Catalonia Bavaro is a solid resort, clean and well maintained. The beach has a lot of seaweed but they do their best to keep it clean. The food is good with lots of selection.

"Second time to this resort, truly love it there. My sister and I go on a girls trip every year. We always said we would not return to the same resort over and over, But there is just something about this one that makes you want to go back again. Never had anything to complain about, just maybe the sore jaws from so much laughing. Good chance we will be there again in the spring."

"We got back March 20 - this is an absolutely awesome resort! We've been to a handful of resorts, and the Catalonia is our favourite now. They have the most friendly and helpful staff. Drinks, rooms, animation - all the staff were amazing! The hotel may not have the same kind of "grandeur" as some others, but it's still beautiful and the amenities, food, activities, and staff more than make up for it!"

"We accidently booked ourselves into the Royal side of the resort and found it was worth every penny! NO KIDS! We partied the entire time we were there and the Staff took amazing care of us. Essentially we still dream about the best vacation we've ever had in our lives here."

"The hotel was clean and service was friendly. Tip them a couple of bucks and they will bend over backwards for you. The rooms were clean, decently appointed. The shower in the room was a little tight for my 6'4" friend though. Have been there 3 times. Had a great time each time. We paid for the upgrade to Royal the last time, but it wasn't worth it. You did have your own pool, bar and dining area but it wasn't worth the extra money. Plus it's a long haul to the beach from the Royal section. Food was really good and varied. Great selection of everything. Loved the ala'carte French the first 2 times we went, but was terrible the last time. There is a great selection from the buffet..we really liked it. Staff are friendly. The beach is gorgeous. Very few locals are there to harass you. A little 'seaweedy" in some spots, but workers are diligent about keeping after it. Always lounge chairs at beach and pool. No problems getting towels either. The entertainment was not bad..they do try. Also a little disco/ nightclub on the premises. The usual top 40 stuff and some latin tunes. I enjoyed it. There is a small internet and phone room..only a few dollars. Most of the time, only 2 of the 4 computers actually worked. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Will probably go back."

"Catalonia Bavaro is a great, beautiful, and very clean resort. Although the staff speaks mainly Spanish, they are very useful and friendly. There is a wide variety of food. The buffet is excellent (grilled meat, lobster, chicken, seafood, paella). We miss the daily breakfast at Catalonia. Don't forget to try the pizzas at the snack bar near the nice swimming pool. The pizzas brought back memories of delicious tuna pizzas that we have had in Southern France. The room that we had was pretty clean. Although seaweeds appear at the end of the day depending on the weather, the staff cleans up many times on a daily basis. The water is clear. My husband saw many colored fish, octopus, lobster amongst others. It could be a good thing to reserve long chairs around ten to seven if you prefer a shady place; otherwise, there were plenty of spots. I thought it was unacceptable to stand people smoking beside pregnant women and kids during the shows in the evening. The resort needs to work on it. Despite this one drawback, we fully recommend this resort. "

"The hotel and grounds were good. More english speaking staff would be nice. The beach was big but the water was not great for swimming or snorkeling very weedy and rocky and no fish. The food was excellent. Some security in the resort would be nice for those out of control visitors (throwing drinks in the pool, accosting other guests at the resort that they don't know, stripping and flashing other guests which was gross, gross."

"My husband, 2 kids ages 3 & 5 and I just visited Catalonia Bavaro in Punta Cana and we were there from March 22 to March 29. We had a fantastic time. Lets start off with the front desk. No problems, they were fast and we checked in at 12pm and we had our room by 12:30pm. We were happy with that because we were told that we would have to wait til 3pm for a room. The rooms are older but clean. The maid services is great. We always had bottled water and our mini fridge was always full with pop. We had the 1 king bed and as soon as the maid saw that we had 2 kids she requested 2 twin beds to be brought into our room for the kids. The pool is great. There was always somewhere to sit and the pool was never over crowed. Loved the kids pool. The beach was fantastic. Lots of seaweed but there is always a group of men coming and sweeping the seaweed from the sand. So the beach was pretty clean. Never a problem finding chairs either. You can always get a sunny spot or a shady spot. We never had a problem with the food. We loved the front buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was always something that the kids liked to eat and us adults. Plenty to choose from when it comes to food. The pool grill is a must for lunch. They serve the best pizza I have ever tasted. Overall we loved the resort and would go back. We would rate this as a 4 to a 4.5 star. "
