We loved 'Alohilani! Great location and amenities.

We went there to celebrate our Baby moon and also some major wins we made over the years. Hawaii in general is very expensive so I would recommend mentally preparing to spend money lol. I am assuming that if you are planning a trip to Hawaii you might already know that.

We got the ocean side view and we are so happy we got it. It's definitely worth waking up every day to the beautiful ocean. The concierge really helped me organize the full week of surprises I had for my wife.

The 'Alohilani team was great to work with. They even gave me a call the day before we arrived and asked about any special requests etc. I felt like they were making me feel welcome even before we reached there. The resort is literally across Waikiki beach too. Overall, the resort was fantastic. I highly recommend them.

I wish I can give this 0 stars - Recommendation at end

You can hear everything, and I mean everything. Although I have never seen the family staying next door to us, I can tell you that it is 2 parents, a toddler, and a baby. I wish I did not have to know this when i’m on vacation. They talk at a normal level, they are not even loud.

It’s Sunday right now at 6 am. For some reason I am woken up at I believe 4 am by some loud screaming into a microphone, It looks like there’s a marathon right now ! Oh that’s so loud let me go close the patio door so I can sleep ON MY VACATION. Wait , it’s not even open 😭😭😭 So why can I hear everything loud and clear ? Maybe they built this hotel out of cardboard or something idk. I mean cool ur having a marathon at 4 am but the thing is I came here on vacation. Imagine going to sleep after the longest flight and staying in this hotel only to not be able to sleep because nothing is sound proof.

Maybe it’s the week we chose to come here, but I ask, why is there so much traffic to get into our hotel ? (we rented a car) For some reason, every time they are hosting an event. For example, last night “Oh an ENTIRE highschool rented our parking lot for their graduation” Um ok anyway the other day they had a Rosè event I’m not too sure the reason if they aren’t making enough money with the hotel rooms maybe they have to do events every single night to make up for it idk that’s all I can think of. Anyway it’s just very inconvenient to be a guest here while these events are going on.

When i pulled up the cover with the stretchy thing to reveal the mattress I found a crusty piece of toilet paper so I think that means they don’t wash it ? 😭

Also, wouldn’t you think it’s fairly easy to find soft sheets ? Apparently very hard. Sheets are super scratchy. I can’t wait to go home to my own bed.

Anyways don’t pay extra for the partial ocean view because they might just give you a second floor room.

I would recommend the Moana Surfrider if you’re looking for a great resort.

The hotel's location and the oceanfront room with views were perfect. However, the bathroom, while lovely, was quite small. Even as a petite person, I found it challenging to close the door due to the close proximity of the shower, toilet, and vanity. This might be a consideration for those who prefer more spacious bathroom layouts. However, the smaller bathroom was made up for by the increased living space in the room, which I prefer.

The hotel's location is so convenient that you won't need a car. It is a prime location for Waikiki restaurants and shopping, and the hotel feels quiet, not like the crowded loudness of other hotels in Waikiki. The hotel has a large built-in aquarium, with a scuba diver feeding fish twice daily. This is a unique experience offered by the hotel. The pool deck was lovely, with a bar offering drinks and snacks.

The hotel staff was very friendly and nice. However, they needed more managerial support to keep the hotel running efficiently. The computer services at the hotel were down the entire week of my stay. Check-in lines and times were long. A week later, check-out lines and times were extended as well. It's really long; plan for half an hour to check in and out. For every check-in, the staff member has to run to another location in the hotel to get paperwork off of a printer; this takes several minutes of downtime while you stand there and wait indefinitely, while the line behind you grows longer, for them to return. The service and communication through the front desk could have been better in managerial support of adequately functioning equipment. Therefore, my service score is two (2) instead of five (5), all due to management issues that may need to be addressed. In other words, this may be the standard operation of the hotel in 2024

Not very impressed and probably wouldn't recommend -

I booked this vacation with quite a bit of advance. I upgraded to a premier ocean front view which honestly, it was a stunning view! The location was very nice as I could walk to the beach and to all of the shops, zoo, and aquarium.
The booking of excursions was done via email with the concierge desk. It was very nice to have it all handled for me, and well as transportation. When I arrived, I went to the desk to receive my vouchers and the personnel was talking with another family, no problem. But I felt slightly harassed by the Hilton personnel wanting me to go to their location I guess for time-shares? But when I kept telling her I was too busy on the trip and didn't have time, she kept pushing ways to get me there on certain days.

