"Have traveled to Mexico numerous times. The entire trip from booking to arriving and back was one of the better ones. We highly recommend the Barcelo' for its friendly staff, excellent services and above all is VERY CLEAN!! Food is good and recommend you also go for the a la cart restaurants. Ixtapa itself is very beautiful place and very safe. The beach is also beautiful but due to the ocean waves not as conducive for leisure swimmers. We'll go back! April, 2011 Taso, Calgary

Love the beach there, love the area, and love the hotel. The food was wonderful, and the shows were entertaining. Wonderful vacation spot.
I give it a 4 out of 5, and only because there aren't as many restaurants as some hotels have." [...]

"Servers are on a frequent rotation basis. It is very hard to maintain a server / guest relationship as the servers move from one restaurant to another. The ratio of server to number of guests is not very good as I feel there are not enough employees to serve the number of guests. You are always looking for a server to help / assist you or you can't find one at all.
Kids love the hotel, but as an adult, don't expect too much in terms of service even if you tip the servers thru out the stay. If you have a child under 7 yrs old, you cannot eat in the a la carte restaurant "Don Quixote" as a family.
Hotel location for public transportation, shopping and proximity to the city is excellent. Daily evening shows were good." [...]

Rating: "The staff at this hotel are absolutey wonderful. We did not encounter any problems whatsoever, they seemed very eager to please and were not expecting to be tipped all the time. A nice touch is the bar service around the pools, they come and take your drink orders and deliver back to you. Found the food to be fairly good, it can get repetative but always a good selection to choose from.
The hotel rooms are a little dated, mainly because they have painted all the wood furniture, but they come equipped with everything you need. Do take your own shampoo and conditioner etc, as the ones supplied are not up to snuff.
The location of this hotel is excellent too. All the shopping across the street. We paid 5 dollars to take a cab to Zee, but wished we had rented a car to see more of the area." [...]
