Our Opnion

The Grand Oasis Cancun would be the perfect destination for young travelers and those who fancy the 'Spring Break' atmosphere. The resort itself is incredibly big. The suites are well-kept and maintained. However, for the price you pay, it isn't as luxurious as other resorts. This place is notorious for its party atmosphere. The pool area gets incredibly busy, as they host a lot of entertainment and dance parties there. The hotel is also near the downtown core, where a lot of bars and nightclubs can be found. The resort offers a shuttle service to these areas for a small fee. However, it's a safer way to go from bar to bar, especially since it's away from the resort grounds. The buffet item choices tend to get a little old. While there are more luxurious resorts to choose from, the Grand Oasis Cancun is a great place to stay if you're a young traveler wanting to have fun!

DO NOT STAY HERE. We have been on plenty of vacations and this has been the worst, we cannot wait to get back home.

Our shower broke, nobody ever came to fix it. We sat in the tub splashing soap off. Imagine that with 2 kids. The room is very outdated. Our friend who traveled with us paid the same and got a nicer room, newer room. But her toilet also overflowed while we were out at an excursion. When compared, we were told that our room was the upgraded room, not hers. WHAT A JOKE. Because we were in the pyramid, we were “upgraded” with the issues we had lol.

The worst of this entire trip, the spring breakers are loud, immature, obnoxious and care about nothing or nobody else around them. They stand around the bars hogging every inch, shove others around in food lines, curse and yell out loud for the attention, even in restaurants and buffets. And guess what? Staff doesn’t do a single thing about it. They don’t care. These immature kids were banging on doors all around us, slamming doors, yelling outside of our rooms, listening to loud music, all until 4-5am! Nobody got any sleep. We tried calling downstairs every night and nobody answered. But looking at reviews here, they wouldn’t have done anything anyway just like my shower.

The food is absolutely disgusting. I’m left begging my brother not to have his wedding here as we came into town wedding venue shopping. Did a site visit tour to find out that they didn’t even show us the ballrooms they had. They showed us 4 spaces and said that was all. We found other Ballrooms ourselves as we were walking around. We did talk to others around here and not a single person said they will return. The spring breakers think they own the place and staff acts like it too.

Drinks are not allowed inside the building. If you’re traveling with kids, there’s no place here for kids except kids water area. No public places for us to sit at outside. There’s a small arcade attached to the bar lol yes the bar… full of spring breakers again… and they expect my kids to be around the obnoxious crowd.

I wish I didn’t have to give this place even a 1 star, but since I am now, it can go to the spa team. They were the only awesome people here.

All started from them asking us to move to another hotel, because it is spring break and hotel full of young people and it will be loud, noisy etc. We moved and ask for hotel to book us reservations to restaurant in the evening and because they can’t do today for tonight- they did for next day on my app on my cellphone. Next day we dressed up and went to restaurant and find out it is closed and workers putting tiles there, and fixing restaurants. We went back to concierge to find out they don’t have our reservation in the system. Anyway just wanted to warn you about all this before you come . Also he ready beds on beach or clubs will cost you money, they will try to sell you timeshare or visit presentations. Just want you 🇲🇽 For the first it was ok experience. Will be more prepared for next time.

DO NOT STAY AT THSI RESORT!!!
The resort is covered in bird poop! It even gets in the pool! The restaurants require reservations but they’re all booked up. The buffets have horrible food that is not safe to eat. Health inspectors should close the buffets! The rooms smell of mildew. The buildings are so old and in need of repair. The pyramid in the middle is reeks of cigarette smoke. This place is just gross. We checked out immediately and the resort REFUSED TO GIVE US A REFUND.
There were multiple guests checking out to go to another resort. I doubt they got refunds either. We were out $1700 but I there’s no way I was going to stay there and risk my kids health. Please stay away.

