Our Opnion

This hotel is not directly on the beach but the Palma Real does offer some of the best value Varadero has to offer. Usually we recommend a minimum 4 star hotel as standards in Cuba tend to be lower than in other sun destinations, but if you are on a budget, then this is probably your best bet. Definitely one of our most popular 3 star resorts in Varadero. The rooms are a little tired, but the pool is good and the beach area is nice. If you are looking for a low cost vacation then the Allegro Palma Real is a good option.

The hotel is short of supplies, especially in the bar. But the attention of the staff in general is good, making you have a better stay. Upon my arrival, when I encountered a first impression of the esccés and other details, I did not feel very good but in the end I had a very good 4-day stay. The food is very well prepared and there is always protein, vegetables, rice, beans, a type of cheese, ham and desserts. Not very varied but it has everything. Breakfast also with practically everything but without variety. Egg, sausages, milk, yogurt, juices, fruits, breads, cookies, etc. For me, the worst thing was always the snack bar, which, in addition to being far from the lively pool, didn't serve you and generally only had pasta. It should be noted that the girl who always served us at the buffet Mileidis was always very friendly and very fast, go with her because the rest lets you wait a long time. The girl at the beach bar, I forgot to ask her name, was the best in sweetness and charisma of the entire hotel. There weren't many options on the beach to drink, but she made you feel like you were at home and gave you drink suggestions. so that you feel good. The activities uff uff 10 out of 10, very good animation team and the pool and nighttime options were great. The customer service was very receptive and they immediately responded to a complaint about the room and gave us a much better one. My criterion is that the hotel is not 4 stars. Although it is currently one of the cheapest in Varadero, they should lower the price even more because the customer's expectations are much higher than the quality, variety and real options since it is 4 stars because the rooms really are not bad but Very old and basic, lack of aesthetics and even the public places are rather ugly. The most beautiful thing is the show area, which is very modern. Block 1 should have a bar on the ground floor because the lobby bar was always full of people and with a line because it was the only place that gave coffee. There was another bar in block 4 but I never went because it was far away.

I love the hotel and the island

Pros:
-comfortable new mattresses
-close to the beach
-close to shops (although they have empty shelves, except for rum and cigars) and cafes
- papaya and pineapples

Minuses:
-FOOD. I have never eaten such slop anywhere. We didn’t see bread even once in 10 days. Eggs only for the first breakfast. There was milk three times. Rice and pasta made me sick by the end of the vacation. As well as from white cabbage (except for it, cucumbers and tomatoes, there is nothing else). The chicken is always randomly chopped with an ax, so you chew and spit out small bones, hoping that they are not your teeth. Instead of potatoes, they have some gray cubes (and these are not sweet potatoes, something else), dried green bananas and beans. There are no sauces. In a country surrounded on all sides by the ocean, we were given fish only once - canned saury. In addition to chicken - stew. It feels like you’re not on vacation for money, but you’re serving a sentence in a colony, so the food doesn’t taste good. At the serving stove there is a man who fries meat (there were chops, but more often - pieces of chicken with cabbage, where cabbage is 75% (he starts only when a crowd of hungry people is allowed into the dining room, which lines up next to him and everyone stands and waits . You can’t start in advance). If you didn’t manage to fly into the dining room with the first wave, you may no longer get many edible things (the dishes become empty and are no longer renewed). It’s the same with cutlery and glasses. They cook either without salt at all, or so salty that it's impossible to eat. They even managed to ruin the vegetable soup. The coffee in the cafeteria tastes like boiled mud. If you think you can eat outside the hotel, then all the stands at the hotel are a burger, where only an over-salted cutlet for 5 bucks, and a small terribly salty pizza from the frozen department of Pyaterochka, also for 5 bucks. The alternative is a delicious lobster in a restaurant for 15 bucks.

-number. There is a window in the bathroom, the light from which burned the mirror, as if in a fire. Everything is ancient, battered, dusty. The shower curtain rod in the bathtub is held on by plastic bottle caps screwed into the wall.
Apart from two bedside sconces, there is basically no lighting in the room.
The air conditioner (ventilation grill under the ceiling) is directed directly at the bed. The toggle switch on the wall is only needed for decoration; it doesn’t regulate anything or turn it off.
Sometimes you come from the beach and you don't have hot water. Sometimes you go to the toilet and there is no water in the barrel. This was my first time flushing out of the trash can. Leaky, of course. Sometimes you come to your room in the evening and there is no electricity.
Safes without locks. Just iron bedside tables.
The balcony overlooks an open-air bar, from where music plays until three o'clock in the morning. No soundproofing.

-cleaning. Our bed linen was not changed even once in 10 days. Even tips didn't help. Towels were changed once. And then they took away two large dirty ones and gave one clean one in return. And we are like two people. The maids do not have vacuum cleaners or do not use them. The dust on the stand under the TV both greeted us and saw us off.

-I begged for beach towels at the reception for two and a half days. Of course they were never replaced.

