The view is incredible and the staff is attentive, but it needs urgent remodeling, the rooms look old and neglected, the air conditioning in my room was too loud and prevented me from sleeping, the furniture is old and ugly.

the food was total mess. staled breads and all. will not recommend this place to anyone I love.

Very good ratio of costs and quality, there is a little lack of variety in the buffet and snacks, but from there everything is perfect.

In my life of all the trips we have made to Cancun. We had arrived at an all-inclusive hotel, which appears as 4 stars... But at most it is 2 stars. Not even know where to start. I just wish time could be turned back. For not having chosen this hotel. If you already have reservations, cancel!!!!! They're going to regret it if they don't. In general everything bad. Service, attention, food, activities, cleaning, etc. Travel platforms should not offer this hotel. The price does not correspond to what the hotel offers at all. I am left with a bad memory and bad experience. I should have listened to the comments. Of the page. In general you see all the dissatisfied guests. Terrible, services. Come with an umbrella because there isn't one. And therefore there is no shadow. Very little furniture apart from the dining room for the capacity of guests. It. Same beach furniture. Come with your personal dishes. Apart from being poorly washed. Limited. And it is clear that it is worth it to Management. They act like they go with you to see if everything is okay. You tell them everything that is wrong. And everything stays the same. Lack of more wait staff, insufficient bar man for the number of guests. And bad attitude from them. And yet. They blame you for tipping them

If you only care about the beach you will be happy. It's an amazing view and the ocean is literally right outside...
If you don't mind not having ANY room amenities like a phone, wifi, coffee maker, more than two towels, or a fridge then you will think this place is great. The room and bathroom are so outdated that you will struggle to feel comfortable, not even the chairs on the balcony are good they have stretched out and your butt will literally touch the ground. The bathroom is horrible I would not go in the shower without footware...
Food!!! No Bueno! It is really difficult. There is 1 buffet serving the same food every day lending more towards Mexican cuisine but the food is not fresh unless you get there right when they set it out. It can sit there all day... They have a snack area with burgers and hotdogs but again if you are not there when they put it out first I have no doubt you could get sick.
I have so much to say but this trip has totally exhausted me just trying to find things to eat. I have lived on fruit and I bought peanut butter at a local store.
Oh... room service... we asked how to order because I was throwing up for 24 hours, finally found out you have to call the hotel # to be transfered to room service and they will either not answer or hang up. They only have at the most two people at the front desk so you could be in line to check in for more than a hour...
No matter how much I've tried to push my judgements aside. I can't recommend this place.

TERRIBLE SERVICE! Bad attitude from everyone and 3 years ago WE WERE ROBBED inside our room and TWO more ROOMS that same night! THEY DID NOT TAKE CHARGE and not even a few apologies.

The rooms are terrible.
The water from the shower comes out black at first.
The bed sheets are dirty and stained.
In general the facilities are very neglected and the quality and price ratio is very poor.

The jacuzzi is super cold, just like the pools have no climate, the beach is very ugly, the lounge chairs are already broken, the gym literally has 3 old machines and terrible service, you ask the waiters for something and they never bring it to you and what's more all the dishes are very poorly washed

Some rooms lack maintenance, since they have old property

Nice place, my room had a leak in the air conditioning and the only thing they did was put a cloth and a bucket... Very good service, clean and quiet beach... It would also be ideal if they updated and fixed the mini gym equipment

So I booked this trip as it was the only affordable all-inclusive that I could find for myself and family of four which included two teenagers.. also I wanted to travel to Cozumel as it was a destination I have yet to explore. Shortly after I experienced possible regret due to the numerous poor reviews I found online. I often use reviews as a tool.
Often reviews can be accurate. But in some cases they are not. I have found that people that leave reviews in more cases are the people that are disappointed versus people that were happy with their experience.

We stayed in the old part of the hotel which many people had complaints. Our room was huge, the TV worked with several English channels, we had a great view of the ocean. Our hot water worked although you had to leave it run a couple minutes to get there. The air conditioning worked well enough to keep the room cool. Yes the beds were hard and a little uncomfortable but not a deal-breaker, ask for bed cushions .The room decor was dated showing signs of needing updating. This did not bother us. The room itself was clean, the maids did a good job.

The buffet was limited. Usually about 10 to 12 items. I'm not going to say the food was bad but it wasn't nothing special either. However you could order off of a menu which I found was much better fresh made to order and I thought it was good. Also the hamburgers at the snack stand we're good. There was a lack of fresh fruit and vegetables would be my only complaint. But we never went hungry nor were dissatisfied. The sit-down restaurant was very good. It was a formal restaurant that included a dress code this is normal in parts of Mexico make sure if you're a man to bring long pants and formal shoes. Yes you needed to get up early and make reservations which isn't a big deal most people like getting up early anyways. You could book everyday if you wanted. My previous few vacations have been at a Riu resort where the buffet is excellent with a large variety. If this is your case as well do not set that same standard for this resort or you will be disappointed. However sometimes a more simple menu is better to be honest and we really didn't mind it. What I enjoyed the most was that the resort was much less crowded. Which is something I do not like about all-inclusives. We found that people would act like animals at other resorts that were overcrowded. So this was a breath of fresh air.

