Awful service throughout from the front desk to restaurants to cleaning staff.
SPA massages not only expensive but not worth a quarter the price…don’t seem trained at all.
Cleaning staff left room open and unlocked during stay.
Room not cleaned properly, and not ready for check in. No communication skills.
Overall, understaffed and under-trained, and with very poor attitude.
Terrible service slow to even get a table at the breakfast buffet average ,of 25 minutes despite the fact there were plenty of open tables
Wet towels were left every for hours all around the pool and beach
Oh Colony Club! You have such a gem in an amazing location but let down massively by poor management. The staff just stand around chatting or it takes 1 person to do a job and 2 to watch! Incredibly frustrating! lots could be learnt by full training and management visiting other establishments in the local area to see how it should be run. Even get mystery shopper management to experience what it's like to be the client here. Let's hope after the refurbishment next year Marriot turn this place around!
My wife and I have just spent 12 nights at the Colony Club hotel. It is probably the best experience in an hotel we have had. With great thanks to all the staff from the kitchen, waitresses, waiters and reception. We cannot mention them all by name but special notes for Brian , John and Monica who catered for our every need. This is the only way to thank you all for our amazing holiday. Brian and Elizabeth Newell.👏😉
We have visited this hotel 3 times now each time for our anniversary as we married here in 1998, the first time we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of fizz in our room and a bottle of rum punch, the second time we visited we again were greeted with a bottle of just rum punch, but on our latest which was for our 25th wedding anniversary when we arrived our room wasn’t ready so had wait half hour, this doesn’t seem long but when check in is 3 and you arrive at 5 you expect your room to be ready, when we did get our room we had a complementary bottle of nothing !!! Since Marriot has taken over we found the hotel standards had dropped immensely, the rooms look tired and the tap dripped all the time and when they cleaned the room they failed to sweep our balcony for a 5 days and it only got done on request, the bath never looked clean and the maids turn up every evening for turn down at 6pm when your getting ready for you evening, on previous visits it was later when you were out. On our silver anniversary day there’s was no recognition of this but another couple who were celebrating their silver wedding anniversary the same week were given a complementary meal and a room upgrade….. The drink prices are extortionate compared to when we came 2 years ago, charging $22 for a specialty coffee ( latte) when these have been free at breakfast on previous visits …. Having said that the location is absolutely amazing and 70% of the staff are great (30% not so) the beach is one of the best in Barbados and we’ve stayed all over the island. The water sports are free (not jet ski). We’ve been informed that they will close for a few months in 2024 for a well needed face lift, hopefully with no more price hikes as they have literally doubled since our last visit, we didn’t eat in the evening here because of the price but ate at the top restaurants that were a similar price and better quality….. we will return due to location and just pray they’ve improved
Wonderful place to enjoy holidays. Great F&B, beautiful pools and the beach is the most.
visited for graduation dinner, the food and atmosphere were fantastic
Place needs some updating. The pool has old weird marks inside. My king size beds mattress was lumpy and uneven. Housekeeping came at odd hours, or not at all, and also left used pillow cases mixed in my clothes that were resting on the chair. It rains alot in Barbados, no rug by the door and all tiles through the room can make for a dangerous slippery place. Wait staff in the restaurant were less than accommodating. The incident that stuck with me the most was I asked for honey with the tea that I ordered, the waitress brought the tea and told me to get the honey, pointing in the direction it would be. I looked for the honey, none was there. I ask another waitress, she again points in the same direction. I ask her to show me exactly where, then she realizes that they are out of honey. Would it have been so difficult to take the time from the beginning to get the honey so you could see that you are out of honey? The personnel on the beach saw that we were going to a beach chair on the beach, they offered no assistance with the towels, but willinging set up the next patron that came with towels on their beach chairs and towels for the beach. Not sure if they did that because the other patrons were white and is black. Didn't feel good. Good was just ok. Didn't feel like this place was worth the money spent.
Great hotel but 22 bbd for a bottle of sparkling water? ;)
The food and drinks are delicious overall. Staff nice. Beach gorgeous!
Amazing hotel with the most attentive staff. Would highly recommend to everyone staying on the island.
Hotel is getting very old and needs a total refurb and the staff seemed unmotivated and less happy then all the other places we visited in Barbados - so a management issue perhaps - shame as the hotel could be so great but they have a lot of work to do!
Excellent
Amazing
Note: This is a review of the restaurant in Barbados !! Not Folkestone , which Google have mistakenly tagged. Lovely food- enjoyed the Beef Tenderloin so much, came back to the restaurant a second time during our fortnight stay at a sister hotel ( Tamarind). Book dinner to catch a stunning sunset. Be aware, drinks are a little pricey ( compared to Central London prices)!
Our experience here was not a good one. First the good points: we got into our room earlier than check in - some of the employees were very friendly - the views were very pretty - we had an amazing taxi driver who we were able to call upon a few times - our maid was wonderful and very thoughtful!!
The very wrong issues:
1. This building is not being kept up to a standard that matches the price you are charged. The outside of the buildings have rotted wood and black moldy stains.
2. The main pool was under construction ( they offer you some hotel credits for food etc.) once they finished the construction part of the pool they then started filling up this huge deep pool which meant we had little water pressure. It was not fun having to shower with such little water pressure.
3. The bathtub is very aged. The bathtub faucet was not working correctly - it was very difficult to change the water from bath to shower.
4. Room service would take too long to get ur order and then deliver it to ur room.
5. The television would not work at times. We had a remote that didn’t even have a back to it. The batteries were taped to keep them in.
6 The food was below average yet priced high.
So maybe it was timing but I will not be going back nor would I recommend it to anyone.
I absolutely enjoyed the breakfast buffet! Staff were so friendly and even sang "happy birthday " to me which was quite the surprise! Did I mention the food was lovely?
I definitely recommend 👌🏾
Staff was very nice and the Hotel was great compared to the other hotels that we saw. One pool was being renovated but the hotel made up for the inconvenience. We didn’t even mind that pool being closed. The swim up pools/rooms were not impacted. Our group of 8 friends were 37-47 years old and did not fit in with the vast majority of the over 80 year old retired British guests.
Didn’t bother us and the staff seemed to like the change.
Just got back from the Colony Club. This was our second trip there and enjoyed it just as much. Although the main pool was closed for maintenance there were others to chose from. The food was very, very good and the room was spotless. The staff here really made you feel like part of the family so it was hard to leave. We will be back sooner rather than later!
Well-manicured grounds, an enormous pool meandering throughout, and an inviting white sand beach make for an ideal escape. The staff, however, are the highlight. We came in our anniversary and we're welcomed warmly and continuously delighted with thoughtful surprises throughout our brief stay. Latonya, in particular, went out of way to make our time here memorable. Thank you!
