Sooooo disappointed!

Before our arrival I asked the hotel to make us a pretty decoration on the bed with l "happy honeymoon" (simple request). I asked them twice before arriving and both times the staff told me that my request had been taken into account: on the D-day there was absolutely nothing.
The staff at PALAPA and 23 are super super rude as hell. The service is mediocre apart from at reception and the service of towels and jerk restaurant. The PALALA staff make fun of the customers' physical appearance and in front of them. Be careful with your bills, they love to add extra things.
The cleaning staff: rude as well.
Anyway, very very disappointed that my honeymoon was spent in this hotel. Luckily I decided to spend my other nights elsewhere.
Don’t spend your time there except if you want to feel disappointed.

I’m sorry to say that I can’t recommend this resort. My husband and decided to take a quick trip for the first time since having kids 7 years ago. We decided on exumas because it is so easy to get to from Florida, which meant we could blend a quick trip with a remote paradise. We booked grand isles because it appeared to be the nicest hotel in the area. And definitely the most expensive at $800 for the lowest price room mid week at low season. We have been disappointed since we arrived. The resort is very tired. It is not luxury at all. At the pool and beach they just hand you a small towel and you find your own seat. The pools were both dirty and not heated. The spa advertises couples massages but when we called to book a week before arriving, they said they only have one person at the spa. So we could not go at the same time any day during our trip.
After being disappointed by the resort I came to my room thinking I would take a hot bath. But as I was trying to close the stopper, which doesn’t work, I noticed tons of hair and gunk. I am so sad, I wish we had stayed home and just enjoyed our warm and clean pool and our clean bath tub. Lesson learned. Just pay $200 more and go somewhere with a four seasons. I will say the staff has been nice and pleasant. They are honest too which is good and bad- ‘the pool was heated a few months ago, not sure why it’s so cold today!’ And ‘the ocean view in your room isn’t really a great ocean view, but technically we call it that’ :-(

Grand Isle is beyond incredible. My family and I could not imagine staying anywhere else on Exuma but Grand Isle. It was my 5th time coming here and my other family members even come twice a year because it’s just so amazing.

The food is great, especially at 23 North, the location could not be better, the beach is very private unlike other resorts I have been to in the Caribbean AND THE STAFF IS PHENOMENAL. The Grand Isle team is what really makes our trips so special and tranquil.

Jay, Paul, and Kamal thank you so much for always taking care of us. You guys are so amazing and never fail to go above and beyond. All of you deserve way more than five stars!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you and we’ll see you next year!

Absolutely magical spot.

Could not give Grand Isle Resort higher marks after our 5 night stay. It was a perfect venue and spacious for our family of 4 visiting the island for the first time. The onsite amenities were top notch and it felt like an effortless getaway!

Not worth the price

Amazing place, a small piece of heaven

Wonderful experience. The staff ready everyone like family, and truly want to do anything they can to make your visit memorable.

Grand Isle is a well maintained and located resort. Although the decor and appliances are dated everything was in good condition and working order. Staff is super friendly and helpful. We ate twice at 23 North, excellent food and service.

Very expensive, but worth it all

Excellent option for a relaxing time and recharging. Gorgeous views and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Excellent property. Staff are all very friendly and excellent.
Go and enjoy 😉

Kevin & Kevon are absolute wonderful gentlemen!!!! Always making sure everyone is taken care of and have not a worry in three world!! No matter if it’s drinks, food or places they have the best recommendations for you! Been coming here since 2018 and we love it!!

Stopped in for drinks and appetizers since we were staying on a boat in the Marina. Outstanding location and service.

The star of the show at Grand Isle is the accommodations… especially if you’re traveling as a family.

The good:
- The property is beautiful and even at full capacity has spare chairs at the beach and pool. Both are relatively protected and have loads of toys for kids (no need to bring your own). We enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, playing basketball in the pool, etc.
- The villas are huge and for the Carribean have amazing AC, showers, etc. We stayed in a 2b/2.5bath that had a washer and dryer which turned out handy.
- The spa was fabulous. Massages should be a must have. Schedule far in advance if you can.

The not so good:
- Palapa for breakfast / lunch / dinner was soooo so very slow. We waited on average 45 minutes from ordering for food that was just average.
- “Most” of the staff was kind… but not friendly. Not one person went above and beyond. Not one person tried to get to know us, which we’ve found is highly uncommon at a smaller resort. You’re relatively ignored until you / unless you, speak up.
- Mistakes; we had small issues with our bill being wrong, the airport transport not being updated, having to repeat questions/asks, etc.

Would we stay again as a family? Probably; but this resort could be five stars if they improved their operations and encouraged staff to be more proactive and outgoing.

Our bartender was McCallum great guy, great service, Tyrone was a great help! The waitresses was great! Awesome place! Thanks so much for a wonderful dinner.

rst off, huge kudos to Emerson, Paul, Timel, and Dellareese for their exceptional dedication and effort—they're phenomenal! While they truly shine, I must address some concerns about the overall experience. Regrettably, our WiFi consistently struggled and was limited to the upstairs area. Dellareese cleaned amazingly every day, but apparently, someone else is supposed to come mop. It's supposed to happen on the 4th day per the reservation, I requested it three times and it never happened over our week stay. Moreover, the culinary offerings were underwhelming, falling short of the expected standard for a 4-star resort.

Acknowledging it wasn't peak season, I understand Emerson might not have been available every night to cater to families. Nonetheless, what drew me, all the way from California instead of choosing closer destinations like Mexico, Fuji, or Hawaii, was the exceptional customer service I encountered from Emerson during my visit in August 2022. Staying nearby, I found myself frequenting the resort more due to Emerson's fun presence and the stunning waters. Despite the occasional water quality issues (beyond anyone's control), the abundance of staff members could have significantly bolstered the customer experience.

It was disheartening to notice that despite the ample staff, there wasn't much engagement. In contrast, Timel stood out—remembering my name and drink preferences while serving on the beach, demonstrating exemplary service.

Overall, this stay left me quite disappointed, once what I used to call my favorite place in the world, I often recommended it as an ideal elopement destination (selfishly so I could come back). However, this visit did not meet my expectations, and sadly, I doubt I'll ever come back. Although, Emerson - if you ever want to throw a party in California let me know! You know how to make everything fun for all ages!

What an amazing experience! We had the best vacation ever. The people were so friendly and made everything so wonderful.
