Our Opinion of Grand Paradise Bavaro

A nice 4 star resort with an excellent beach area. The Grand Paradise Bavaro may not be the best 4 star, but it provides good service, clean rooms and a very nice pool and beach area. A lower end 4 star resort, but still a popular choice.

Grand Paradise Bavaro Hotel Reviews

"I've read other peoples reviews and have come to the conclusion that people will never be happy with anything. When going to this hotel, you have to keep in mind the price (we paid $736, all taxes and insurance in) and that is a great price for a 4* all inclusive vacation. We were in the club section, so it was a bit of a walk, not a big deal, its a scenic route and the trolley really does come every 5 minutes or so. The food was not good at all, but its not so bad that you have to starve. The a la carts were great, we had seafood, italian and steak. The service was not good for some cuz no one liked to tip. Tip them a couple dollars and you'll have great service. The rooms were very nice, for the price you paid keep in mind, we had an LCD on the wall, never seen that before in the carribean. We had hot water every day, no phone in the room tho, not too big of a deal for us. There were always towels when we needed them, mind you we were up early morning and at the stand by 9am. The beach was gorgeous, not a single complaint there. If you want shade you need to get up at sunrise, otherwise there's plenty of chairs for all. In conclusion, for the price we paid, we got one hell of a deal. its important to remember that you get what you pay for so you cant be going there expecting too much cuz your really not paying that much. if you want more, pay the extra couple hundred and stay at the Bahia Principe."

"The beach was amazing, but most of the hotel services were not up to par considering its a 4 star resort. The food was excellent, especially the a la carte restaurants ( I would recommend the italian one!) The staff was accomodating when necessary and always had a smile on their faces. A couple dollars does go along way!! The bars were good, the staff was always pleasant and showed off their tricks! The hotel rooms themselves were not good at all. We were in the sunquest select rooms and we had nothing but problems. The electricity went out a few times, the cable stopped working, the toilets make a high pitch sound for 10 minutes after you flush it, the bedding was stained, and we were there for a week and had shower towels 1 time (as they never had any). Also in our room, we didn't have a clock or a phone, which was a pain in the butt. It was also an issue to get beach towels as they would run out by 11am. They should have enough towels to serve the hotel, or don't offer beach towels period. The worst part about the hotel was the reception, they didn't care about any of our problems and they were extremly rude and unaccommodating. We asked them many times to send someone up to look at the room, and they never did (we called them and visited them at least 6 times). Also be aware that when you check out they will try to tell u that u owe money for the room bar, at check out they tried to charge us $10 usd for a bottle of water that we never drank (each person who checked out that day was being falsly charged for something) Also at this hotel, there was a huge language barrier with 90% of the staff. This resort is full of french speaking people so most of the staff know french as a second language. In the brochure for sunquest it states that in the all inclusive, u get a wide variety of things. These things mentioned (ie horseback riding, minibar, and the 24 hour sports bar/ deli) we never got. I personally would not go back to this hotel/resort because I think that it should be a 3 star at most. And I think we overpayed for what we actually got. "

"The workers were really nice. They try there best, but the Country infraestructure didn't help.(bathrooms problems, every hotel in Punta Cana has) The beach was worth it every single trouble we had. If you want adventure get ready this hotel is the place to be (from long waiting time, to telephones not working, promises delivered two days later - that will be everywhere not only at this hotel). Food, I recomend the sea escape restaurant and the Tainno. Buffet is OK. The best to keep you healthy will be the beach snack and grill. If you understand they are only humans and go down to there culture you will be fine, but if you are in real health related matter situation you will face HELL like I did. At the end everything is down to your luck. The tour coordinator was not the greatest help, I'm sorry to say. She turn my last resourse to the law of the jungle. I had an emergency I needed a fly back and when I went to pay for it the answer was: Someone pull the strings above my manager and got your space away. "

"We booked a room in the Club thinking that would be a higher quality of service. When we arrived we found out we have not beach!! We had to use a small train to get to the beach. 15 minutes of ride in an open wagon, rain or shine. Not one of the tourist were aware of this fact. It should be stated somewhere that the Club does not have it's own beach. Not reserving the Club again. At Customs in the Dominican we were asked for $10.00 per person for Visa. Do not pay this $10.00 fee, it has already been paid at the time when you purchased your ticket. "

"Grand Paradise is rated a four star hotel but I think it was a 3. The resort is kept clean, and the buffet was average. The employees were not as friendly as other hotels. The gift shop ladies are rude, I did read about all this in other peoples reviews and everyone is right. The hotel gardenview rooms and ocean views are the same due to the way the buildings are placed. It is nothing to be excited about! The theater is hard to find (off in a secluded corner) it has no tables and the bar service is poor. The best and only good thing about the hotel is the beach. If you like to swim or snorkle I would not recomend this hotel. The beach and sand are beautiful but the waves and undertow are nasty. If you have small children that like to play in the water don't go to this hotel or any of the others on this strech of beach. We spent a lot of time at the pool which was nice but had very little shade (another reason not to take you kids). I would not go to this hotel again. We went to a Riu hotel in Porta Plata last year and the service and hotel was far superior. "

"Grand Paradise is rated a four star hotel, and thats all it is. The resort is kept clean, and the buffet was excellent. However there were some problems with the hotel. The employees do not speak English very well and it was hard to communicate with the staff, especially the front desk. Wake up call were someone calling and speaking spanish and hanging up the phone. Some of the rooms were leaking from the bathtub onto the hallway. The hotel sells a gardenview room. It is nothing to be excited about, all that is any room facing any direction since there are plants and trees everywhere. The ocean view is blocked by the a la carte restraunts. The porters are very aggresive, they will take your luggage and hand bags from you, dont let them, all they want is money. The gift shop ladies are rude, i read about all this in other peoples reviews and everyone is right. The nightly entertainment is boring and not worth watching more then 20 minutes. The best and only good thing about the hotel is the beach. It is always kept clean and probably has the best beach of all the resort in Punta Cana. I cant wait to go back but not to Grand Paradise. The five star resorts put Grand Paradise to shame. if you dont care about excellent customer service in a hotel, and just wanna get some sun on the beach, then the hotel is good, but I would not go less then five star next time since the quality of the staff is much better in terms of professionalism and communication.
