A top selling resort, popular for weddings and honeymoons. Also family oriented with a great kids program. Generally excellent service. Transat holidays has a representative on site. Beach is a bit rocky so make sure you bring your sandals.

"This was the second time we have gone to this resort. I found that the food was not as high quality as the last time. They have made improvements to the beach. It was wonderful and relaxing but the food was frequently repetitive. The other complaint that I had was that it took over 2 hours of bus ride to get to the hotel. We had to drop off the guests of other closer resorts first which made for a very long travel day there and back. (3 hours waiting at the airport + 5 hours flying + 1 hour waiting for the bus to leave + 2 hours to get to resort + 0.75 hours for customs = 11.75 hours)"

Bahia Principe Akumal - Extra Hotel Information

Effective November 1st, 2008, all guests staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Akumal will only have access to the buffet and gourmet restaurants of the hotel where they are staying. Some restaurants may be open for certain meals only and limited visits may apply. Reservations required and dress code in effect for a la carte restaurants. Water sports located at Bahia Principe Tulum (free shuttle available). Time restrictions may apply for water sports.