But back to the hotel. While the location was nice, I was not overall impressed by the staff, longboard club (food/experience; wait staff was great), and I felt like I could have spent less money at close by hotel/resort and received a better experience.

At check-in with Ruyu, I was told the system was down so she would have to find my reservation on the paper printouts they had. Once she had it, she said she needed my credit card information (even though I paid in full ahead of time), and said they would process the bill later... I had to remind her that I paid in full and nothing from the hotel should be going on my card. I was given a paper and said here is some information for what is around. She came back with keys and said "you'll go down this hall" pointing behind her. I walk down the hall, I see shops, and get confused so I went back to the lobby. Once there, I see an elevator and some gentleman came to me saying the elevator I needed to go to was down the hall I just came from. It would have been nice to have been told "You'll go down this hall, past the shops, and the elevators are across from the ABC store".
I get up to my room, happy about the view, and then wanted to walk around to get the layout of where everything is. I walk around basically like an idiot because I was told nothing at check in. I finally reach the bar and had to ask the bartender where the longboard club was. He told me it was down the hall and to use my green key to get in. I wasn't given a green key, mine was red. So I had to go back down to the front desk to get everything corrected and explain my frustration. At that time, I was told the paper I was given was a map of where everything is for the hotel and close by.. would have been nice to know at check-in. I made it up to the longboard club for dinner and was surprised at how little there was - chicken dumplings with sauce, meet and cheese, crackers and bread, and fruit (and of course the drinks, both alcoholic and non). Since I had to upgrade for this, I was expecting a bit of a selection. I went back for breakfast and there was oatmeal, chicken apple sausage, eggs, fruit, yogurt, acai bowl, toast with jams, cereal, and breakfast drinks. I went back most mornings and was very disappointed to find out, the only thing they changed was the breakfast meat. Again, no variety and pretty much no change.... completely not worth it.

The room was rather small, the bathroom door didn't stay open, and no mini bar in the room.

After paying over $4,200 for a 5 night stay, I was expecting better service, better food with more variety, and a better experience. Nothing about this stay made me want to come back as I could take that amount of money, go somewhere else with an ocean view, and received more bang for my buck.

Access to beach n food 1 nicest place in Waikiki...

We purchased a 1 king bed for the week. The room is equipped with a large tv, refrigerator, coffee maker and premium coffee, and a balcony with partial ocean view. There is no microwave which is upsetting as food is outrageously expensive here and id like to reheat leftovers(check out my review of the steak shack for an affordable and delicious meal.) We were on the 36th floor, the wind was incredibly loud. I liked it because it reminded me of rain, but my girlfriend said it made her feel a tad uneasy at times as it rattled the window and etc.

We ended up with access to the "longboard lounge) which offers a delicious breakfast and just okay dinner. The selection changes daily, but not completely. For example, dinner is the same pasta every night with the same sauce options(a marinara or white sauce) but the protien changes(meatballs one night, chicken the next etc). Beer and wine is offered during dinner hours in the lounge as well as an array of cheese, cured meats, fruit and more. I'm not sure if this something we paid extra for or was included with every reservation. But overall, I ate some of the best complimentary hotel food I've ever had. I usually stay at chain hotels back in the lower 48 though.

Service has been hot or cold. Some of the staff is genuinely friendly. Some of the staff seems upset by even the most basic of questions or requests which was infuriating. I cannot reach the front desk via phone as they just don't answer. Front desk staff and concierge staff offer zero valuable recommendations on fun things to do. They push you towards very limited and expensive options through companies they've partnered with.

Location is fantastic. It is within walking distances of a variety of attractions and it's just across the road from the beach.

Other amenities in the resort include restraunts and bars. We stopped in the "swell" for a staggeringly expensive Pina colada for $19.00 - it was good but for 2 bucks at the liquor store, I could get a comparable premixed frozen Pina colada. Food was expensive as well. Service was really good though.

At "the swell" there is an infinity pool, cabanas which you have to pay to reserve, a hot tub (closed due to maintainance) and what looks like a kids pool (also closed for maintainance). Unfortunately, closing most of the pool area funneled everyone, including kids, into a handful of tanning beds by the infinity pool which was very unpleasant.

