Our Opinion of Grand Sunset Princess

The Grand Sunset Princess is an excellent choice if looking for a high quality all inclusive resort. This 4.5 star resort is an amazing sight with its huge meandering pool and modern all suite rooms. The beach area is nice white sand and because the pool is so large you never have a problem finding a lounge chair. A great resort with excellent value! The Grand Sunset Princess' many dining options and friendly service along with an attractive price make this resort a popular choice. Great for couples, singles and families.

Grand Sunset Princess Hotel Reviews

"After staying at several all-inclusives in this area over the years, big and small, this hotel was a disappointment. The complex is fairly new and very well appointed overall. We had a junior suite, which faced outward toward the access road around the property. It was very noisy at all hours of the night with traffic and night staff servicing the bars and restaraunts near the beach. Did not have one decent nights sleep while we were there. Of all the places we've stayed, the food here was the most disappointing . There was very little variety, and the main courses were quite greasy and very similar every night. The buffet and restaraunt staff were great, but their efforts seemed mis-guided,
with the main emphasis put on getting you in and getting you out again. It was hard to get a coffee refill or a glass topped up. These things may seem minor, but it's unlike other places we've stayed.
The a la carte restaraunts were the biggest disappointment. Did not try them all. We gave up after the first two. The food in the Mexican was not bad but not great, and the Spanish was the worst I've ever been to. The main course was grouper, which was cold and so tough you could hardly get a knife through it. There was very little atmosphere in them also. You felt you were eating in a big open room with bare walls.
Other than a hamburger or a hotdog for lunch near the beach, it's a long, long way to the buffet from the beach for lunch.
I think with a few adjustments this property could become the five star hotel it claims to be.
I would return to places I've stayed previously before returning to the Grand Sunset Princess."

"Just return from Grand Princess in Riviera Maya.We flew in with AeroMexico- good service, good leg room.
I am 6,2 ft and i was comfortable .
Resort have probably 700 rooms and it still growing. Rooms are beautifully furnished and comfortable.
Restaurants have cold cafeteria look, too much glass and concrete for my taste,no open air restaurant.
Food - lovely selection,to bad that meat, fish and sup is very salty.
Landscaping is beautiful, lot of swimming pools on property. We mostly enjoyed beautiful beach and
did not need water shoes.

"Overall, this was a good trip. The resort is beautiful - well-kept, good food, good service. Our biggest problem was how spread out it was. There was about a 15 minute walk (or more) to everything (beach, lobby, restaurants, etc). They had a shuttle running, but if you just miss one, there is quite a wait (in extremely hot and humid weather) until the next one comes. On the plus side, considering how much you eat and drink on vacation, the long walks are good for you! The other negative was that half of the resort was closed due to construction. That meant half of everything was closed (restaurants, bars, kids club, etc.) We had booked the princess side, but ended up on the riviera side. There was nothing wrong with it, but feel we should have been given what we booked - or at least told. The pool(s) is huge and we never had a problem finding loungers. The buffet restaurant always had a good selection. We went to 2 a la cartes (Italian & Swiss) and the food was very good. The nightly entertainment was also good. My 22 year old son said the night-life was only average, but that did not effect the rest of us. We did not go to the beach often, as it was so far. Half of the beach is adult oriented (topless women), it is quite rocky (bring water shoes) and very salty. Because of the time of year (August) we got a great deal and definitely received our value. Personally, I would not, however, go in the high season - way too expensive and I would prefer a smaller, better situated resort."

"My best friend & i attended this resort from Aug.8-15,2009

First impression of this resort was "wow it really does look like the pictures out of a magazine" it was huge & very beautiful.. we stayed in the platinum suite got upgraded to ocean view for free. the room was huge it was very nice.. before arriving i read a bunch of reviews about this resort & read some complaints about oh the A.C dont work, you wont have hot water, the toilet doesn't flush, the shower leaks.. The only thing i can agree to is ya the shower does leak but thats cuz the drain is really tiny in the shower, oh & we had a Jacuzzi on our deck as well i filled it up one nite turned on the jets & water flew over the balcony & soaked the peoples stuff down below so that was a little disapointing A.C. was amazing.. the maids were really good with leaving extra towels, & little goodies for us each day. The resort it self is kept really clean & all the staff is just amazing super nice.. I loved the platinum lounge only people with the platinum or villa bracelets could use it it has 4 computers that you can have as much time on them as you want.. it has lots of seating, its own bar, & food + your own private pool with sun beds,& little huts.. Since it is a large resort it does have a lot of walking but its nice to walk since you eat so much lol but especially when your in the platinum suites & want to go to the main lobby but they do have little shuttles that run every 5 mins 24/h a day which is nice & night so you wont get eatten alive from mosiquitos!! make sure you bring bug spray cuz you wont find any to buy @ this resort..

The beach was really pretty just want i wanted white soft sand it was gorgeous always some where to sit, towel service & buttler service for drinks if your going in the water at the beach it is a little bit rocky when you first go in just tough it out dont wear dorky water shoes, once you get past it its all sandy & clear of rocks really nice..

the beach grounds were kept really clean as did the pools..

as for the food buffets were decent... the A La Carte restraunts: Miso the sushi bar was pretty gross,Mamai mia was good,La Vaqueria (The Grill) was good, Seafood was decent, La Fondue was cute food was alrite.. over all the food wasnt too bad but its certainly not like food at home (Canada)

every night there was differnt shows in the theaters.. passes the time since there night life kinda sucks all there really is.. is shows, buffets which are open till 11:30pm or Disco which is there little club its open from 11:30-2:30 its ok drinks there were good but the Disco was filled with alot of older people so my friend & i who are 22,&23 years old (Girls) didnt really feel like dancing much as the older crowd took over.. but it was funny to watch them..

the first night we got there after check in it was midnight so nothing was open except for there 5th ave sports bar which is 24 hours.. so we went down there to get something to eat & drink we stood in like for 30 mins once at the front of the line we stood there for another 20 mins waiting for someone just to take our order!! we gave up went back to our room & ordered room service which we realized came from the same place!! but our food arrived in our room within 30 mins which was great..

over all the all inclusive trip was really good neither one of us had been on one before & we would return to this resort again it was worth the money & would do platinum again.."
