Food is absolutely terrible. The menu choices are awful as well as the food quality. Nothing is fresh. You can tell the food has been frozen or just terrible quality. If you stay here plan on leaving the resort to find a decent meal.

Stay here ONLY if you wish to suffer from food poisoning.

My wife ate the squid ceviche from the buffet (only thing she ate that I didn't). It's day 3, she's still recovering.

An on call doctor treated her, over $500 US expenses so far. The hotel management will not comp her anything without a blood test.

There are facts and opportunities for this hotel to do the right thing. But they won't. Most disappointing given we LOVED it here prior to them poisoning her and ruining half our trip.

Very nice and comfortable all inclusive beach hotel on the wonderful beach of Cancun.

The hotel is not entirely new, but all parts are very well maintained and in excellent condition. We didn't notice any of the structural damage mentioned in other reviews, or it was ultimately very inconspicuous and in no way disruptive.

The stay becomes a relaxing experience thanks to the perfect beach and the extremely good service in the hotel. We would particularly like to highlight the beach team (Marcos, David, Sebastian, Ivan and everyone else whose names I didn't remember). The Mixology Bar (Antonio & colleagues) also goes far beyond the “normal” AI gastronomy standard.

From a European perspective, the hotel is recommended for 3 or 4 days of relaxation at the end of a longer, eventful trip to Mexico.

This was our second stay and we simply fell in love with this hotel. It is certainly not new hotel, but the comfort of rooms, service, style, food and amenities do make something so special about this Hyatt and this comes from someone who is so not easy to please and travelers 80+ nights per Year. Comfortable rooms with great quality of sleep and amenities, clean, services to perfection. Very friendly and service minded team, great food in all restaurants, great choice of drinks at the bars and evening entertainment that was not cheap and boring - from white party to cabaret shows. We just love to sink into this hotel and just be for a few days. The beach was wonderful as well. I do not have a problem to book a cabana few times per stay, but one thing I would say is missing is enough sun chairs on the beach if you do not want a cabana and more cabanas that are free. Also most people get up early and take space and are not there most of the day, even though I know it is hard to solve. And to be picky, more service on the beach, some days there were only 2 waiters and they could not manage the large crowd, especially on the weekend.

Our stay was wonderful, the staff was very friendly, always attentive, smiling and willing to help.

The room was very well appointed with excellent sea views and we were greeted with complimentary wine and chocolates. If you do HO, this place is ideal because it has an excellent Wi-Fi network and adequate furniture to work with.

The food was delicious, wide variety of meats, seafood, vegetables and desserts, the only thing that could be improved is the drinks.

All day there were activities such as yoga, foam party, salsa classes and night events, all in all a great place to have fun.

Finally, the spa is a beautiful place that we enjoyed a lot, it has a cost but it is worth it.
Thank you Hyatt for the beautiful memories! 🤩🤩

Amazing time! The staff is incredible and the food was great!

Excellent in every way!

Hotel location is amazing, rooms have a great view of the ocean. The food however was very average if you're a vegetarian. The menus from all of their restaurants has either 1 or 0 vegetarian options. They don't even make an effort to cater to vegetarian guests. Would never book an all inclusive resort ever again. Not worth the money

I want all my friends and family to come here - it’s got great food, quite possibly the best pina colada I’ve ever had, and they greet you with champagne. I was truly thrilled with our experience at this location.

The whole place felt old, like Atami in Japan. There are no particular points where I felt good about the software or hardware. A reasonable and average hotel.