The exterior image, hallways, sea view are spectacular but inside the room leaves much to be desired, the service provided by the waiters in the restaurants (with two exceptions) does not meet expectations either considering the hotel's classification.

Why are the reviews so bad and they are rated 4 stars how is that possible
Can Someone let me know how a resort like this can stay in business
I’m due in and scared to death. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I heard this was a family oriented can someone let me know as we have young kids with us

Pure syrup drinks. Specialty restaurants without availability. The only place that was saved on the last day was a cafeteria and the ice cream girl has a tremendously cheerful attention. Without safe deposit box.

Stayed for a week
I will start with the cons first
If you stay at the Grand Oasis and not the pyramid you are excluded from a lot on the resort.
This includes over half of the lounges on the beach and like every resort the lounges are claimed by 7am
Not all the restaurants are included and are an additional cost
The outdoor food court has condiments including mayo just sitting out in the sun, we heard a lot of people stating they got food poisoning.
There seems to be quite a few disgruntled employees working there.
Buffett food is inedible!
Red casino has to be the worst customer service in the resort!
They charge you tax on the money to put on you red casino card to gamble with first.
I was charged $20.00 USD on the $100.00 I put on the card
It’s advertised that you get free drinks while playing ……
but charge you for water and soda?
The rooms are outdated but decent, didn’t like the step in bathtub/ shower combo
Now the Pros
It’s a an absolutely beautiful resort with a large pool and plenty of bars around
The specialty restaurants are decent and the food is edible!
Our A/C broke at 12:30am and the staff was quick to get us a new room by 1:00am because the A/C couldn’t not be fixed right away
So the cons do over power the pros
And if you choose this resort you need to be prepared to overlook the cons

They are rubbish in customer service and zero billing, full days asking for my invoice with no response and if you call by phone they have you on the line and no one answers, a certain Dulce Salmoran does her job poorly and is never there, it's a shame because my status was good except that when requesting the invoice they reluctantly send an email and no one answers, I will inform the SAT that they do not give invoices to know their opinion

I stayed at this hotel the first week of August, the hotel is a little old, it shows in the rooms. They have better treatment with foreigners. The problem I had here was that on my last afternoon at the hotel they forced the door to my room (2395) and stole my cell phone. I never left my important belongings in the room, but that day since they had already cleaned the room and no one was supposed to come in, I left my cell phone, I would only go out for an hour, I didn't think there would be any problem. The security employees checked the room, searched all the suitcases and drawers (it was not pleasant that they rummaged through all our belongings) and sent someone from maintenance to fix the door that was noticeably forced and that anyone could open by just inserting a key. card on one side of the sheet without any effort. They said they would do an investigation that would conveniently last 48 hours, and I was due to check out of the hotel the next day at 9am, so they said they would contact me. I left all my information, but they never communicated. When I spoke to the hotel to find out what the investigation had turned out to be or if they would be responsible for what happened, they just passed me from one phone to another, said they didn't know about the case, or simply hung up on me. To this day I do not know what happened to the "investigation" they carried out. TERRIBLE SECURITY how this could have happened.

I will return next year.....

I will share the good, the bad and the worst about this resort!
Let’s start with the good, the property is nice with several pool areas to choose from and there is access to the beach …
The bad was….
1. the food —we only went to the buffet but the food was cold and looked like it had been sitting a while though my husband liked the sushi. I saw a roach by the bread area and it was not enclosed or covered.
2. The room was literally 2 football fields from the front desk.
3. Now on to the worst it was THE SERVICE it would take forever to get anyone to help us with even the basic things for example there were no blankets on the bed so my husband called the front desk three times the first 8 hours with no results so he went and talked with the concierge on day 2 three separate occasions and we finally got blankets about 8pm on day 2.
4. 2nd night (and last) there was no hot water in the shower I ran it on only hot for a while and it eventually got warm enough to take a QUICK shower.
5. The only thing to do is eat and pool/beach time no other activities that were of any interest.
My husband and I went to a different resort on a tour and decided to go there for the rest of our 5 night stay.
There are many other reasons but just wanted to say if you choose this resort you will regret it!!!

