"Very clean resort, nice beach & good snorkeling. Being the last hotel stop it's a loooong drive after sitting on a plane for 6hrs." [...]

"We have stayed at the Akumal Beach Resort once before, about 5 years ago so we knew more or less what to expect. We like this resort because of the size, not too large, the excellent beach and good snorkelling. We were very satisfied in all those categories plus pleasantly surprised in a few other areas. This resort is not fancy and is, in fact, aging but our room was a stone's throw from the high tide line. We stayed in building 6 and got beach chairs everyday in front of our room on the beach. This end of the beach is very relaxing without the sis-boom-ba of the daily entertainment around the pool. The food was very good for me as a vegan. They do a good job of having many pure vegetable or fruit choices. Guacamole came by the gallon with out cheese, fresh salsa and steamed veg. but not over cooked. Another pleasant surprise about this hotel is that they don't use disposable cups or plates at any bar or snack bar. We always carry our own cups but it is nice to never have to use disposable cups. The coffee was great at the bars. My wife really liked the morning cappucinos. They did a great job of Christmas Eve dinner and even though there was less choice for me as a vegan, I really appreciated their effort and you could feel there was a lot of pride in their work. The snorkelling was not too good due to constant wind that made the water cloudy but we enjoyed seeing turtles, barracudas and rays every day. It is a super beach for children of all ages and it was nice to see lots of extended families taking advantage of this resort. I hope to bring some more of my family back to resort." [...]

"Akumal Beach Resort is an true oasis of beauty and tranquility. The hotel is right on the beach, and the snorkelling is among the best in the world. Every day I snorkelled with turtles, stingrays, and hundreds of different fish. The resort might not be suited for everyone. It is quiet, not for people looking to party. The hotel seems to have a true respect for the environment and I felt like I was surrounded by nature. The staff is amazing; so friendly and jovial. The buffet is relatively small but the quality of the food was truly spectacular. I ate more than I thought was humanly possible because it was always so good. The rooms are very basic. Spacious, clean and bug free, but without any luxuries. I can't say enough about this resort. I can't wait to go back. I relaxed on the very first day. It has a lovely pool area but I never saw anyone use it. The beach is spectacular, I don't know why anyone would want to use the pool." [...]

"We enjoyed our first time 2- week vacation at Akumal Beach Resort. The highlight of our stay was the beautiful beach! We found hotel staff helpful, food was very good, and pool was clean. We would recommend this property to our friends looking for a casual atmosphere and easy going clientele. We are looking forward to visiting this hotel again next year!" [...]

"Awesome trip!! We loved the Akumal Beach Resort. This was our second visit in 3 years and we will likely return again. Service was excellent and the staff SO friendly. There was lots to do in a week. The nights were quiet but we like that. World class snorkeling right out front. We saw sea turtles and sting rays everyday, and a baracuda most days - he is BIG! Only complaint, the bus ride to the resort from the airport. Ugh, an extra hour added to our travel day because we had to pick up and drop off at other resorts. Individual van service would be MUCH better." [...]