How do I say how much I enjoy this resort. First of all this is my eighth visit. I've been coming here since before Hyatt acquired it. When Hyatt took it over, there was some disappointment because they removed a few amenities that proved to be too dangerous for people who drank too much. But what they lost, they added in every other fashion. Customer service that is ridiculously attentive. I am texted at least three times a day by my concierge letting me know the events of the day, the forecast and always asking if there's anything they can do. The rooms are beautiful but I am partial to the swim up suite. If you can afford it, it is the way to go and worth the upgrade because there's no hunting for chairs around the pool. None of that common resort behavior where the chairs are taken up by sandals or books or towels for hours while you sit looking for a place to relax. I walk out of my room and I am on the pool. The food is beyond!. Fruit so fresh you are stunned. Their idea of what we would call "well liquor" is Gray Goose and Belvedere. Every bar has special cocktails. Then there are the classes. Exercise classes, drinking and mixology classes, cooking classes. There is literally no way you cannot find something that you will enjoy. Not just the concierge, but the entire staff from bar service to housekeeping to the concierge do everything humanly possible to make you happy. Today was the one day rain was forecast so the planned Caribbean Carnival Beach Party was moved inside with a speed and efficiency you would not expect. There's always going to be somebody that finds something wrong but to be honest it is hard for me to say anything negative about this resort. Special shout outs to Ingrid, Jocelyn and Ana in the World of Hyatt Office and Jesus, Eduardo, Juan and Rossy in the wait staff / bar and of course Sergio who is keeping my room stocked with water, wine and snacks!! Honestly, it is not only the best Hyatt all inclusive, but the best all inclusive period in Cancun. I have tried the Excellence and Secrets and Sun Palace. I always end up back here. And we are already booking next February!!!

Your precious time vandalized by incompetent “hospitality”. Check 1-3 star reviews before booking.

I was taught how to tell good vs. “economy” all-inclusive resort: ask for tequila shot at the bar without referencing any specific brand, see what you get.

Zilara is a $20/bottle Casadores/El Jimador that sells itself as a $200/bottle Clase Azul/Don Julio. The irony is that Zilara bars display Clase Azul’s on the top shelfs, but these turn out to be empty, “just” ran out. Similarly, Hyatt web site displays immaculate ocean-front suite but gets you into a motel, “just” ran out of good rooms. The blue Caribbean waters still there :)
While shopping for a high price point all-inclusive, a relaxing and luxurious experience was expected, neither delivered. Felt as if someone stole our time and put spray paint all over the picture I was painting for our vacation – can still see the sand and the ocean but through a layer of paint, literally :)

The facts: The luxury ocean front suite turned to be low floor partial ocean view obstructed by next door hotel. Second day woke up to renovation noise, debris flying all over, construction draper covering third of the balcony. It was a planned renovation, not an accidental repair. The room was sold with defects known to the management. I requested a change and was told that there is no availability, and some may come next day. We got a room away of construction only on the last out of 4 nights.

We literally got cheated out of time we could have spent at a “proven” quality of Le Blanc or Secrets, at same price point.
Surprised by so many 5-star reviews:
1. Run-down look and feel. Attempted repairs over irreparable aging evidenced all over. The pillars that create its signature look feel older than Athens's Parthenon with cracks and paint chips. Patched cracked tile all over the hotel
2. Lack of shaded areas at the beach. Didn’t mind paying for cabana but had a day with no paying option available. At least an umbrella is expected to be available, OK to pay extra
3. Annoying timeshare pitches right at check-in. Can’t state as a fact, but wouldn’t be surprised firm “no timeshare, please” was the reason for getting room that should not have been sold at any price
4. Mediocre food. Meats and salmon at Spice buffet had a distinct smell of “stayed on display too long”. Very limited fruit selection. Dirty walls, cracked window frames…
5. Cheap liquor and lots of sugary sirop in the drinks, no wonder so many tables with “mimosa” orders next morning. Champagne vs. Prosecco mimosa recipe argument is moot. “Luxurious” $5/bottle semi-sweet sparkling wine is the only choice

All above makes me think 5-star reviews dominance may be a reflection of marketing department competency, wish hospitality was as efficient…

In summary, the Zilara left me feeling like I’d paid for a five-star experience and received a one-star disappointment. Spend your precious time somewhere else, explore other options.

My husband and I took our first ever trip away from our kids. Truthfully, it took some convincing for him - and now he cannot wait to return.

The food... I dislike buffets and even I loved Spice. Everything was displayed in smaller portions so it was constantly refreshed, fresh and beautifully presented - and the service in this restaurant was on point every time. Punta Vista had fabulous views and delicious seafood - and more wonderful service. Maria Marie gets the lowest ratings of all of their restaurants, per online reviews so, we were almost hesitant to go but, I'm so glad we did. Nicholas was an incredible server, suggested we try signature cocktails from La Adelita (which were delicious) and, after asking what we liked, suggested each course for us and we loved each one. My only complaint about any food- can we get larger coffee cups in the café?

