An amazing hotel for those looking for a romantic getaway in Cancun. The Sun Palace is known for its romantic ambiance. Rooms are well maintained and always cleaned. The views from the rooms are incredible. You're always guaranteed to have an ocean view room when you book at this resort. The staff here are amazing in ensuring that you are served in a prompt manner. Good food options when it comes to the buffet. Better options though lie with the a la cartes. The best thing that this resort offers is the beach. It's one of the best in Cancun.

We stayed at the Sun Palace in March for our honeymoon, and we greatly enjoyed it! All of the hotel staff were extremely nice, from our hotel transportation, to the front desk staff, to housekeeping, and all of the restaurant staff. The hospitality was a 10/10. The room was nice as well. We dealt with a small ant problem in the bathroom, but it wasn’t anything major. The hotel is right on the beach with plenty of seating on both the beach as well as the pools. Staff is always close by to take food or drink orders from your seat. One of the pools also has a swim-up bar! The entire setup made for a very relaxing experience.

All of the food was great! The hotel has four restaurants and a few bars that serve food as well as drinks. One of the restaurants is buffet style for breakfast and lunch, we never had a bad meal there. I thought the Thai restaurant was very good. The only drawback was the room service. We ordered during dinner time, and it took over an hour to get our food. When we finally got our food, they didn’t give us enough silverware and had to wait another 30 minutes for them to bring silverware.

Overall we had a great stay, and would highly recommend the Sun Palace.

My husband and I stayed at Sun Palace during Holy Week. It was an amazing experience. The resort has all that you need to have an unforgettable vacation. We can't wait to go back!

The beach is beautiful! On sunny days you can see 3 different colors on the water, from blue to turquoise. It's really stunning.

There are also two nice pools. One of them is infinite and has a bar. You can have fun by playing games and participating in activities or competitions at the pool.

At night you can enjoy different shows. There is something new every night. My favorite one was the Fire show 🔥 at the beach.

The staff is great! everyone seems to be happy to provide you an excellent service and make you feel comfortable.

There was a bunch of people that made our stay memorable ✨💖
*Ingrid at the restaurants: Always welcoming us with a lovely smile and friendly conversations.
*Monica, our vacation planner: She was very accommodating when booking our tours. She is very kind and patient.
*Jesus at Aurora Restaurant: He was our waiter at dinner time. This young gentleman is very professional, he takes his job very seriously and goes above and beyond to provide an outstanding service to his customers.
*Carlos from the room service: He was at our room at 6 am to deliver our order on time before we went on an early morning tour. Very nice and polite fellow.
* The whole team at Sweet & Coffee: These guys rock!👏👏👏 They not only prepare delicious coffee, chocolate, crepes, sandwiches, and sweets. But, the way the treat you is awesome. They are always kind, polite, friendly and helpful, even when they are super busy. Kudos to Eric, Maria, Yzui, Angelo, Alexis and Eliseo.
*Javier, Jessica and Citliani at the Spa. They spoiled us in a very professional way.
Thanks a lot to everyone 😊

Restaurants:
Trattoria: My favorite one. It offers excellent Italian dishes. We loved the seared salmon, grill octopus and panna cotta for dessert (mind blowing😋). Sofia is doing a great job as a waitress. We loved the way she took care of us during our visit.

Fuego: Great selection of dishes and combination of flavors. The view from the restaurant is stunning. We met young chef Diana, she is great preparing mouthwatering dishes. The ceviche and elote cream are to die for.

Aurora: Great breakfast and huge variety of delicious desserts at lunch time. My favorite ones: Tres leches and flan. Juan was our friendly and kind waiter during breakfast.

Great location to Airport
Best Service EVER
Food is FANTASTIC!!!!
Adult only is the way to go.
Palace has a way of making you feel like Home.

I am going to write a long, detailed review as I felt the most detailed reviews helped me in making my decision to stay here. We recently stayed at Sun Palace in March of 2024 for our 10 year wedding anniversary. It was a quick 10-15 minute drive from the airport. Upon checking in, we were given a better room than what we paid for since it was our anniversary, so that was much appreciated! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was amazing and very clean. Beds were comfortable and the jacuzzi was definitely the highlight of the room. The mini fridge was stocked every day with Corona, Modelo, waters, and juices. The grounds outside were gorgeous, with amazing views of the ocean in whichever infinity pool you're in. If you want front row pool seats at the "fun" pool, you do need to get there early, but if you are not picky about where you sit, my husband and I always found chairs at the quiet pools and the beach. The poolside guacamole and tacos were delicious and a nice touch. The pool bartenders and pool servers were very efficient and made great drinks. You will never go too long without a drink in your hand! My favorite restaurants for dinner were Trattoria and Thai - you absolutely must book these once you check in! I will say I was disappointed in Aurora for dinner but their breakfast buffet was great. We did not try Fuego for dinner, but we went there for their sit down breakfast and it was very good! Room service food was very lackluster but did the job if you need some food. We saw the Burlesque show, the fire show, and the Michael Jackson show and all were fantastic and so entertaining. I would definitely go back to this property or give another one of their properties a try.