-there is no fresh shower on the beach. Well, or at least a tap to wash the sand off your feet. Accordingly, the sun fries your face and body with salt water and you walk to the room with sandy feet, rubbing calluses. The whole room is covered in sand.

-bar. Having normal ground coffee and a coffee machine, they pour colored water with a coffee flavor into your cup (they pour a little into the holder). Sometimes there is no cola. Sometimes there is cola, but no gas. Pour apple juice from powder.

-pool. Having noticed that the pools are not cleaned at night and no one cleans them during the day, and there is no smell of bleach, we decided not to take a dip in them. I think the water in them is refreshed only by rain.

-every Thursday they have a “holiday lunch” instead of the usual one in the dining room. For a huge hotel with more than a thousand people, they put one grill by the pool in the sun, a leisurely Cuban and several trays with the same rice, pasta and cucumbers. It's like a family barbecue. And you stand at noon in this line for food for 40-50 minutes, accompanied by cheerful music and dancing by local amateurs, getting skin burns and sunstroke.

Honestly, the best hotel in Varadero for your money!
There are problems with food everywhere, throughout Cuba, in some hotels there is no bread, in some vegetables, talking with tourists from different hotels it is clear that something is missing somewhere. Of course it’s not Türkiye 5*, but you can find something.
But! We traveled around the island and this is truly the best price-quality hotel.
Those located at the end of the island are purely hotel holidays; you will be tortured by constantly going to the center, although there are better hotels, rooms, and food there.
The sea here is incredibly beautiful, clean, and there are always enough umbrellas and sunbeds. all the staff are very friendly and really try their best.

1 time we ran out of rum, but the weather was bad, apparently our Russians drank everything while they were sitting in the hotel😀
The location is a blast! The very center, you don’t even need to take a taxi, if you wanted to take a walk, you went out for a walk.
But don’t expect super service, that’s not what people go to Cuba for❤️
By the way, cigars in the hotel turned out to be cheaper than in cigar stores🙈 they say they are original.

I am in the hotel at the moment March 2024, the rooms are normal, the normal service could be much better, the hotel food is not very good, there is practically nothing, the breakfasts are disgusting, there are no eggs or bread, no milk or chorizo In general, the buffet table is not stocked, the food shelves are left empty, you have to ask the workers where the food is because they don't even bat an eye, they add cabbage to the grilled meats to increase it, anyway in the hotel There is almost no food if you don't go early you don't eat or you eat leftovers because they don't take care of filling up what's gone, the beach is very far away you have to leave the hotel, in short this is a boring hotel with very bad gastronomic service I don't know. I recommend to anyone, the worst hotel I have been to in Varadero

The hotel is terrible in its gastronomic offers. For me it doesn't even have a star. Much lack of food. There are no bread or eggs at breakfast. At lunch only ham and some chicken with a lot of cabbage. Really lousy. No drinks. Only beer and regulated. watery joes. No sweets.

If you are coming for snow-white sheets and towels, beautiful and modern furniture, daily wet cleaning and other four-star advantages, then look for another hotel. A minimum knowledge of Spanish or English is highly desirable, although basic knowledge is also possible; the staff already understands a lot of Russian. The location is wonderful. It's a five minute walk to the beach. The ocean is wonderful, crabs, seagulls, pelicans and white sand. On the beach there are sun loungers under umbrellas and a bar with primitive cocktails, a la laguna, cuba libra, merinda rum, etc. (free for hotel residents). Also free of charge for hotel residents is the option to ride a sailing catamaran, pedal boat or kayak. Garbage is removed and the beach is periodically cleaned of seaweed and debris. Near the hotel there are a lot of markets, bars, shops with cigars, rum and coffee. The food was tolerable, there was always meat, the ice cream was delicious. They constantly bring you finished dishes, so you don’t have to guess about the time of your visit. You have to ask for spoons, they are not provided by default. bakery products only in the morning.
I was lucky with the number. everything worked, euro sockets were in the room. There was always hot water (heated on the roof). There were no power outages, there was a large generator in the backyard, but there was no need for it. The elevators didn’t work for a couple of days, but they were repaired, and after the repair, even both two started working. Constant animation, discos, foam parties, yoga, dancing, shows, etc. their schedule hangs at the entrance to the hotel. There is a bar in the pool. From the unpleasant side, compatriots and Canadians who had too much to drink. Also local holidaymakers enjoying the privilege of queuing for drinks at the bar.

It is close to the beach, it is a very large hotel, excellent service.

We went to this Palma Real hotel and we had a great time, the service was super good, the cleanliness was good.

Hotel palma real terrible first place their attention second rooms third their buffet table, there were no glasses or cutlery, the children don't even have anything to eat. I came because of the comments before that I read. I really think they went to another hotel. I tell you how scary

Cuban hotel 4 stars.
Good and best location in Varadero (very center, 5 minutes to the beach).
We spent 3 weeks, check-in was quick after 16.00, the security guard escorted us to our room and helped us with our luggage.
The maids cleaned as standard every day, clean towels in the bath, and left 2 large towels for the beach and 1.5 water for each day. Every time the maid made a masterpiece out of towels on the bed - very nice.
The staff are all friendly, welcoming and smiling.
You won’t go hungry; on the Swedish course you can choose products (vegetables, cold cuts, pasta, meat and fruit, ice cream) for yourself. (there was no bread for the last week).
The animation worked, there were excellent sunbeds on the beach.
I even managed to go to an A la carte restaurant, but the food was all Swedish))))
I recommend the hotel!

