Our Opnion

Some tour operators may rate this hotel 4 stars, which it is not. If your budget permits, we would suggest picking a better resort. Be Live Experience Varadero is an older property with some refurbishments. The beach here is excellent, like most of Varadero, and the location is close to town which some people like. Only recommended if the price is right and for travelers who don't mind basic accommodations and facilities.

Be warned! Really the most terrible hotel in a long time. Black mold everywhere, smelly beds and bad service. The buffet room also smells really bad. The food looks bad.

We had booked a villa. Upon arrival it was said that we could check in from 3:30 PM, I then said that the email states that the check-in time is 2:00 PM. I immediately got a sneer from the man behind the reception. The villa we were assigned is practically a large hotel room with a shared living room and kitchen. When you book this, it is not clearly stated anywhere that these are shared spaces. The shower is too gross to stand in with your bare feet, there is black mold everywhere. There is even black mold on the toilet and floors. The walls are also very dirty and there are pieces missing everywhere. The bed had bloodstains and other unknown stains on it. In addition, the bedding smells of mold. The bathroom window was completely hanging out of the frame, so it could no longer be closed, meaning everyone could enter and look inside while you were showering. After a complaint at reception, the window was immediately fixed and the bed changed. The window was kind of torn back into the frame, but no one ever came to the bed.

After insisting, we were allowed to go to another room. We were able to see three rooms and choose one from them. One room even dirtier than the other. Ultimately we chose the least dirty room, but it also turned out to be full of mold. Again, stains in the bed, smelly pillows and a huge leak on the ceiling in the bathroom.

The dinner buffet is also too disgusting for words. Upon entering there is a sour, vomit/corpse smell around the food. The ice cream looks spoiled and you have to look for a plate without stains. The breakfast buffet is not much better.

We left this misery early after a stay of 2.5 days.

The only positive thing about this hotel is that it is located near a beautiful stretch of beach/sea. Anyway, they didn't have to do much for this themselves.

We sincerely wonder why rooms are still offered in this hotel.

We went for 5 days. We had a great time considering the price-quality ratio.
It has bowling inside the hotel, a spectacular beach, great drinks and food. The rooms are super large. There were 2 of us and our room had 3 large beds. The only incident was that it rained and there was a leak in the room. We notified the staff and they changed our room immediately. I would return

We stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks and I can say that everything was great for Cuban standards.
It's important to always give a little tip, then you'll get better service, because usually no one there will stress you out or rush you, which is understandable given the low pay. Finally, I would like to say that it was really a great fit for the price.

Very good lobster good service

The worst experience I've had

Received in the lobby very very badly the boy arrived but was given a room so unsanitary it was crazy, I caught a lung bacteria which caused me to have a fever all week, trip to the infirmary, injection and antibiotics with that I couldn't go to the water and the sun wow for the holidays, complaint to the hotel no follow-up, when we left at check out at 12:00 my bracelet was cut and I was informed that I could no longer go to the buffet and at the bar. I told him that I was leaving the hotel at 5:45 he told me that it wasn't serious, well let's see. So after 7 visits to Villa Cuba it's really the end, a week forgotten and yes by the way I have never had such bad service in more than 20 trips to Cuba

Working myself in a 4-star hotel complex in Quebec, I didn't have very high expectations. But frankly, I was very satisfied with the service, whether at reception, room service, the restaurant and the bar. Very nice staff, tip well at the start of the week and they will remember you ;) Beautiful view from the 5th floor overlooking the sea, however the noise and the music starts early. Not far from the city center, +- 15 minutes on foot. Well varied buffet, pork chicken beef dough pizza soup rice vegetables, etc. Can become redundant but we get used to it. Very well maintained site. IT’S A 3 STAR, DON’T FORGET THAT. First time in Varadero, I am aware that there is better, but there is worse too. Very good price for a single person.

I stayed at this hotel for 7days and it was amazing . Better then 5 star hotels I’ve been too . The food was amazing , fresh , flavourful and tons of options .

I stayed in the Be Live Las Morlas building but also had access to the Be Live Villa Cuba

The food & drinks were way better in the Las Morlas side but I did enjoy the beach restaurant at lunch on the Villa Cuba side

The staff were friendly , my cleaning lady Mary Cary was amazing . My room was always cleaned everyday . Everything in the room worked great & my bed was very comfy . The wifi works great it even works at the beach . If you run outta time the front desk will add more time to your wifi in seconds .

I was here during valentines week and the staff went out there way to decorate the hotel , and set up an romantic dinner .

The resort is big , lots of shops, disco , Cafe and ect that you don’t need to go off the resort but the highlight beside the beach was walking 15mins into town and hanging out with the locals and seeing how they spend there time off . Lots of bars , restaurants and shops in town to browse in

I’ve stayed in only 5 star hotels in Cuba but this was one of the best resorts .

