Stuck in a room with construction going on. Very loud and can't sleep or do work. Was offered by management to move to another room with worse view
I used to recommend people to stay at The Whaler's but no longer can due to the behavior of an owner. This owner is giving this property a horrible reputation. This owner treats locals and residents of Maui with the utmost disrespect including the thousands of displaced residents who lost everything in the fire. She calls them bums and scum and tells them to leave the island. This owner is only here for the money and is despicable. Don't stay here.
My father in law used to stay at the Whaler each year when he comes back home to visit, but due to a certain owner Cindy Sessions Johnson that is very argumentative, hurtful, ignorant and condescending to locals on various Facebook groups, we will no longer be using the Whaler in the future. It may seem unfair to hold a grudge against an entire establishment due to one toxic owner, but because they book through vrbo and we just can’t take that chance that they might inadvertently be supporting this certain owner, we choose to boycott the Whaler out of sheer principal. She should be talked to about her extreme cultural insensitivity.
Sunset from park just north of Condos.. Great location
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed with this price. I’m genuinely warning anyone who is planning to book this place please reconsider. The service is literally NONE.
We have been asking for an extra blanket for the whole night without anybody to help us (They forgot to leave an extra in the room in the first place). The front desk crew was condescending and refuse to help. They kept repeating they are not a ‘hotel’ and we should not be expecting help from them.
On the second day we received this in 9am in the morning with the room staff with worst attitude I have ever encountered from a hotel staff in my whole life. We don’t deserve to spend 700 a night and got service worse than Holiday Inn.
The room is also old, the amenities in the room is ridiculously out dated. If you are booking this place, you deserve better.
The worst service imaginable at any hotel that isn't a motel. Called three different numbers five times and walked down to the front desk before 10 PM and couldn't evem get a blanket. Beautiful beach, but avoid at all cost.
Chill spot. Enjoyable
My absolute favorite place to rent a condo on Maui! Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful grounds and lovely swimming pool. Located on the best beach on Maui and right next to Whaler's Village which is packed with great shopping and delicious restaurants. I've stayed here before and will again!
Excellent place.
Visited a friend who was staying there...nice place!

Grateful for the Whaler patrons and condo owners for opening their property during the disaster relief to volunteers. Everyone was so kind and the owner is present on the property. The hottub and pool closes early at 10, which is something everyone wished was maybe an hour later. It was a beautiful pool area, wonderful coffee in the morning and a refreshing drink served during the day in the lobby. Located on the beach with beautiful SUNSET views. Next door is The Beach Ministry church on Sunday mornings, Hula Grill & Lelanies Grill (5 minute walk). Right past the two beach restaurants is Shops at the Whalers with beautiful outdoor entrance beachfront shops ($$). If you go the opposite way on the beach you will see black Rock bluffs, below is sea turtles and fish. (Locals warned: Do not go to other side of rocks). I saw locals jumping from the black rocks into ocean.
The grounds, pool, pool area & rooms are nice. If you stay here you won't be disappointed.
Red Cross Staff is staying at Aston at the Whaler
Great location and nice property! But the service was one of the worst we experienced. We were at the resort during Maui wildfire and the resort was critically ill prepared. We felt the staff did not care too much about guest's safety. Only announcement that came through from the staff was to not use elevators. Did not have adequate backup (generators) to keep lights on. Will not consider this resort for future Maui travels.
Beautiful grounds and beach.
The location is absolutely stunning! It's right at the beach and mountains. What makes this location the absolute most wonderful place you could visit is the people that work there. They are kind, anticipate your needs, and are all around just fantastic at what they do.
One star is too much for this place. Stayed here for the first time and was utterly disappointed/disgusted every moment that I spent in the room. I go to Hawaii every year and this was the worst trip to Hawaii that I have ever had. Honestly, I couldn’t wait to leave this place. Vacation ruined by nasty accommodations. Room looked nothing like advertised online. Room was dirty, dated and I didn’t even want to sit on the furniture. Mold odor, bathroom rusty and dirty appearing. Kitchen was nasty and I didn’t even want to cook small meals there. Bugs in kitchen drawers in utensil areas. Cringed to even walk barefooted in the room. Room overlooked the roof of the commercial property next door. Each night was too noisy until about midnight to rest. Staff at desk does not care about anything you need, don’t waste your breath asking. Other condo owners at the pool seemed inconvenienced by anyone but themselves being on property. I regretted booking this accommodation every minute that I was there. Just go somewhere else. Don’t fall for this place online. You think you are getting a fantastic room, but you’re not. Never again.
If you want to REST AND RELAX THIS IS NOT THE PLACE
11 out of 10! Loved the atmosphere, service, rooms, and easy access to the beach. It's wonderful and close to everything!