A hotel from the 80s where local rich Cubans vacation.
The room was normal, cleaned +/- well.
The room has a safe, air conditioning, refrigerator, the doors closed everything ok. True, only one outlet worked, but we had an extension cord with us. )))) Antikamarin was hardly used since we lived on the 5th floor. The food was scanty, but they did not die of hunger. (White rice, rice with beans, pasta. It was always either chicken, or something fish, or pork. There are few vegetables, practically no cheeses, cold cuts, fruits. Everything tastes strange, but I think because there are no food additives in the products which we are accustomed to).
Of the entire hotel, only one building and one swimming pool were open, the rest was closed. There used to be a large hotel bar on the beach, now it’s just an umbrella stand in the bushes. The lobby is open 24 hours, cocktails are made with syrups, that is, daiquiris not made from strawberries. There is rum, whiskey, liqueurs, beer. You have to ask for water in your room, then they bring it.

We were there many years ago. Now I remembered it in connection with my friend’s trip. The impressions are wonderful, Cuba is charming. The ocean is amazing. The hotel is 4 stars, as stated. The food was good, there weren't enough potatoes. There was seafood in the form of shrimp every day. Vegetables fruits. The room is clean. Everything worked. There is daily animation on the beach. In the evenings - organized leisure. Large beach with soft sand. We flew beyond the ocean, the tropical forest and the spirit of a free island. We got it all. Thank you, CUBA!!!

The worst food..Exalant Staff...

The hotel, by Cuban standards, is very good and expensive, mainly wealthy Cubans vacation. For Russians, the hotel is from the 80s. The area and the room are clean, the room for 3 people is gigantic, and the toilet can be said to have 3 rooms (in 3 turns), everything in the room works and everything is old. But it didn’t spoil our impressions. Several pools and a pool bar. Everyone complains about the food, but I liked it, there are vegetables and fruits, meat (beef and pork), chicken and fish almost every day for lunch and dinner. Very tasty buns and ice cream! The staff is sooooo smiling and loves to chat. The room had soap supplies, 6 towels for the body and face, one for the feet, and 3 for the beach, a bottle of water. The hotel has a 24-hour bar and it is also free at night. There is a snack bar, which is open during the day, and then also from 23 to the morning. And one more thing: the hotel has an A la carte restaurant! We didn't expect it at all. You can visit for free once per visit (in the photo - with beautiful chairs) The beach is nearby! The sand and the ocean are a complete delight, there are sunbeds, awnings and a bar on the beach too! We drove and prepared for the worst, but were very surprised that everything was much more pleasant!

Excellent entertainment, very good service, very good food, it is well located since it is next to Varadero Boulevard

I knew going into this vacation that Cuba had a food crisis and that the hotel was under new management. However, the rooms were clean, but old and musty and hallways/ stairwells were dirty. The food at the snack bar and the buffet was barely edible. The drinks were good though, but the bartending staff spoke minimal English so at times it was difficult to communicate your requests. Also, they served the Spanish speakers and the Russians first, even if you were ahead of them in the queue! And what was with the espresso machine constantly being broken?

The pool bar and the beach were lovely, which was the only saving grace of this place. There were lots of loungers at the pools but not a lot at the beach. Go early to the beach if that's your jam.

The beach was about a 5 minute walk from the hotel grounds, which was not a big deal for us, but it was annoying. But once you got there, it was so wonderful. And the staff at the beach bar were lovely.

One day the housekeeping staff only gave us one blue beach towel; I didn't think anything of it. But on checkout, we were told that we would have to pay for the missing towel!! Seriously! It was $30 USD. I was furious. I paid it anyway because we had our shuttle to the airport to catch and all they did was shrug their shoulders and say "you need to pay before you leave". We were only given one towel and they charged me for a towel that I never received. What a scam.

I will not be returning to Cuba, let alone this hotel. I do not recommend staying here. Not only did it feel like a scam, most of the staff were miserable and wore their emotions for all to see. But, you get what you pay for. It was a cheap, hot holiday with beautiful weather. So it wasn't all bad.

Rooms and hotel was cleaned, however there was one day where they did not had bread for breakfast and the A/C in the restaurant did not work, also there were few gastronomical options.

Hello, we have a reservation in January for our wedding anniversary, I am very worried because it says temporarily closed, that availability be verified before booking but availability came out 🙄 we made the payment and received the receipt, but we are worried, in addition to immense skepticism about most of the opinions 😞 but I still don't usually believe it until I live my own experience. I know they are part of the Barceló complex so we hope there are alternatives in case this temporary closure continues. Greetings from a future client

I would like to validate if the hotel will open, and if so, on what dates?
