"We think you should know that this hotel has a problem with their staff stealing money from your room. We didn't want to take the key to the safe with us to the beach because another guest lost their key and had to pay $50 US to replace it, so we left it in our fanny pack in the dresser in the room. We discovered the next day we were missing over $150 out of the safe. We left a trap to check that we were right and sure enough it proves someone went into the fanny pack to look for the key once again. We informed the Manager who didn't really seem to care although he did remove that particular cleaning lady off our floor. We didn't report it in the hope of getting the money back. We did it for future guests to the hotel. We have travelled 8 times to the Dominican and have never had this trouble before. We will not be returning to this hotel."

"Very few of the staff spoke english, had no hot water for first two days, food was constantly recycled from the meal before (and before that), what was on the buffet was congealed or inedible due to the taste. (this was my 9th trip to the Dominican and I'm not a picky eater...I literally ate salad and cantaloupe most of the week) Things as simple as butter were constantly unavailable along with regular milk (heated carnation milk was the order of the day) Upon complaining after our bathroom flooded out, the owners we requested to speak to chose to push us off onto one of the managers, Carlos. He was the only one who helped us (my best friend and I travelling alone) giving us a suite & champaigne. Though in the suite, the maid constantly left our ground floor balcony door unlocked, possibly to arrange a robbery. All in the resort were complaining and when one woman got a little drunk and loud about her complaints we had the owner at our table, leaning threatenly over a table full of women and two sons in they're 20's. He felt he needed another owner and 4 security guards for this attack upon us. Thereafter, for the rest of the evening my girlfriend and I had security following us until we asked Carlos to make him stop...he was making us very very nervous being two women alone. All because we were sitting/associating with the loudest complainer of the bunch. I've never been so upset. These owners were bullying and totally ignorant to the way their guests would like to be treated at a 4* hotel.(a 5* if you take the owners opinion) This hotel is a 2* AT BEST. I would not reccommend it to my worst enemy; can't even begin to go into all the small problems here. Beware!"

"The standard hotel room for sure. 2 Double beds, flowers covers- headboard that isnt attached to the bed and the bed is on rollers. No coffee maker or clock. There was enough closet space but it was just a standard room nothing special. We did get to visit a luxury suite and it was spacious and many upgrades including a coffee maker. (That would have been a nice touch). The food was good and the staff was nice. Everything was clean. This resort needs to get more people visiting. There were resteraunts that were closed during our whole week holiday and there wasn't much to do within the resort. We still have a good time but we won't be visiting colony bay again- we`ll try somewhere else."

"We were very disappointed with our room. From everthing I had read I was looking forward to a modern, spa like room. More eurpoean. It was small and no different than any others we have been to over the years with flowered bed coverings. The furniture was just very basic, inexpensive looking pieces. I know we don't spend alot of time there but it is our retreat from the sun at the end of a day and I was disappoited. The Dominican staff though were as usual very very nice. Always trying to please and have a smile for you. The food was good and restaurants clean. Beach was nice but the area has high waves. Great for boogie boards. Even though this is a new resort the pool was loosing tiles off it's sides. In all I would only rate this hotel as a 3+ Star... never a four or five."
