A great destination for families with children of all ages. If you're looking for a resort that is further from the strip, then this is definitely the resort for you. Despite its location, it still promises many activities, a great stretch of beach, and only a few minutes drive away from the main city center. It should be emphasized that there isn't a shortage of things to do in this resort. From daytime activities to nightly entertainment, you'll never be bored. This resort is more suited for older couples and families.
Motorized watersports not allowed due to reef. Please be advised that the beach in front of the hotel is very rocky. It is recommended that guests wear water shoes in the ocean. A few minutes down, the beach is less rocky and water shoes are not necessary.
The hotel does not allow groups of students nor spring/summer breakers. Youth up to 20 years old are only admitted when accompanied by an adult sharing the same room.

Pros:
The refreshing drinks in lobby, the wildlife at the resort, the spa/gym (however the spa prices are a crime), maid service, the dinner at the Mediterranean restaurant and the breakfast at the Brazilian restaurant.
Cons:
I’ve been to Mexico twice before and stayed at three resorts. This is my least favourite resort.
When we checked in no one escorted us and showed us our room. We had to find our room outside in the dark dragging our luggage around with us. She also lied and said the other resort Sandos Playacar we need to buy a wristband for 15-20usd. When we arrived to our room there was a cockroach lying in the middle of the floor. The room is outdated. The shower is so small and the tv also didn’t work.
We went to the buffet for dinner. No one helped us to our seat or served us a drink. The food is so unappetizing. The fruit is hard. You have to book reservations at the a la carte restaurants at midnight. Saturday night we went to the Italian restaurant. We were served three pieces of pesto gnocchi and overcooked chicken breasts no thanks. Sunday we got the reservation time for the Brazilian restaurant mixed up. We thought it was 7:30pm it was actually 7pm. We arrived at 7:17pm, but they wouldn’t seat us when there were many empty tables.
The resort is a maze through a jungle. We got lost countless times. Even hit a couple of dead ends. The beach is rocky.
For days there was a horrible urine smell that lingered near the concierge.
We really wanted to do the boat ride on Jade River. The website said temporarily unavailable. After the second day it still said temporarily unavailable my friend called the front desk and they said we have to see the concierge at 7-8am then the concierge said to go to the info centre. Everything was all booked for today and tomorrow. You have to do it days in advance. We found this out on our very last day at the resort.
I wouldn’t return or recommend this resort.

In Sandos Caracol the service, location and rooms are wonderful details to an exciting holiday. When we visited the restaurant Templo the wonderful Nancy and our chef were the people who created the great atmosphere for our visit in Templo!!