Excellent stay! They upgraded us upon arrival to an incredible room! I was surprised by the good service for an all inclusive! Delicious mattresses and pillows! The coffee at the OCD cafeteria inside the hotel is a spectacle! Special mention to the staff Alexis, Eliseo, Erick, Angelo, yzui and María! They make the best coffee

PS: improve the service in the aurora

PS: The service at the Aurora restaurant needs to be improved. The waiters are not very attentive to whether you need coffee, salt or when you call them for something they do not see each other.

We were in Room 117. We could hear the entertainment that went on in the "Bar" every evening till midnight. If you get in that room move!

tl;dr: excellent service, beautiful rooms, food was best when you could watch it being made, resort credits were a pain.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sun Palace. There was so much to love about this beautiful property. The grounds are relatively small, you can walk end to end in about two minutes, but the building quality was very good. The beach had a sand cliff and the ocean was hard to swim in because of rocks. About a 15 minute walk down the beach, you can enter around Club Med where the water is calm like a lagoon. Pool chairs, like at many resorts, were hard to come by, with most getting taken by 7:30 am, but there were plenty by the beach.

Highlights:

One of the biggest highlights was the attentive staff. Pedro, Johnny, Roberto, Alan, and Ale (the entertainment staff) were definite highlights, keeping everyone entertained with magic, music and games/activities throughout the day. Juan-Miguel and Silvio on the beach were great as well. Wait staff in each of the restaurants was also excellent, though I forget all their names. Jesus in Aurora, everyone in Thai, and Julian running the show in Tratoria! The entertainment in the evenings was great! Impressive shows, that (sadly) felt a little cheapened by the corporate feeling ballroom where they were shown. The main thing I'd recommend for the shows is to get a permanent, better sound system for the ballroom, which would make it feel a little more professional.

The rooms (and grounds in general) were gorgeous. My jaw hit the floor when I saw the wall to wall marble in the rooms. Jacuzi in suite, backlighting on everything (including lights that shine up through the marble on the bedsides!) rainfall shower, everything excellent. The cleaning was also impecable, big shoutout to our housekeeper Sonia. Pools were beautiful.

The food in the four restaurants was generally very good, with the best things being those where you could watch them make the food. Tacos at brunch by the pool or in Aurora were great. The green curry at Thai was a real standout if you can stand the heat.

Improvement:

Biggest disappointment for us was how difficult it was for us to use our resort credits. We had $350 to spend, and it was very difficult. They charge 16% service fee to use the credits .We cycled through a few ideas for how to use our credits: couples massage, ridiculously overpriced at $800; an excursion, we couldn't book anything appealing with three days left; dying my hair, no availability. It seemed our only remaining options were the resort stores. It turns out you can't actually buy everything on resort credit, though they'll point out what is if you ask them up directly. Jewelry was 50% resort credit, randomly hats and bags could be bought with credit, but not sunscreen! In the end, using our credits was a pain.

Most of the buffet food was just not great. Lunch sushi bar buffet looked sketch, we steered clear. If I were them I'd switch buffet to more standard Mexican fare, and index around prepping fresh food in the open kitchens. It seemed like there were timing problems in restaurants regarding food delivery. Food took a long time to come out, and when it did it was often a little cooler than you'd want. There were so many people on service duty that this seemed like a kitchen issue, but it's hard to tell.

Paid $700 per night.
If you don't wake up at 5am you will not get a chair by the pool. They allow the Diamond members to save chairs then not show up until noon to claim them.
You must make dinner reservations days in advance or you will not get a table.
Service is lacking compared to years past. Very slow and on more than one occasion we ordered food or drink that never came... They just forgot about us.

Paid $180 for private airport transportation and they tried to pick us up 6 hours before our flight. When we refused to go to the airport that early they left and said we'd have to figure it out for ourselves.

These people don't want anything but your money.

Try upsell everything! Tough to get chairs at beach. Honeymoon upgrade worthless! Small resort. A lot better options in Cancun!

