Our Opnion

A small yet great hotel. The resort has a very helpful team. The front staff do their best to ensure you have a quick and easy check-in. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained. Make sure to request a room with a view, as some of the oceanview rooms are spectacular. There are lots of food options to choose from. There's entertainment provided every night, so there will always be plenty of things to do around the resort. Amazing location on the beach and there is a wide stretch of sand for those who love long walks. The busy Cancun resort strip is right in front of the resort grounds as well. This is a great location for those wanting to be in the center of the action in Cancun.

This review maybe a bit unfair to all the other wait and pool staff at Solaris. But I am writing it to highlight one incident which really concerned us about how they treat their guests.

- TLDR; the hotel is average, food is just Ok or below par, they dont let you easily reserve restaurants (software design seems on purpose to reduce costs). The front staff seemed to just do a bare minimum job to get by, no hospitality. The room service agent was rude. The facilities were at best 3 star. I won't care to repeat this experience. I got review trapped, wish I would pay a little bit more to choose a standard, better brand resort.

- Ok so the reason for 1 star is: First day at breakfast we ordered and got served a specific drink. Next day we requested again, the waiter informed us that it was only available to Club members and we told him we got them yesterday, maybe he is mistaken. He came back and again informed us the same fact. We were ok with it and continued dining. Then the manager for the breakfast buffet approached us and it was one of the most rude conversations we had. She told us again that drink is only for members and she wanted to know who served us yesterday. We declined to tell, stating we couldn't remember. She was outright aggressive and kept escalating her tone and voice to almost a threatening tone, of tell us or else! We have never ever had to bear this level of raw and rude behavior from any resort staff, be it Mexico or anywhere else. I don't think this was a miscommunication in culture or anything, she meant business. We politely declined again and told her we would like to be left alone.

The resort needs to train their people to not use aggressive tone with guests for such benign situations. Maybe the server made a mistake and that happens and if you want to play Sherlock keep your poor guests out of the interrogation chamber. Shame on that manager and shame on the terrible work culture you have created there.

We were at a little pub by the lagoon called 19.5. Worth the find. Friendly service and a great spot to watch the sunset in Cancun without spending a lot of money

Beautiful place and excellent service

It was my first trip to Cancun and I had heard great things about the GR Solaris. I took a trip for my birthday and my sisters birthday in November with my three kids and we arrived at the hotel about noon. Firstly, we were told our room wouldn't be ready until 3:00 PM check in time. I asked very nicely if there was anyway I could pay an additional fee to get our room a little sooner since we had taken a flight that departed at 4:00am the night before and we hadn't slept. The kids were tired and wanted to nap. The front desk staff was very rude and not accommodating at all. They advised that I would have to wait until 3 PM in the lobby or around the resort till our room was ready. Mind you this is a hotel that has 12 floors and many rooms and I'm sure they could have spared a room a little sooner and I was willing to pay the additional fee but they were not what so ever accommodating at all. Then, I had arrived to surprise my sister earlier than her flight and I asked if there was any way we could decorate for her a little section or if they would help me surprise her and again the hotel staff members declined. They were very rude, mean and arrogant. To ease my mind of how upset I was being that it was our birthday trip I go and book 3 massages, one for me, my sister and my mom. The ladies at the spa were able to get us appointment so we booked but they were not very nice either. We book a tour from the hotel that took us to Tulum and we hit traffic on the way back to the resort. We arrive for our massages 15 minutes late and were cancelled. They were not able to rebook us or accommodate us again and the ladies were very mean and rude. My kids are picky eaters and at the buffets I asked some of the waiters and cooks if they would be willing to make me plain white rice since I saw they had made rice but incorporated some raisins and vegetables in it and I told them I was willing to pay and again they very rudely said NO. My kids only ate while we were there chicken nuggets and French fries the whole stay 4 night 5 days. Overall I didn't like the quality of service this resort offered because they were not accommodating, warm, welcoming nor willing to give the guests the time of day. It was what it was and if you didn't like it you couldn't complain because they gave you an attitude and didn't care. I think that for people to be in the field of tourism and customer service, mostly all the staff members need to be retrained in how to have a friendly attitude and be able to provide hospitable service to their guests. What they fail to understand is that some people work hard to save their money to go away on vacation with their family and on special occasions. And the last thing we look forward to is having to deal with people who have a bad attitude, are very arrogant, lack empathy, lazy, mean and will not accommodate you to the simplest things even if you're willing to pay for it. I would go back and revisit Cancun but I probably will not stay at the GR Solaris ever again because of my horrible experience. I was looking forward to a great birthday and being able to relax and all I came home was with more aggravation and disgusted at the way those people treat their guests. I rate them a 0 in customer service.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you’re travelling with your family or if you are latin as well we travel with our 2 year and 9 year old from canada. We became members as well but not worth it at all. After all the conversations we had with the people trying to get us in to membership we thought some of the service offered at the hotel was going to change but same thing, also you lost time they tell you the presentation will last about 1.5 hrs and it last almost half a day and they offer ‘gifts for your time’ but they do not worth it at all. Service is awfull and buffet menu is not very wide if you’re travelling with kids is not good idea staying here also you cant even stay at the principal pool because there is so much noise which will scare kids away. From what i see is they should bring all the activities and noise to the adults only pools or at least make less noise for parents so they can relax in big pool with their kids. People is not friendly here and i been in different hotels from what i see playacar are more friendly than in cancun. After all tye reviews they always answer they will try to change or bring up the concerns to their respective departments but nothing improves from reviews that i read. I make sure all my frends and relatives stay away from this kind of hotels and make sure write this review in every platform i know. I don’t usually take my time in writing such a long review but for being a “5star” hotel it is more likely 3 stars.!