And to get all of your dining plans in place, just go see Daniel, the Culinary Concierge in the Den. He will help you with dinner reservations, cabana reservations... pretty much anything you need. I made a cabana reservation for the wrong day and he fixed it with a smile and then asked, "What next?" He's a gem and, when you first check in and maybe feel a little overwhelmed, he'll get you all sorted.

We also enjoyed some spa time - and I'm picky about massages. I scheduled a deep tissue massage and Malu did not disappoint. Not long after she started she inquired about the level of pressure - I asked for more and she delivered! The facility is beautiful and relaxing. My husband has never been to a spa, was struggling a bit with his back and reeaallly enjoyed the Zen water journey and came out feeling a million times better.

If you're looking to escape, relax, indulge a little and leave all of your stress behind - this is the place you're looking for. (Just make sure to steer clear of the staff trying to sell you a Hyatt Club membership after check in.) You won't regret it - and you will absolutely come back again. I know we will!

One of the best vacations we have had for a while now. Beautiful location, amazing views, great amenities and the best staff! Every person from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, were super friendly, going above and beyond to make your stay memorable.
The activities were designed to cater to everyone's needs. We enjoyed the pool volleyball, salsa lessons and special events almost every night. Silent disco and DJ nights were good avenues to let out some steam late at night.

Drinks:
The Den has some amazing cocktails and a good ambience with some culinary experiences every day that you need to make reservations for.
The lobby bar and the bars at the pool are pretty good with excellent service!
Iceberg, Michelada, Tequila sunrise, Espresso Martini and the classic Margaritas were some of my favorite cocktails. Corona and Modelo are the beer favorites!
Do not miss the 1921 creamy tequila!

Food:
Spice is the buffet that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a good selection that caters to each of your taste buds. Most items on the buffet are on repeat every day, but the selection is large enough for you to choose and pick. Fell in love with all the salsas, specially the Chile habanero and Chipotle.
Punta Vista is a great option for lunch and dinner with some good ocean views. Tried the roasted octopus here for dinner which was a highlight.
Asiana has a teppanyaki dinner experience which needs a reservation. The show of skill was well complimented by great tasting food!
Marie Marie is the Mexican restaurant that serves authentic and super yummy dishes. Never got tired of the tacos.

Already looking forward to my next visit to Cancun and this beautiful resort! Good job Hyatt Zilara, your staff are amazing.

We visited last year and it was a fantastic getaway for parents – no kids in sight, which made it heavenly! 😂 The food, activities, and shows were top-notch, and the customer service was superb. They even offered us a free spa, though we skipped the massage. Now we regret it because the spa was absolutely breathtaking. Overall, it was the perfect escape for couples!

Beautiful view, great view of beautiful beach. Wonderful entertainment every night and good fresh food all included.

Honestly, we were disappointed during our last 2-week visit, Dec/Jan 2023/24. This was our 5th stay. Our previous visit was Dec/Jan 2022/23. Prices continue to go up, food quality/selection has gone down, and improvements to the facilities are still needed. After a couple of days we canceled a 2-week visit previously scheduled for February 2024 & decided to book instead at Ziva Cancun.

During the last day of our 2-week visit, I had a very nice conversation with the newest GM, Mr Rojas, who seemed genuinely interested in hearing our feedback. He was very open, acknowledged some of the issues & seems intent on turning things around. We’ve decided to go one more time for 2-weeks during Dec/Jan 2024/25 to see if we again feel comfortable to make Zilara our go-to spot in Cancun.

What wasn’t disappointing was the quality of the customer service we received from all of the employees, after an initial snafu with a World of Hyatt representative during check in.
The following employees really made a difference:
Ivan, Beach Butler Mgr
Janet Pool server
Maria Marie waiter Nicolas & Mgr Julio
Punts Vista waiters Juventino & Jose, & Mgr Efren
Concierge desk Monica, Ana, Ingrid, Jocelyn & Mgr Paulina.

Food is average.

I've had the pleasure of visiting this resort more than 10 times. What truly differentiates it is its unparalleled service. A special thank you to: Eloisa, Manuel, Ligia, Diana, Valdemar, Samanta, Jessica, Gloria, Alfredo, and Arturo for making this year's stay especially incredible.

The staff are amazing really helpful polite and courteous. There is entertainment every evening and it is excellent. For an all inclusive resort the food is very good. The rooms are a little dated but they all have ocean views and balconies so very good. I would highly recommend it
