Top of the line, beautiful hotel! The Riu Palace Las Americas is near the top of the list for 5 star resorts in Cancun. Great food, service and entertainment. Champagne for breakfast! Rooms are all junior suites and are very nicely finished. The beach area is a bit small, but they make up for it with two great infinity pools. Now an adults-only resort, this is a definite recommend for couples.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were told it's no room available for us, and we had to be moved to a different Riu hotel. They called it an "upgrade" and told us we were lucky to get it.
We booked this place for a reason: there are no waves over there, and we didn't want to go to a different hotel, newer but with waves, but the front desk staff told us that there were no other options. I read a lot of reviews about the same problem, but the hotel responded that it was rare and they are working to improve it. It looks like they didn’t do anything because the same situation happened to my friends, too
This is a very nice hotel....the staff and waiters were excellent and everything was very clean. Check in went great no problems at all. Lobby was nice and no smells at all very clean. Beach was well maintained and lots of chairs for everyone. Entertainment was fun with the off site pool parties a blast. Drinks from the bar were good.... bring a thermo cup to keep your drinks cold and ice from melting...they will make drinks as strong as you want no lie. Food was good.. have I had better yes but not at a all exclusive hotel....you are not going to get a dry aged steak here .... Buffet was very good for a buffet and always had something I liked on it. I would highly recommend you say here and if you get half the service that I got you won't be disappointed....
WOW!!! Beautiful hotel with everything you've wanted and more. Great friendly service. The restaurants and bars are fantastic. The entertainment likewise. The best part for me is this hotel is an adult only hotel.

Nice beach and ok customer service but the Scuba Caribe that they have on site is the worst.
Stay away from them. We bought a tour to Isla Mujeres with snorkeling and the snorkeling was 10 min or less before they told us to get out of the waters. Didn't see almost anything, very disappointed.
Cancun gets worse every year. Prices are skyrocketed and they don't care about services any more, "you like it or not, get the hell out if you don't like it" attitude .
We booked through Expedia and arrived at the hotel around 12pm. Check in was at 3pm and they allowed us to leave our bags and utilize the amenities and buffet right away. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready until 5pm which was disappointing.
ROOM: Room wasn't ready at 5pm and when we did get the room, it didn't seem like anything was ready. The mini bar wasn't stocked compared to our friends room. The outlet in the bathroom was broken and there wasn't enough soap for two showers.
FOOD: My favorite meal of the day at the buffet was breakfast. They had a omelette station and lots of fresh fruit and juices. My favorite part of lunch was the octopus and tacos. We didn't get to try the dinner at the buffet. The most notable restaurants were Fiesta Mexicana and Black and White.
SERVICE: The waiters were nice and attentive. They would come around the pool and beach often and drinks came quickly. The staff at the buffet and restaurants were also friendly.

Rarely have I been in such a perfect hotel. Very friendly, extremely clean and incredibly good food. The hotel is located directly on its own beach. The evening entertainment is also good. There are a few bars and physical well-being is even catered for at night.
Excellent all inclusive resort. All very good. The food and restaurants are spectacular. Beautiful beach. Top quality facilities. Anyway, go without fear!
Room had a moldy smell, everything felt damp. It was like I was camping. Shower did not drain properly. Room needs more outlets.
Service - Front desk was usually less than helpful and made you feel like you were bothering them. A few servers in buffet area were good. Juan was over the top marvelous in the pool/beach chair area. He deserves a raise and outstanding employee award!
Buffet was very bland. Food was mediocre. Tried the Italian, that was ok, steak house was pretty good. Over all the food was a disappointment.
Drinks, and I am not a drinker so this is from those that I vacationed with....not good! Watered down or not what was in the bottle.
View was beautiful, that is the one thing I was thankful to wake up and look at everyday.
Oh, and stop w/the horrible perfume that you pump in the lobby area and other areas throughout....terrible
Excellent atmosphere and great service
The Hotel was awesome, and the staff were fantastic. I only had one issue that I am having issues trying to get resolved. The Hotel allows agents from Expedia to operate inside the Hotel. These agents will sell you excursions that are not backed by Expedia and, in my case, Expedia refuses to correct the issue stating if you buy from their agents at the hotel the packages are not covered. Expedia will only cover issues if you purchase their packages online. I tried to resolve my issue but the Expedia agent Raul at the hotel refused to answer me. So, buyers beware when getting the marked up priced not guaranteed packages from these agents working at the hotel. Expedia put it back on the hotel but the numbers they have listed will not connect from the US.

Bedroom floors are extremely slippery. Using scooters is possible, but difficult to fit in the elevators. An elevator is needed to access all of the rooms.
We had a group of 8 people, 2 needed scooters, my 95yr old father and 56yr old sister. They gave both rooms with stairs. My father fell within 1 hour of being her because of the stairs. We requested a room with NO stairs and were given a hard time because they considered that to be an upgrade. How is a safer room for a handicap elderly man considered an upgrade?
On the 4th day we took the ferry and also brought the scooters. My brother helped to lift both scooters on and off the ferry. When we got back to the hotel, they checked for our all-inclusive wrist bands and my brothers was missing. We explained it likely came off while lifting the heavy scooters on and off the ferry. They didn't care at all and said he had to pay 2500 pesos for the wrist band. They insisted we were told that when we checked in, but we were not. 8 of us were NOT made aware of this upon check-in.
There are 2 elevators on each end of the hotel to access 8 floors. None of the 4 elevators have room for more than 1 other person with a scooter.

Alejandra at the service desk was EXTREMELY RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. She also refused to let us speak with someone else when we requested.
Not looking forward to 4 more days at this place. Will NEVER recommend RIU. So many options, choose anywhere but here. This is supposed to be adults only and there were many children under 10 on the beach.
Worst hotel experience of my life. Unfortunately I will have to stay here for another 2 days. Upon arriving at the room, we saw that the bathroom was full of hair on the floor. We decided to let it go. When taking a shower we noticed that the drain was blocked, forming a mini pool inside the shower when we took a shower. We called reception twice and nothing. In this way, we waste time waiting. We decided to get ready and go down to dinner, so as not to waste any more time. We went out and spoke to reception, asking the team to tidy it up and then clean it, since someone was going to work on the drain. Arriving in the bathroom we saw that there was no cleaning at all. The carpet was dirty and no one had come to clean it. The bathroom still had hair and now dirty footprints on the floor. We had to call 3 times for them to send someone, taking over 1 hour. A total disregard. When the cleaning team arrived, they had no idea what it was like to wipe the bathroom floor with a cloth (washing is not even mentioned). The bathrooms can only be cleaned with a broom!!
I never recommend it.