Overall 4 star is because of Food as we been told they have lots of good vegetarian options which wasn't there.

Besides that it's worth to go there with lots of daily activities and fun stuff with clean resort.

Awesome place, outstanding view & excellent service.
We just returned home today & have started missing Solaris already. We enjoyed a lot. Will come back again.

We went to the Grand Solaris in Cancun at The end of January, first visit there, 3rd time in Cancun. The Entertainment Team was exceptional, "Leo", "Ruben" (great show host), "Whiskey", "Israel", (great in the GYM) were very "entertaining" and Friendly. "Nina" on the Entertainment Team also performs in the Evening Shows. All of them are managed by Jona and Kobe is a great stage / sound manager and both very professional.

The rooms were spotless, modern and updated. Housekeeping was great. Jonathan and Carlos at the Buffet very professional.
The Restaurants Marco Polo (Leon Great). ZAI Asian Cusine were Top Notch.
Just one area for improvement and that is the Hotel APP for booking the Restaurants. It is very frustrating to have to go online at 7:00 AM, each morning they day of, to book an a la carte Restaurant and find the only time available is 9 pm. Also the staff work exceptionally hard and tips / gratuities are not only earned, but so appreciated. We will return.

I absolutely fell in LOVE with this resort the moment I stepped foot in it. It’s only about 15 minutes from the airport which is great. The service was a 10/10 from the very beginning. I have to give a big thank you to Leo, Israel, Nina, and the rest of the entertainment staff. They were exceptional when it came to providing entertainment and talking to you, making you feel at home. The bar staff, especially, Enrique, De Dios, and Angel, were phenomenal. Helped me try out new drinks and gave me exactly what I asked for. Feliciano at Marco Polo also treated us very well. The only problems we really had were at the cafe but other than that everyone else was great. Our room was beautiful with a view of the ocean. Doesn’t get better than that. It was our first time there and cannot wait to go back! If you’re thinking about booking at GR Solaris, don’t think twice about it!

The room had a shared door with another room and you could hear everything they said and the noise, the buffet is not big but the two sessions are of the same food and it is not very good

False advertising alert: I chose Oceanfront and got oceanview. They have no oceanfront rooms. Food was terrible. Super greasy, and tasted like leftovers. Even if you make reservations at nicer restaurants, the food was still terrible. Not much Hispanic food. It was mostly seafood (like mussels and octopus, not shrimp and sea bass) and a lot of poorly made greasy half seasoned Italian leftovers. Burgers, pizza, and hot dogs at the pool were terrible!!! You get about 3 tiny potato wedges not fries. Best option is the fruit. The sodas are flat. The staff provided just enough customer service to not get complaints but they did not go above and beyond at all. Now they cleaned the rooms well. Oh and the rooms are outside so anyone can walk up to your room door. Conjoined room door was not locked and you can hear people walking up and down the halls and hanging out in rooms next to you. It is very loud and scary because the doors are not within a locked building but anyone can walk up. My outlets were very weak and could barely charge my phone. Mostly male housekeepers. They cleaned well but I felt sort of uncomfortable being that it was just myself and my daughter. Basically, the price will look good online but the experience is underwhelming. Go
Luxury when visiting Mexico, because it can get worst than you think and it’s hard to make changes once you’re already there.

Such an amazingly relaxing and peaceful place it is! We recently visited Cancun and had our all inclusive stay here in GR Solaris. Variety of drinks, food, activity area. Everything was amazing, all the staff being super co-operative to all the guests. The only drawback I would point out for the people who are vegetarians is that the resort doesnt have much option for you to eat, as most of the food has eggs/meat in it. They should consider an option that vegetarian guests do face alot of problem as they have hardly anything to eat during their stay in an all inclusive resort. Otherwise, all others things best in the resort. Worth visiting!!

First time we been GR Solaris. It it Wonderful Resort, really good service, all staffs are awesome, they have a lot energies to make fun time for everybody. Definitely highly recommend👍

It is one of the best places to come on vacation, since it has everything you need for your stay.

Love the view from my room looking out into the ocean. Food was good, and changes nightly and the staff were all fantastic! All kind and friendly. The beach is right in the back of the hotel, your can enjoy the sunrise! I also love the shows they have at 9pm. Would definitely return again.