Yes the pools were not heated. And honestly I did not mind that. You get used to it right away and it is actually more refreshing I found. They have a jacuzzi tub there it is not meant to be a hot tub it is just a jacuzzi tub. The grounds were clean and nice especially the lobby. The rest of the area including rooms yes we're showing some signs of aging and could use some fresh paint updating here and there ect. But honestly overall no complaints. They had a mini golf course that was really good we used it often. No entertainment during the night which didn't bother me as we just relaxed in the evenings instead. There where activities near the one pool during the day.
Service was good. The man that run the luggage was excellent.
I forgot to mention for breakfast you could sit at the buffet or the indoor restaurant. Between the buffet and ordering off the menu I thought it was good. Keep in mind there are items that they will make for you that are not on the menu you just need to ask. For example bacon for breakfast and chips and guacamole or salsa.
I always tip well at resorts. You get better service and it makes for a better vacation. And the staff work hard.
So if you were like me and worried about the poor reviews and aren't too picky about things and have realistic views. I say there's nothing to worry about. Just keep a positive attitude you will be fine. Just don't set the bar the same as a higher end resort.
However if you are able to find a higher end resort in the same price frame I'd say go for it. Overall we enjoyed our vacation there.

One of the best vacations I've ever had. Beautiful resort, friendly staff, amazing food and drinks. Snorkeling right out front with hundreds of fish.

We’ve stayed at the El Cozumeleno numerous times in the past and thought a return visit would be a guarantee success for family members visiting Cozumel with us for the first time. It’s a quaint resort with decent food. Great snorkeling and beach access. We also always found the staff to be so lively, welcoming, and friendly…which had brought us back time and time again.
Unfortunately, our experience was not good this time around…so bad that we likely won’t return again. Upon arrival we were told they overbooked and couldn’t provide us with the rooms we originally booked and paid for. We did not get the number of beds needed or any of the other amenities that were originally included in our booking for premium rooms. Management was impossible to deal with and even lied to our travel booking agency telling them repeatedly that we received the rooms we requested. At one point, we were shown a room that had an additional sofa bed that could have been sufficient to replace the 2nd bed needed, but the room had large water puddles all over the floor coming from the ceiling! I asked why there was water everywhere and they said they had no idea. The rooms we received were very old and run down - in need of much help cosmetically and structurally! Again…most frustrating was that it did not have adequate beds that we originally booked. One of our rooms even had brown water coming from the shower.

Pools and hot tubs are cold and very dirty. Service in the restaurants was slow and frequently what we ordered never even came. So many of the staff members seemed stressed and unhappy. There were times when I saw senior management treating the staff members with disrespect. The entertainment and activities at the resort were also very limited….there used to be so much more livelihood at the resort. It’s disappointing that the culture and and hospitality is no longer there.

The staff provides excellent service, they are very attentive and friendly, the pools and the beach are the best. The hotel facilities are old, in my room the toilet broke down and there was limescale in the sink and shower, the water that comes out of the pipes has rust, these are flaws that you would not expect for the price of the room.

They could improve in service. Food, it is on the beach and there is no seafood. Activities.... lack of dissemination.

The place is old and not well maintained. Clean, but old and often in disrepair. Staff is slow and has attitude. Especially the reception during check-in in and out. Food is unremarkable, barely okay. On the island that grows pineapple, they serve it canned... seriously. Very poor selection of choices, and it just doesn't taste well. Alcohol is from cheap plastic bottles - disgusting. The mixes they make are over-sweetened so people can't taste bad boose. No lifeguard on the beach.

Disgusting hotel, super bad treatment by the record manager in charge. The food and drinks are good, the only disgusting thing is the rooms and the treatment of the staff. Attached evidence of the room they gave me looks like a cobacha... I do not recommend it as an option to visit Cozumel... By the way there was a cockroach in the room...

The room was nice. Some updates would have made it a 5 star. Bed was too firm for my taste. View was amazing and everything was neat and clean!
Staff was amazing! Manuel, Danny “Devito”, Randy aka Jose, and everyone else we encountered was awesome. They were friendly, helpful, went out of their way to make our stay amazing and they work their tails off.
The grounds were beautiful, the pools were very nice, nicest pools we saw as we visited other hotels in the area. Hot tubs weren’t very hot but the place was constantly being cleaned.
The food was good, if you don’t like what’s on the buffet, ask for a menu. The upscale restaurant was hard to get in (reservations had to be made that morning at 8:00) so we didn’t bother with it. We slept in.
Spa was nice. Massage was incredible.
Great value!

INCREDIBLE! Enjoy the stay and it’s so safe and family friendly. The staff work so hard and are amazing! Book a stay and enjoy the views! No complaints at all!