Other amenities include a spa and a med spa. The cheapest massage was priced at 170usd. The cheapest injection at the med spa was 35usd. I'd recommend going off resort for the massage as there are vastly more affordable massages from spas with good reviews.

Is this kid friendly? Not really. It's clearly geared towards couples and adults in general. For example, you can rent some rather unsavory titles through the adult zone on the TV. Also, many guests were partaking in the wacky tobacky but overall, I smelled very little of it during our 6 night stay.

Overall this resort was classy and beautiful. It was good ballance between all inclusive and not. For the cost, with the poor service, and the issue with kids ruining relaxation time, I'm not sure I'd want to stay here again.

There are attached shops that are note worthy. SIXT car rentals is attached. We were quoted a nice BMW 3 series for two days at a comparable rate to TURO and hertz. The best part is the car is picked up at the resort. The ABC store is probably not the greatest values for general commodities like sun screen and beer, but it is there and proved convenient. Go to longs drugs just down the strip for better prices and larger selection. The Ramen restraunt was good as well. At 20 bucks a bowl, it's not a stellar value, but it was pretty tasty. The happy hour beer special is probably the cheapest beer you'll find at just $4 a mug in waikiki beach. There is a mcdonalds next door as well which was nice for the night we got in late and just wanted a quick bite to eat.

The Alohilani resort was beautiful and just as I expected it would be. I was a solo traveler spending 16 days there. I had a partial ocean view on the 38th floor. Nothing to complain about there! The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. They provide room cleaning every two days but I opted into the green program thus cleaning up after myself which I would want no other way. As a bonus for opting in I received a room credit for food and non alcoholic beverages for each cleaning I didn’t take. I loved the location of the resort. Just steps from Kuhio beach. I ate at the Makana Lani on the 2nd level and can’t express how great the 16 oz ribeye was. I’ve had great steaks but this surpassed that. And enough meat to feed me twice. Liam, my waiter, knew my necessity for gluten free and he ensured that I would be okay. I also enjoyed a Cobb salad at the Swell bar. The bartender took extra care ensuring it would be gluten free. My only complaint about the resort was having to leave. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Excellent location and nice hotel. Room was spacious and bed very comfortable. Bathroom wasn’t properly cleaned for arrival (hair on the walls and floor of the shower) and noise from neighbours a bit of an issue. Street noise is loud but to be expected for the area and seems to quiet down around 10pm.
Will never understand resort fees

Good location and room was nice however for the price we paid and for the standard of hotel and the exorbitant resort fee I would have expected basic inclusions like a shower cap, bottled water daily, robes etc. Unfortunately staff weren’t particularly helpful and it took us days to find out what our fee included (by then we had hired items that should have been included). Contacted the hotel directly twice via email and not even the courtesy of a reply. Parking very expensive- better off parking at the nearby Banyan- cheaper and friendly.

Alohilani was a fantastic experience. Beautiful property, shops on-site, amazing dining, and right on the beach. A few detractors:

1. Their computer system was down. This meant they could not print new room keys and any room lockouts required a security escort. This also meant that no restaurants could charge to the room, and therefore, their "go green" program could not reimburse any charges. After bringing this up to them, they offered me a free breakfast, but it too me approaching hotel staff and restaurant no less than five times for them to offer this.

2. The on-site concierge is really there to sell you on a Hilton Grand Vacations timeshare presentation, and to sell Blue Hawaiian Adventures tours. They don't seem to be offering suggestions based on their experience and knowledge. But rather what they're scripted to sell. *everything* costs about $200+. There's much better value to be found doing your own planning

3. The pool and hot tub are constantly swarming with kids. To my knowledge there is no adult swim time, there is no adults-only section, and it was always crowded in general. The beach is more welcoming tbh, despite how cool the infinity pool is.

4. Utilize the on-site car rental service through Sixt. I wanted to explore the island and so I rented a car through an Expedia package. In addition to the cost added to the package, I paid for a damage waiver and liability insurance from the rental agency (I don't own a car and therefore don't have insurance), and between this, and parking at the hotel, I paid $700 for 7 days' rental on top of the actual car rental itself. Would have been much more economical to just rent from the resort the days I needed it (I think I only drove one or two days).

Aside from that, there was a spot missed in the restroom by cleaning, but that's small potatoes. I had a great time and wouldn't mind visiting Alohilani again!

