Location: Directly on the beach, close to the Puerto Aventuras marina, approximately 15 minutes drive to Playa del Carmen, 60 minutes from the airport.
This resort is rated 4 stars by many suppliers but it is due for a refresh as many of the facilities and rooms are getting date. It might be more along the lines of a 3 or 3.5 star resort now. We would recommend other resorts in the area, like the Barcelo and Bahia Principe properties. Some parts of the beach might be a little rocky, however, there is a lagoon nearby that offers a better entry to the beach. The resort is located in Puerto Aventuras, so it is a longer drive from the airport.

The service can improve, since a certain difference in service is noticeable in several places, especially the buffet restaurants.
On the other hand, pleasant attention from Lorenzo in the Italian restaurant, from Lucero in the creperia as well as the person in charge of the sausages in the pool area.
Karla was amazing and the stretching / yoga class was so awesome.
The best without a doubt the facilities, entertainment team and buffet food. The worst, the service at the ITALIANO LA TOSCANA restaurant, the waiter made us choose between a side dish or a main dish, but not both, it is incredible, we have never seen anything like this. 50 minutes of waiting to be able to eat only a plate of pasta... I want to think that the rest of the team is not so unprofessional. I only thank your hostess who tried to follow us up.

We are visiting from the USA and are having the most amazing time here at the Catalonia. We just finished a beautiful show in the theater it was a mix of Broadway shows! Absolutely stunning. Itzel and Meztli are two beautiful dancers who came up after to say hello and talk to us. It was an amazing experience and they are so talented! We will be back every night.
Clean room,buffet same everyday,no special Ethic days at the buffet.The beach was small with lots of coral.We could always get a chair at the beach if we were early.
