Blocks from the sea
Known as the Rui party Hotel, it is lively but you don't always need to be at the centre of the action. Nice hotel, good rooms, lovely staff and good food.
Has it all! Good buffet, good entertainers, good rooms, Pachá nightclub... Everything except the beach, which does not have direct access; A golf cart takes you that passes every 5-6 minutes and if you don't take a walk, quite pleasant to be honest, in 10 minutes you are already on a beautiful beach. For me it is not an impediment. I would repeat again. I recommend it!!

Well, compared to the last resort this one falls a little short.
Watch out for that bird crap that falls in your drink at the outdoor grill area. Yes, it really did happen. The nightly entertainment is mixed with live and a video screen showings of videos and games. Using the screen is under par in my experience. And running out of pool towels on a daily basis ... really!!! The staff were great and is why my rating isn't lower than 3 stars. Probably would not go back.
The hotel is already getting a bit old. The service is very good and the staff is very friendly, helpful and nice. The food is a mass fare (it's always like that at Allin). Activities are always offered to guests. Unfortunately, several times in the afternoon there were no more towels for the pool or beach, which wasn't very nice. 5 stars also for the birds at the pool it wasn't so nice, the leftovers from the animals were taken away. The beach was a little further away but not so bad, you could also get a ride. It's always very loud in the rooms in the evenings because there's a party going on.
Excellent hotel, from the maintenance staff, cleaning, the entertainment team, bartenders, waiters, cooks, receptionist, etc; They make your stay the most comfortable, according to your tastes, if you prefer parties, they have them, live acts on the La Fiesta stage, their own Pacha bowling alley, meat, pasta and oriental restaurant plus the buffet and if it becomes After an excursion or walk, there is a 24-hour Sport Bar. It has a gym, a little small but very good. The swimming pools it has are very good, with umbrellas and parasols, lounge chairs, and they supply you with towels. The pool bar where you are in the pool and you can enjoy a good drink, and if you are hungry at noon Pepe's Food will solve it for you with hamburgers and other delicacies cooked on the grill. The rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fan, minibar with soft drinks, soda, beer and mineral water, plus a dispenser with 4 bottles where drinks vary from tequila, rum, whiskey and vodka. There is a filter coffee maker and they leave you coffee in sachets for this purpose. The transfer to the hotel. In case you had any doubts, I recommend it. Regarding the location, I give it 4 stars only because it does not have a direct beach, but it is about 200 meters away. I'm raising money again to go back. I posted some photos.
Spectacular all inclusive
NOT A 5* HOTEL!!!
I checked out of the RIU Tequila, Playa Del Carmen today after a 10 night stay.
While the location, weather and beach are beautiful, the hotel staff are frankly, rude and incompetent.
If you stay here, you will have the entertainment staff shouting the same phrases AT you every single day from 10am til 6pm. They deem it appropriate to touch the women's feet and legs in an attempt to get their attention.
The staff in the main restaurant will whip your plate from under your nose before you've even had a chance to put your cutlery down.
Your sleeping will be disturbed nightly by drunk people returning to their rooms, slamming their doors and shouting within the echoey buildings. Last night for example, I was kept awake from 11.30pm til 5.30am by such behaviour. This happened multiple nights as there are no staff or security presence within the hotel over night to police this.
When I raised this with reception, I was told to phone reception at the time it happened. I tried this approach on multiple occasions. No one answers the phone at reception overnight. When I put this to reception, they asked me, a paying guest, to find out what room the offenders were staying in so the staff could speak to them. I'm not sure how a guest is expected to locate and confront other drunk guests in order to ascertain their room number. Surely a security presence on site should be policing this.
I am aware that multiple people staying within the hotel made the same complaint and were given the same response. The staff, frankly do not care and will not assist.
During our stay, the room cleaning was poor, high touch areas such as the TV remote control was filthy with grime between the buttons, the air conditioning vent had dust balls blowing from it, the bedding and towels were stained. The sink was blocked and would not drain water away. My husband's clothing went missing from the room. The cleaning staff were in the room for in excess of two hours at a time, didn't replace the bottled water and we couldn't honestly say they had cleaned anywhere. My toiletries were frequently moved and on more than one occasion, we could smell our perfumes and aftershaves had been sprayed while we were absent from the room. Eventually, we gave up and left the Do Not Disturb hanger on the door permanently.
I requested a two hour late check out (which you pay for by the hour (approx £8ph, so doesn't break the bank for either the guest or RIU - a company who are worth approx €1.5 billion). I was told I could only have one hour and would have to pay up front. They were not willing to offer this as a goodwill gesture given the terrible service they had provided for the 10 night duration
Beautiful style hotel, with very good service, most of the staff very warm, to correct, extend the dinner hours in the restaurants. The breakfast schedule is valuable, which is from 7 am. Beautiful shows, positive experience, I recommend.
The reception service can clearly be improved

My husband and i took the all inclusive package for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The check in was smooth, our room was spacious but a little outdated but that was fine since it was clean and well maintained. They have 1 main restaurant that serves all 3 meals in buffet style, the selection of food is very wide but i would rate the taste 3.5 /5 . They also have 3 speciality dinner restaurants which don't need prior reservations : Bamboo ( Not good) Rinascita ( average) Black cow ( best of all 3) They have a sports bar open 24hrs and has sandwiches and hotdogs that we picked up for our flights since we had an early morning pick up. They have Pacha the club within the property which was amazing at night! we were so entertained in our 4 days we didn't leave the property to go to the city! The beach was just amazing , super clean and enough sunbeds, the beach access is not on the property but across the street with the other Riu properties but its only a short walk and they have buggies all day. loved our stay and will defo recommend others :)

Excellent hotel. Rooms lack a little soundproofing, and whilst updated are worn in areas. HOWEVER, staff are brilliant, the drinks flow, and there is always something to do (or not if you want to lounge). Short walk to the beach (don't believe those who say it's a long walk no more than to reception, across the road and 200 yards on).