I would highly recommend getting access to both sides Villa Cuba & Las Morlas

Also I must say I didn’t get one bite the whole 7days !! Not one . I didn’t wear any bug spray either. In the rooms there were no bugs either , not one spider , ant or anything !

First visit to this hotel, but about thirty times in Varadero. The location is good, 10 minutes walk from the Beatles and Havana Club. The site is not too big and relatively well maintained. We were in a villa with no hot water all week and a leaking toilet on the floor. The room was OK, but nothing more. The mattresses were not too comfortable and only wooden slats in the windows meant that the room was always full of flies, mosquitoes and insects of all kinds. On the other hand, we had a large terrace and peace and quiet in the morning and evening. The service is good and the employees are mostly welcoming and friendly. The food was edible and the drinks were good. There is a nightclub on site, open not according to the schedule, but according to the employees available. The main lobby building has elevators as there are endless stairs to climb for those who have a room in this building. The buffet, the disco, a bar, a café, an à la carte restaurant are all in this main building where you can easily get lost in the corners and landings. The beach is beautiful as in all the hotels in Varadero. I still recommend this site for the price paid and the beach.

Not worse to date. Buy rolls of cutting tape for the paint gang. It costs less than a bottle of rum or stop making your painters drink rum before they do their job. It will greatly improve the quality of their work. Add frames around the bathroom mirror. Paint the toilet ceiling (using cutting tape) and you're in business. Less than $900 for a week all-inclusive. No one can complain. I met an academic there from Saskatchewan and currently living in the United Kingdom who was doing archaeological research.

Brilliant. All clean. Friendly staff. Good food. We will be back!

I came here for Christmas and New Year's 2023/2024. It was the cheapest hotel available. It's also referred to as Villa Cuba. As expected, the hotel is not new or luxury however, for the price you pay, it's definitely worth it. The front desk staff and security are incredibly kind and courteous. They upgraded our room and always looked after us and our needs. There is an older gentleman who usually does the doors at the buffet and sometimes you catch him at the pool bar downstairs, he is such a gem. The resort is quite large and offers everything any other resort would. The entertainment here is probably one of the best in Cuba. I would definitely return here for the prices they offer. It's worth it. It's also very close to the Havana Strip which makes it easier to walk and save money on a taxi.

The hotel is located on the beautiful beach and the staff in the guest area are very attentive and friendly. The building is getting very old. Electric switches not working. Some smell in the room. Patio door doesn't close... Etc. This can be taken further. If you look at the poverty in the country, then it's worth the 4*, but if you look at it from the perspective of a European holidaymaker, it's worth a maximum of 2 stars. The surrounding area mainly offers hotels. No city is within walking distance or quick to reach. For many Russians and Canadians, it is the shooter of the Caribbean and alcohol flows at breakfast. Public toilets are often without soap and clogged. A bright spot is the friendly staff at the bar and reception. The coffee in the breakfast room is water with color. However, if you go to the coffee bar you get very, very good coffee. The hotel is also very spacious and winding. If you just have to pay attention to the budget and really want to go to Cuba and are undemanding you can go here. I would advise all friends against it.

January 2024
The hotel is very far from 4 stars. The rooms are shabby and not nice, many things are broken, rusty or stuck. When you shower, the water from the tub almost runs into the hallway. The hallway wall is moldy. The room cleaning offers a lot of opportunities for improvement, I can even make the bed better myself. The food offers no variety and there isn't much available. The coffee for breakfast is not drinkable, my tip is to grab a coffee from the coffee bar beforehand. The public toilets are badly damaged and people don't really want to use them. Soap is never provided in all public toilets. The pool toilet was the worst... The urinal overflowed here for several days. The staff was very friendly and nice... A plus point on this vacation. Many try to offer smaller services
...
The WiFi works for a maximum of one day... Then a visit to reception was necessary to extend the account. I would also like to positively mention the evening shows... Very professional and entertaining.

Conclusion? Take the stars down or renovate...

the room was raining inside the day I arrived there was no food available two days later I went to dinner when I sat down to eat I picked up the fork to eat the salad a cockroach came out I will never go there again the service is terrible.

I recommend this budget hotel. Just got back from 1 week there and even though it RAINED for 5 days we still had a great time! The staff is so kind and took good care of us. Activities happened round the clock starting with a fun dart tournament at 9 am. There were also dance lessons and competitions, pool, Foosball, ping-pong .... oh and the beach is fantastic too and a close walk to the town of Varadero. Even the food was good enough fir vegan me and my carnivore kid. Truly I have found my vacation home.

I enjoyed this hotel, everything was perfect for us, the staff was really great, we're going back, that's obvious.

My must-see in Varadero!! After more than 20 visits to this hotel I feel at home surrounded by my family. Old but clean and well located

The location is so beautiful. Right on the white sandy beach. Food is a matter of taste. You shouldn't expect everything to be as perfect in Cuba as it is in Germany. I was very satisfied with the room service and the service in general. All employees are great. Including the bartenders. Many greetings to Joel and Miri. A wonderful vacation. Come back