Amazing stay at Sun Palace . We visited in Feb 1st week. Got upgraded to a honeymoon suite. The staff are very generous. Thai restaurant is amazing. Don’t forget to tip.

Everything about Sun Palace was excellent. The food, the service and location are absolutely perfect. Beware, you may receive some high pressure sales pitches for time shares several times during your visit.

Stayed there in March '24 and it was very crowded with rich snobby people who reserved all the lounge chairs by the pool and in the 1st rows along the beach by 7am every morning. Many never even sat in their reserved chairs all day but hogged them up just in case they felt like sitting there later. Staff is always very nice but the guests were not. Resort is better during off-season when it's less crowded and more budget conscious visitors are there. Less snobbery and rudeness (like shoving their way to the front of the bar in front of us less "white priveleged" people).

This place is amazing. Service is phenomenal! Awesome pools & beach:) Food is pretty darn good too. One hell of a value$$

One of the nicest resorts we've been to. All inclusive with everything you could ever want. Gorgeous property!

They will try to corner you for a membership after check in. They are high pressure!

At Sun Palace Cancun, the only thing clearer than the turquoise waters was the realization that my wife and I are hilariously bad at synchronized swimming, yet unbeatable at synchronized cocktail tasting. This resort is where diets go to die gloriously, and love handles are just another souvenir from a vacation well-spent.

We had an amazing getaway! The staff was great and the rooms were amazing. I appreciate their use of technology to make little things like room service privacy and wanting your room cleaned easy.
Plenty of food and drinks.
While the food was a very good quality the portions were small but that just allowed you to explore more foods.

While this resort had a beautiful beach and was close to the airport, the positives pretty much stop there.

Our problems started with the private vehicle airport transportation that we paid an extra $180 for. The description of this service stated that it would provide refreshments such as beverages. Neither of our vehicles provided any beverages or refreshments of any kind.

The second issue was the room service we ordered on our second day. We waited over an hour and eventually noticed it was marked as "delivered" in the app but we had never gotten a knock or ring at the door although we were in the room the entire time. We called down and they eventually sent our food up after the phone call, but by the time we received it the food was cold.

We also had one reservation at one of the restaurants, Trattoria, during our stay. The reservation was for 8:30pm, and we were very prompt, arriving at about 8:20pm. They were not able to seat us until about 8:45pm. This restaurant did not have any waiting area to sit, so we were standing this entire time. It was disappointing as we were already quite hungry due to the late reservation time and had to wait so long past our reserved time to even be seated.

We booked a tour through the Palace Vacation planners. While the tour was very fun, the description of the tour provided by the planners was very lacking and my husband and I were unfortunately under-prepared for what ended up being a 13-hour day off the resort. Had we been provided the specific itinerary, we would have packed more snacks and beverages for such a long day. Additionally, the shuttle driver for this tour was very erratic and the shuttle was over-packed with passengers.

On the 4th day of our stay, the lock to our hotel room door broke and we were unable to use our bracelets to get in. We immediately notified the front desk who advised us that security would immediately address the issue and fix what was most likely a broken battery. After about two hours, we returned to the room, expecting it to be fixed, but security still had not addressed the issue. We waited by the room for the security guard, Giovanni, to arrive and he scanned our lock and said he would return in 5 minutes. We waited in the room for over 2 more hours for him to come back, missing out on time by the beach or pool because we did not want to miss his return. It seemed like our concerns about the lock getting fixed were simply not a priority for security that day.

Additionally, for the last several days of our stay our room and the overall resort had a musty smell that seeped into our luggage and saturated many of our belongings. Unfortunately, we will be discarding one of our carry on bags because it is not washable and we are not able to get the smell out.

The last concern we have is the lack of poolside service. There seems to be multiple poolside staff but we had difficulty getting any service or acknowledgement from them despite offering generous tips.

We did the wine tasting with sommelier Alexandria, who was excellent and if you do find yourself at this resort I would recommend this experience.

Overall, the resort looks promising but service is seriously lacking and although we notified staff of these issues both is real time and after our stay, no remediation was offered. We will not be returning to Sun Palace.

Sun Palace was an awesome get away. It’s only 15 minutes from the airport so that’s super convenient. Beach access is great because you can walk to the beach from the restaurant. Staff was super friendly and accommodating! Lots of food options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They always have some kind of show for guests at night. If you are looking for a loud party vibe with a lot of young people this isn’t the place. It’s a lot calmer than that and we loved it. We will definitely be back.