My first stay at this hotel was very disappointing. My room appeared clean but had a dank smell possibly from the carpet, probably caused by the infrequent cleaning policy of every other day. The computer system was down my entire week stay and I was unable to check my account status or room credits. The absolute worst part and the least expected, was discovering upon my arrival home several missing personal items and clothing that I had worn while there. The missing items were carefully selected and the thought that someone other than housekeeping gained access to my room now makes me feel very unsafe at that hotel. In hindsight, the gap under the room door is wide enough to slip a device under that would unlock it. I am saddened to be left with this impression of your lovely island.

Directly across the street from the world famous Waikik Beach. It features an ocean aquarium in the bar lobby area .

My family and I stayed at Alohilani Resort for our first trip to Hawaii. Our room was oceanfront and what a view! This hotel exceeded our expectations. The location is steps from the beach, close to restaurants, walkable shopping and groceries. The room was nice and well kept. The best part was the staff. Some of the friendliest people I've ever encountered. The computers were down for a few days which I'm sure caused some headaches. But you wouldn't know it! The staff were friendly courteous and so helpful. Definitely worth 5 stars and I will highly recommend this hotel!

If you're looking for a beautiful hotel with a great location, friendly staff, and awesome restaurants, this is a must! The ambiance and amenities are exceptional, and the price is very affordable.

Great location, staff is so friendly. Our view was amazing.

We booked this hotel months ago, and were extremely excited for this experience. Upon checking in, we were assigned the closest room to the outdoor pool, that has blasting music from 8am-midnight. For a “relaxing vacation” this is not it. I asked the front desk if a room change was available, and I was told I could not change my room as the hotel was “full but you can try again tomorrow to see if anything has changed”. Upon looking at the booking website, it does indicate that rooms are still available. It is extremely difficult to relax when music is blasting 10 feet from our room at nearly all times of the day and night. For the cost of this hotel, I would not recommend.

Disappointing Stay at a Hotel with Great Potential
Our recent week-long stay in February 2024 at this hotel was unfortunately marred by several inconveniences, despite its prime location and the truly spectacular views offered by the rooms.

The most concerning issue was the lack of basic cleanliness in the room. Throughout the entire week, there was no daily cleaning service, and we were forced to request essential items like soap and toilet paper. Upon arrival, we also received no greeting or acknowledgement from the staff, which was a disappointing surprise considering the hotel's category.

Another detail that detracted from the experience was the state of the minibar. Instead of being stocked with beverages and snacks as is typical in similar hotels, it was completely empty. The only items provided were a few bottles of water and coffee capsules.

The pool area, while the pool itself was well-maintained, presented some drawbacks. The closest lounge chairs to the water, which one would expect as part of the service, came at an additional cost. Additionally, the jacuzzi, while in good condition, suffered from a lack of control regarding guest behavior who are inside.

While the location and panoramic views are definite highlights, the lack of cleanliness, guest attention, and basic amenities significantly impact the overall experience. The hotel has great potential, but it needs to improve these crucial aspects to offer a service that meets its category and guest expectations.

Lady at the service desk was rude. The elevators took forever, but they had a special one for VIP guests. The room was nice and clean but the bed was very uncomfortable like a couch that has spots you sink into. Also if you want a microwave $10 a night. Other than the room and service the hotel was nice it had an aquarium, pool, Café, fitness areas and bar.

This resort is wonderful. We had got a room to active for us. We asked to be move and was quickly moved to new room. Frendly staff. Good food everyday. We stayed two weeks and loved it. We traveled the island using busses. The busses stopped behind resort everytime. Every thing was easy to get to. It was a blessing to stay there.

I was disappointed by the "ocean view" room that didn't have, you know...an ocean view.

I booked directly with Alohilani, so there was no third party confusion. What you book and what you get are two different things.

What I find the most appalling about this is that this wasn't some kind of innocent mistake. Basically the first thing the check-in clerk said after looking us up was something to the effect of "you'll have a view from the balcony". Pointing out this clearly wasn't what I booked got me nowhere. So they very well know it's an issue, but they'd rather have your money than any integrity.

Unfortunately being conned by the people at this hotel robbed me of a piece of my (very needed) vacation, and for that they well deserve this terrible review.

Added photos of what was sold, and the back-of-an-ugly-condo view that was actually provided.