My experience with this resort was honestly great for my wife and I, especially for the price that we paid! We got the basic blue wrist bands and we were able to dine at least once at all the reservation restaurants which was satisfying. Maybe if we paid top tier prices, I could understand some of the negative reviews but for us, it was a blast. Yes, it is a bit of a party style hotel (maybe not the most suitable if you are looking for a quiet time - especially towards the Gecko/ club area of the area) but there are so many things to do! It almost feels like your at Disneyland with all the events that are happening throughout the week. The Oasis beach parties, all sorts of shows that are happening, we never got bored throughout are whole 7 night/ 8 day trip. Even on our last day, after checking out, it was nice to be able to use all the places at the facility including the buffet, bar, and pool before our airport transfer arrived. It's a big resort with lots of people there but as long as you go a little earlier to the buffet, you can pretty much start eating right away. 2 buffets on opposite corners and the food was decent. The walls might be a little bit on the thin side but overall I would definitely go back. The staff was nice, the location is awesome, and the pool/ beach area is super nice!

This hotel is where my wife and I spent our honeymoon almost 28 years ago. It has changed a bit in terms of new constructions along the ocean side but continues to be a very nice and beautiful hotel. The room is small, and the safe box required payment per night if you want to keep your belongings out of risk of being stolen, something that should be included in the price as courtesy for a hotel this level.
The ocean view is marvellous though, with 3 different shades of blue: navy blue farther away, a lovely turquoise colour in between and a light greenish blue by the shore. I had forgotten how pretty it is!

The hotel has many deficiencies.
It is a 2-3 star hotel, not 5.
The hair dryer in the bathroom was bad.
In the room the air conditioning is old and sounds ugly, you cannot sleep with it on, apart from that they only put sheets on the bed, I had to ask for a blanket because it gets cold.
The attention is regular.
The drinks are regular.
The buffet is regular and varied.
The good thing is access to the beach, but if you want lounge chairs you have to pay for them.
The issue of the bracelet greatly limits the places and restaurants, be careful which one you buy.
You can never communicate with reception.
The Wifi is free and good, you even have it on the beach.
Important: do not go as a family, many drunk kids doing shows at all times.

My Review of Grand Oasis has been divided into headings

Black Mold Made my Group SICK
- it was 4 of us (two couples) staying in seperate rooms, by day 3 my friends noticed that they were congested, headaches, light headedness, coughing, and coughing up blood and sneezing out blood!!!! Upon further inspection of the vents in the room we found BLACK MOLD
- We complained, showed pictures and after a lot of back and forth finally got the room changed but was promised that we can speak to the manager. This happened on day 4/5
- Now on the day of checkout we still haven’t gotten in contact with a manger, my friend went to the concierge to follow up again and she straight up LIED and said that we never complained about being sick and the black mold. If that’s true then why was the room changed?!?!?!
- Finally the “supervisor” who shows up insists that they look fine, not sick at all, probably sick from something else.. but it made no sense. He finally told them to follow him to go see a doctor in Building 1. The supervisor took them to a random spot in the atrium area then LITERALLY RAN AWAY!!!!!! Like a child he ran away saying “sorry I cannot help you”. This man was wearing a grand oasis tag that said building supervisor.
- Horrible experience, out of the 4 of us, 3 are now coughing and sneezing out blood (my boyfriend and spent many hours hanging out in their room in the beginning)

