Our Opinion of Barcelo Punta Cana

In keeping with Barcelo standards, the Barcelo Punta Cana offers great service and well kept facilities. The beach is excellent as is expected in Punta Cana. This hotel is a great 4 star choice for anyone looking to visit Punta Cana.

Barcelo Punta Cana Information

Lush, tropical vegetation, coconut groves and powder-soft white sand are all part of the beautiful setting you'll find at Barcelo Punta Cana. Formerly Breezes Punta Cana, the hotel underwent major renovations in 2007. This vast hotel complex offers quality services and facilities including an immense swimming pool, excellent cuisine, a casino as well as a circus trapeze and a rock-climbing wall, to engage the most active guests. Spacious rooms and suites are sure to please you with superior comfort.

Location: In Punta Cana, directly on a magnificent white-sand beach, 35 minutes from the airport.

Barcelo Punta Cana Hotel Reviews

"I wish I had been warned before I booked my family's Christmas vacation here. Not all of the rooms are renovated, and little did we know, Air Transat only has a contract with the older rooms which are unliveable: moldy, ceilings falling apart, dead flies in the mini bar fridge, etc. The food was terrible and the hotel needs a major overhaul in every way. I was disappointed and shocked at the false advertising both admitted openly to me by the Air Transat rep at the hotel and on this website. Please don't waste your money here."

"I last visited Barcelo Punta, April 2008. This was my 3rd visit to this resort and I am booked to go again March 2009. The staff bend over backwards to make you feel at home. The food at the Buffet offered a wide variety of choice and the seafood at the Marlin was excellent. The night entertainment was upbeat and the entertainers worked very hard to erfect their routines. The beach party was well received by all of the guests that were encouraged to join in and be part of the entertainment. The rooms were clean and newly renovated. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wanted to get away from our harsh winters, esspecially this year."

"We spent 2 weeks here and enjoyed it greatly. The beach is excellent, our room was very good, service was responsive and the food was quite acceptable - and excellent at times. Items in the buffet change constantly, so, if items there on the first pass did not appeal, just wait a bit for new choices. Staff are very friendly and helpful and attempts to converse a bit in even limited Spanish is warmly appreciated by them. The beach goes forever, and is great for walking. It's a good choice for fitness as the gym at the time wasn't worth using. Elevator problems also added stairs to the daily work-out. There is an excellent T-Shirt artist named Nacho who works at the beach. He created such an amazing likeness of one of our grand daughters that we are keeping it as a piece of art. He did this from just a photo at a very reasonable price. It is a great souvenir of our vacation there. We were there 2 weeks and recommend that length of time. "

"Just wanted to say that the hotel was beautiful and the people that work there are really nice. Majority of the hotel front office staff speak English, however the cleaning staff don't but they are so sweet. The food leaves a little to be desired if your buffet eater. However, if your big into buffets and like the variety then you'll enjoy. Personally, I enjoyed the Al La Carte restuarants much more!!! My personal favorites where the Japanese, French and believe it or not this coming from an Italian.. the Italian. The food was wonderful, the service was fantastic and with the Japanese the show to prepare the food was well worth the wait! Definitely make sure to hit these three if you go here. Note... I wish I had thought of this bring US $1 bills with you it works the best for tipping on a daily basis, and for any purchases that you may do. There is no need to leave the resort to do any shopping as they bring the vendors to you and they are not in your face vendors.. if you don't want to stop and look.... they don't harass you. All in all... spent 2 wks there and loved it but again, if your not doing any activities... 2 wks is a long time. I would definitely go back but with a group rather than just 2 people."

"The hotel and service were amazing. Yes there are some renovations going on, but they did not interfere with our stay at all. I would definitly recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a great and relaxing holiday. The food was wonderful and never lacking, and the drinks were to die for. If you wanted premium alcohol, you got it. We are going back next year to stay at this resort. The grounds were so well kept and everyone worked so hard and long hours. We certainly appreciated everyone and everything they did for us."

"We stayed at Barcelo in Jan.08. The hotel is very clean both inside and out. The beach and pools are cleaned twice daily and there are always people cleaning the public areas. The rooms were clean and spacious. Our only complaints are regarding the food in the a la carte restaurants. In every restaurant the food was beneath our expectations. The lobster tasted like it had been frozen for years and the butter sauce had the distinct flavour of that rancid butter seasoning found only microwave popcorn. The buffets were simple but tasty enough, with breakfast being the weakest. The snack bar was ok. Other than that, we and others experienced some door problems with keys not working properly but in general the service was excellent and everybody working there was personable and had a ready smile. All in all we had a fantastic time. The hotel really is beautiful they just need to work on some problems with their reservation system and their menus. Great location, wonderful beach, beautiful people and the weather was absolutely incredible. We would definitely return in a heartbeat."
