Aston Mahana at Kaanapali Vacations

The views from this resort are a 5⭐️. The unit we stayed in was clean and nice sized, just little dated. There were some reviews where bugs were found in their unit, we did find one medium sized one in ours. But it was only one and it was at the end of the stay. The location is great for views, but you have to walk to the resort to the south to use the beach as there is coral and rocks on the beach in front of this resort. Most of the staff were great. The only problem with the staff and the reason for a 1⭐️ review is because of the security guard. At 8pm with no one in the pool area he told my 3 kids that they cannot jump in the pool. Which they and I miss heard because this seemed ridiculous. So 5 to 10 minutes later another kid jumped in. That’s when this person who is a “security guard” dressed in a white flannel shirt and jeans told my kids they had to leave. This obviously made me mad and when I told him he could talk to me about the situation he got mad which didn’t help things. I asked who he was and if he even worked there. He told me he was a security guard and that if I had anymore questions he was going to kick my family out of the resort. Which made me even more mad because I still didn’t know what they had done. He then said no jumping is aloud and that it says that on the pool rules board, which it didn’t say no jumping. It said no diving. So know I’m really mad, this is when he said he was going to call the cops. At this point I start putting clothes on and walk towards him, he’s still on the opposite side of the pool as me. He walked away so I went to the front desk. The front desk gentleman was nice and asked if there was anything he could do. I was just asking if this guy really was a security guard. He did in fact work there. My wife calmed me down and we went to the room and the rest of the time at the resort was okay.

Long story short. If you have kids, I’d go somewhere else, I wish I did. I’m sure I’ll get a response to this review saying something along the lines that the resort is sorry about my feelings, but there are other reviews with similar problems. And it seems nothing changes.

Our stay at this hotel was truly exceptional. We were thrilled to discover that our studio room on the 9th floor offered a breathtaking ocean view, which we could enjoy from the comfort of our own balcony. We were even treated to a sighting of whales in the distance, which we were able to observe through binoculars. The hotel's amenities, including a swimming pool. The room itself was beautifully appointed, with a stylish interior that felt like a luxurious studio apartment. The room had fully equipped kitchenette and the provision of all necessary utensils and amenities. Overall, our experience at this hotel was outstanding, and we would highly recommend it to others.

We booked a premium ocean front one bedroom , when we checked in we got a room on the 4th floor (room 408). The condo was old, not updated, and the ocean view was obstructed by the palm trees. After requesting for an higher floor I was told there are none available. I then asked if there were any two bedroom places available, they showed us the two bedroom place and it was absolutely gorgeous (room 1209). I had to play $1500 more for 6 nights. I think there are 1 bedroom that are also updated and higher floors. I would highly recommend this place only if you can get the right condo, the first condo we had would not have been worth the cost.

All the rooms are sea facing. The higher up you are, the more you feel like you are on a cruise.. in the middle of the sea. You can witness beautiful sunsets from your room. The pool and the amenities are good. You are charged extra for the amenities (despite the usage). Restaurants and stores are at a walking distance. The sea gets noisy at night, personally I love the breezy sound, however, some might find it annoying.

This is a must stay hotel at kanapalli Lahaina. Rooms have balcony with ocean view.

Really liked the charm of this hotel. It was exactly what I was looking for and was charming. Shout out to Greg at the front desk he provided excellent customer service.

GERMAN COCKROACHES! Do not stay here. The kitchen in our unit was infested with roaches and we didn’t see them until early morning of the day we were leaving because these roaches are only active at night time. I spoke to the manager Brian there and he didn’t care at all. He said they inspected the unit and couldn’t find any. Sorry buddy I have photos and he didn’t understand these roaches are active at night. Health code violation as well. So gross! Terrible customer service and so gross. Book elsewhere!!

This was our first time to Maui and first time at resort. I have to say I was very disappointed in the resort. We arrived on July 18th and was placed in room 411 which was very dirty and outdated. It was very warm in the room and went to turn on AC, it was not working. I went back to front desk and explained to lady ( who had no name tag on) she moved us to Room 911 and it had air conditioning but was very outdated in furnishing. It was nothing like the pictures I received from my travel agent prior to booking. I went back down and asked for a nicer room and she stated she didn't have nicer rooms. Overall the staff wasn't friendly when you asked for assistance at the front desk. Several times I went to ask to break a $20 dollar bill for singles, fives etc. and was told they never went to the bank for the day so they couldn't provide me change. I was told to walk across the street to the grocery store for change. It was mid day and I would think your staff would have cash bank at front desk. We asked for paper towels the next morning as the kitchen only had a small roll that was half used. You would of thought I was asking for gold, I was asked why I needed them ? I said we are a family of six and there was only a small roll. Why should I have to explain ? We went to the activities desk to book activities for our trip and she asked if she could write down our information and work on it and we could come back after we walked to the store to go get change for a $20. I came back about 20 minutes later which was 9AM and we couldn't find Sally. We went to our room and came back down about 20 minutes later and Sally acted as if she had no clue who we were or what items we wanted to book. We booked Jet Ski's and Ziplining with her. I had been speaking with Elise prior to our trip and she was working on Friday and weekend. We waited for Elise and she booked the remainder of our excursions and she was wonderful!! She was the only positive thing I could share about our trip. Thank you Elise. :) For the amount of money I paid for the stay it wasn't worth the cost.

So far great experience but not a fan of the local bugs in our unit but we're in paradise.

Most incredible ocean view from our room. The rooms are a bit dated, but had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Please BEWARE of extremely strong currents when swimming near the hotel. I got caught in a rip current while snorkeling and nearly drown.

Best vacation stay ever! Perfect ocean view from the suite with all facilities inside the room. Beach access just at the footstep. Great amenities, free parking and friendly staff. Will visit again for sure!

Perfect location in Kaanapali, literally right on the beach, with everything you need!

One thing I hate about vacations is only having a room, and I honestly hate the resort feel. These feel way more like condos, with full kitchens, washers and dryers and BBQs, but with the amenities you need from a hotel: a friendly staff, convenient front desk and concierge for questions, pool, housekeeping when needed, and even shuffle board!

I’ve stayed here a few times with family over the years, but this is the first time I’ve stayed with my husband, and probably the first time in about 2@ years. The property is beautiful and well maintained.

Everything is a little different style wise in every room, but we had a super up to date studio on the ground floor, with a great patio and easy walk out to the beach and pool.

The note beach does have a reef, but it’s great for snorkeling, and walk literally a minute to the left and you have a swimmable area with sand to lounge, and easy access to the boardwalk and Duke’s!

Plus this hotel is very convenient and walkable to a great food truck park, ABC store, Papi’s cinnamon buns, a grocery store, other restaurants and cafes.

We’ll only stay here from now on when coming to Maui!

We had an apartment with a very well equipped kitchen. Everything at your disposal except a kettle.
You had to work hard to get them to clean your rooms. I don't think 1 time 4 days is possible. We mainly paid for the view, without a sea view, it was certainly not worth it. Not a nice beach, lots of stones. For sand 10 min drive. Beautiful sunset view from balcony.