Room Service
- I stayed for 7 days and they only cleaned our room ONCE, and that was because I asked them to finally on day 4!!!!
- At least 2 different times after that, they came into our room while we weren’t there to remove our used towels (that weren’t even on the floor) but didn’t replace them and give us new towels?!?!?
- One night I messaged on their app for the concierge saying that I needed new towels. For over 4 hours no one came to my door. I eventually fell asleep (for context I’m a very light sleeper, if someone knocks, says a greeting or anything I wake up). When I woke up I messaged the app again asking for towels and I just happened to get up to walk to the bathroom and I saw two folded up towels on the bed next to where I was sleeping!!!! So they came into my room without announcing themselves and left towels on my bed next to my sleeping body. How WEIRD and unsettling. To add fuel to the fire, 1 of the 2 towels had rips and tears and seemed like a floor towel

*Resort Itself*
- very old buildings
- Weak plumbing, toilets typically jam and they have signs to NOT flush toilet paper. One of the public washrooms was leaking water, my friend and I told a hotel staff who dismissed us. 10 minutes later the entire building lobby area was flooded with what smelt like poop water.
- Outside of building 2 smelt like poop water/sewage the entire time

*Bedrooms*
- the phone does not work (I was here with other couples and none of their phones worked). You try to call for help or the desk and you always just get a busy tone. The app that connects you to a concierge is also unreliable
- The water pipes were extremely old, lacked water pressure. Within room bathrooms and all other water pipes
- Furniture/supplies used look old and outdated
- The clothing line in my bathroom was literally dirty black

*Food & Drinks*

- food has been absolutely horrible here. No authentic Mexican dishes offered, random put together dishes with no seasoning
- I will admit that I feel like most of the food in Cancun was bad. I ate both on and off the resort and haven’t been impressed YET
- Drinks were disgusting, the syrup they put in everything is cheap and artificial tasting. Every single drink tastes watered down, no exaggeration
- Only good food was chicken strips and fries at a chicken hut. Isn’t that ridiculous????
- All bars close by 11
- All food closes at 11/11:30
- Literally the worse food I’ve ever tasted in my life here!!!!!!!!
- There is also always long lines to wait in for their subpar food, it’s ridiculous. For resort this size you’d expect them to have more options for their guests.

This place is a disappointment.
At first it seems like a good hotel, but from the moment you check-in you are already struggling.
Old rooms, with air conditioning problems, bathrooms, etc.
There is a lack of variety in the restaurants and there is a line for everything because they cannot cope with the staff, those who serve you. 90% were reluctant, generally slow and with bad service.
Only restaurants where we paid to have in-person service were the good ones, highlighting Dos Lunas.
Makitako is good.
The rest very simple and slow.

We booked the trip in November and read nothing but bad reviews until we arrived the last week of January. Of all the reviews the only negative part for us and our 2 girls was the check in and the Friday, Saturday night local weekend crowd. Check in took 45 minutes of standing in line then 15 mins at the desk. The room was decent and clean, fridge was restocked 4 times over the stay with pop, 6 beers and water. It was loud in the halls for 2 nights with the weekend party crowd coming back from the bars downtown. The food was typical all inclusive buffet style, same at any other resort we have ever been too. During the day there were multiple options at the different vendors around the resort The reviews definitely paint the resort a terrible picture which it really isn’t. We would definitely stay at the resort again.

Oh my Goodness!
I don’t believe this hotel Grand Oasis 4 stars up ?
For me I go around the world the first time I booked hotel very very bag ! I booked all inclusive it’s mean pay including everything ( including taxes) but when check in . no porter help , no welcome drinks .. wait Long time.. and they charge extra tax 75 usa$ / room ?? Must pay no choice 😪😪😪
After going find room your self…… very tired …!!!
oh my goodness … can’t open the door they mistake make wrong room ….. ..!!!!
😪😪😪😪😪😪
I reservation ocean view but the room I see big buildings first after.. see ocean …😪😪
Ask them why ? they tell this is room ocean view ???
Inside the room safety box it’s don’t work ? Can’t locked?? Ask receptionist ? they tell me if want safety box work must paid 10$ / day …
😇😇😇 … 😪😪😪

Currently staying in this hotel room 42**, what a scam.

