food was phenomenal and the service from the cook was fun and exciting.
If you're planning a trip to Cancun, do yourself a favor and take a shuttle to Barcelo Maya Palace in Riviera Maya. You can't go wrong. You will be amazed by the food, service, drinks and immaculate facilities. The staff makes you feel like you're the only person there. Cant wait to return in June 2019!

This resort have been the best experience in Mexico, the staff is amazing, the service is great. The Easter show for the kids was such a great time for my daughter. Samantha and Jhonatan made such a great show and the kids were happy. Thank you this should be a more than five star resort.
I do not understand why this place has very high review score.
I have been to the Moon Palace and Moon Palace Grand so I will base my review on Barcelo Maya Palace with Moon Palace.
At Barcelo, the beach is way better with less seaweed but that's about it! Everything is better at Moon Palace Grand and I will explain why.
1. 24 hr room service is NOT included at Barcelo
2. There is no poolside food service
3. Buffet at Barcelo is horrible
4. They make restaurant booking extrememly difficult. You can only book 2 restaurants at a time and when you try to book for a large family, many are fully booked or you get very unfavorable times like 5pm or 9pm.
5. Services are not good in some restaurants. One server didn't speak English at all. One server told me I am ordering too much food and refused to submit all the food order. I told him I will finish everything that has been ordered and I finished all the food that I ordered and told him to be more courteous.
6. My family was given two rooms furthest from the pool so i asked the room to be moved. I am told there was no free room. I asked I am OK to be moved in a few days when rooms become available. The front desk told me even this is not possible. I have been to many hotels and vacations and even during busy season the front desk usually moves my room after 1-2 days. Barcelo was the only hotel that refused my room change request and was unwilling to do this throughout my 7 day stay.
7. The towel service was bad as well. YOu are given 1 towel card per person. Sometimes our towel got stolen and you would have to pay $20 to get another towel card. During check out day when I returned my towel to obtain towel card, i was told that they had run out of the cards so I had to take towel to the front desk when i was checking out.
8. I went during SPring Break season so I understand the pool is busy but the hotel did NOTHING to prepare for their busy season. Almost ALL the pool chairs were taken or "reserved" with towel or personal belongings by 8am. The hotel did nothing to clear "illegally" occupied chairs and the hotel did not bring out extra chairs. I had to put my towel on a grass or beach area.
9. There are many other small things that I wasn't happy with and it is too muchf or me to list them all. But I think i listed enough problems at Barcelo.
I also think Barcelo has a good review because restaurant servers "ask" you to review them if they provided good service and ask you to rate them 5 stars. Therefore, I do not think the current review score was forced by the staff at Barcelo and I do not think the score really reflects Barcelo service, room, and food experience.
This resort was just filled with wonderful people. The staff was so nice and polite. The servers at Caribe, Manuel and Maria Gomez were so sweet and awesome. Gave wonderful recommendations and the food at the Caribe was amazing. Over all
a great experience!