In sum, come to Cancún, visit Mexico, do not, I repeat, do not stay in this hotel.

I paid many thousands of euros for an “all inclusive” room only to find out that most of the facilities advertised are not included. Many, if not most of the bars/restaurants are not included. The ones that are, have awful waiting times and if you want a bottle of wine, guess what, it’s not included and you have to pay.

It’s so ridiculous that even the safe in your room is an extra of 11dollars per day.

There are a lot better choices around, when you see the advertisement that “it’s all included” keep in mind it’s not and what is included is very low quality.

This is the worst resort ever!

Long story short: don’t stay here. If you’re an adult with no kids - don’t stay here.
GO to the GOLDEN PARNASUS HALF A MILE AWAY. their food Is excellent. The staff are very kind and helpful. They make great drinks any variation you want. The rooms aren’t that well but are okay. everything else is spectacular. Better than the oasis.

Long version: when I tried checking in - they took me to 3 people before I got to the person who actually checked me in.
They trick you and ask for your documents and fill out this sheet with your info. (This sheet is to prep everything to sell you timeshare/memberships). They take passport info and all to sign you up for stuff they don’t disclose.
I Hated the way they want to sell you timeshare with lies. They tell you they are having promo to gift you either a massage for two, a trip to isla mujeres, or a pirate ship cruise. Don’t fall for their tactics.
I understand they need to make sales - but be upfront about it. Don’t wake me up at 8am to go to “breakfast” just so you can do a presentation of 90 minutes about having a membership with the hotel. No thank you. I hate that. Don’t lie. Once I got the gist of what was happening I straight up told them “I am not interested and will not be purchasing anything”. Their kindness turned to rudeness. “Exclusive breakfast” my butttt - just go to the buffet.

Personnel: The staff are rude. Every so often you’d get someone so kind. Otherwise I felt they treated lighter colored people better than brown skinned people. I’m from Yucatán but born in the USA and the amount of times they’d ask “how did you get money to stay here?” Is ridiculous. Yes I look indigenous and I should no be treated any different.

Food: basic. Yucatán and Quinta too are known for their culinary arts. Sad that this particular place Doesn’t emphasize that enough. They give your basic pizza, burgers, friend chicken, fries. Food is any combo of eggs and pastas and some meat options. The alcoholic beverages are extremely watered down. They only serve one type of beer which isn’t good. If you tip $20 usd to a bartender they’ll make it extra strong. Being your own tumbler - they reuse the cups and find the way they clean them unsanitary. There were days we weren’t even offered coffee in the am. But there’s a coffee shop you can go too as well.

Massages: We paid for 3 massages and they gave my sister trouble for her paying in pesos and then the tip situation was immensely rude. The masseuse was rude and said she didn’t think her tip was enough and made sure to tell us several times. I should have taken my tip and left her nothing. There’s a difference between a tip and mandatory gratuity. We typically tip 20% in Mexico but locals who live in the area only tip less than 5%. We gave enough but maybe others tip far more and it wasn’t like my massage was with gold.

Rooms: The rooms are okay but who stays in the room for a while anyways? They give you a bottle of water and some beer which is nice. It wasn’t the cleanest as the toilet was leaking water and has some stuff. (We always clean the room upon checking in- I used to do housekeeping).

Pools: The pools are beautiful but there is absolutely no place to sit at. You gotta go super early and reserve your seats like way in advance. You’ll see chairs with towels claiming them and the people are no place to be seen. Annoying to the max when you wanna go lay out in the sun. You’ll see chairs claimed all day and night.

Entertainment was amazing. The shows are cool and dance parties. But very crowded so get there early.
Also, The staff aren’t allowed to eat or drink anything at this resort. They can’t even have a cup of coffee they serve! Can you believe that! Talk about being kind to your staff is a dud. Zero. I figured this is why the staff is rude. It’s because the owners give them no incentives.
Overall this is a crowded place and we went “off season”.
