This place is really bad service

I had an absolutely amazing time at the resort this week! From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. A special shoutout to Cesar and the entire entertainment team for ensuring that everyone, including myself, was constantly having a fantastic time. Their energy and creativity truly made my stay unforgettable. Can't wait to visit again!

Practically everything is super good, the only "but" we put is that the beds are too soft and suddenly you wake up with a bit of back pain

My partner and I had such a relaxing, wonderful time here for 10 days. The beachside infinity pool is the best! We watched dolphins and whales breach while floating in the pool!

The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and made this a very enjoyable experience. Lizbeth checked us in and took good care of us. Itzia’s lovely smile and Antonio at the pool bar always made sure we had what we needed. Eduardo, Antonia, and Enrique and all the staff working their butts off in the buffet and restaurants were really appreciated. Efren is so lovely and smiley, making us laugh numerous times.

Everyone on staff works so hard all the time; they are constantly cleaning and tidying and making the grounds pristine.
They have activities for families every night & numerous things to do during the day, or opt out and lounge on the beach chairs as we did. We would return for sure!

The location is great but our room has had many issues that were poorly addressed. Mostly in the bathroom... from the shower not draining and actually overflowing on to the rest of the bathroom floor to the roof leaking and falling in and add a hint of black mold on the ceiling...

Look, there is alot of good and not so good of this place. However as you can see the rating is 4 star. It's really more 3.5 , but I'll be generous.
The good:
Location is amazing. So close to Bucarias you can take a quick walk into the town and experience a more 'authentic' Mexico.
The beach here is great and the vendors that come to get you to purchase trinkets are not too pushy.
The hotel appears to treat everyone as best they can. We were in a beach front suite..and really this was central to everything and really made our experience. If we had been in the main hotel I don't know if our experience would have been the same.
The food ...this is the so-so of the experience. The buffet overall was, okay. The specialty dining ...don't even worry about standing in line for a reservation. It's just a variation on what's being offered in the buffet.
Where they make us for this is the individual taco/food stands thought the day. Authentic tacos ...soooo go!!!!
All inclusive drinks...this is where you will need to consider. The 'regular' plan includes alcoholic drinks of all sorts...but the brand of spirits being used is sub-par at best!!! Honestly ...no flavour, and might even be watered down. Okay...most likely is watered down. Here is where the 'altitude' club upgrade may pay off. All standard brands available of alcohol. They call them 'premium'. But really ...just standard.

The pools here are epic. 2 large family and the 1 adult only infinity pool. Plenty of room, just get a seat early. And stay there. They will at times remove towels from chairs if no one is there to claim the 'reserved' seats. Technically there is no lounge chair reserving.
This place is really situated well for family trips. Or older couples, just looking to relax.

Our room was a beachfront jr. Suite.
The room over all was fine. Bed was firm, and pullout couch had a 4 inch foam on added for our daughter.inimwl places to hang wet items.
Room was just okay. It really was the location that made it. Good placement, and was awesome listening to the waves all day and night.
Airconditioning worked well, but the fan was in the louder side. Even with that, would still take this room in a heartbeat!

Hope this helped even a few.

Great 3 week vacation. Big thank you to Cesar, Marco and all the waiters and servers

Everything is very good, the rooms are very nice and clean, everyone's attention is very good and, above all, Marco, Adrian and Ulisis are very friendly. Very delicious food and very well prepared drinks.

Worst food we ever had. Unfriendly staff, dirty room, we had to pay almost 2k extra to go to different hotel.

The time I had the opportunity to be in this place was as a service provider, and I do not doubt that the guest areas are fine, but the backstage part does not look good, which is the part that the guests do not see, and they are also Those who work there are a bit apathetic or maybe it was just a coincidence when I was there.

We have spent two unfortunate weeks here. On the first week we had the misfortune to stay in the 3000 block where our room faced the RIU palace's AC system that was running noisily 24/7 . The room was small and dark, musty with cheep polyester sheets on the bed and constant noise. A hotel this calibre should not have rooms like these. I made written complains twice ,nobody ever responded.I have been coming to Mexico for over 20 years and NEVER have we seen rooms like this. The second week we managed to upgrade to a garden view room. It was much nicer, however it was in the 6000 block where the delivery and garbage trucks were idling every morning from 6am on. House keeping was always late and never got any shampoo and conditioner . The only good about this hotel was the location and the food. The restaurants were very good but you had to wait in line every morning to get a reservation. The entertainment was good but never enough chairs to sit . There was no bar area for evening visits and drinks that would have been accessible for everyone, people with limited mobility could not go to the sky bar. People who stayed at the main building in ocean view rooms probably had a different experience however for the money they payed for those rooms I rather go to a RIU and have an overall great experience. I would NEVER EVER stay here again and recommend you spend your money elsewhere.

Modernize the rooms a little more, not be so insistent with the timeshare, improve the law firm

This is a great resort would definitely stay again!

Great location and all the staff were excellent.

Cesar from the entertainment team was especially great. Went out of his way to make sure our experience was top notch

Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone specially, if you like any kind of taste in your food. Food was very bland. Buffet was absolutely disgusting. We had problems with our room with our toilet leaking, Dirty bedding, And just cleanliness was awful. We also had money gone missing from our room and we just didn’t like our stay at this resort( by far the worst resort I’ve ever Stay in )Thank god for the beautiful weather we had tho

Beautiful pool area, food was good. Housekeeping was very poor; didn't provide basics as needed and although the beds were comfortable, the sheets were merely thrown on the beds and didn't fit. Bathroom was the size of a postage stamp and no extra toilet paper and one washcloth although it was obvious 2 people were in the room. Servers at restaurant were very nice and helpful ( The Grill) Pleasant tours need to revisit their brochure and ratings. I would NEVER stay here again
A "2" at best, not a "4". I hate giving this review because I know some employees work hard, but this is the worst place I've ever been

Great place and location , Food variety was excellent .
The entertainment and activities were great , Thanks to Cesar and team for the great effort they have put in to make our stay enjoyable.

I don't regret my choice, eight days, no complaints. The staff was very friendly at all times, the pools were very clean, the food was pretty good, and the drinks were the same.
The room is nice and clean. In the early mornings everything is quiet, you can sleep well.
Nothing was missing during my stay.
Thank you, I will surely return.

Detailed review ahead & if you want even more info please read my review from last year!
This is our second stay at the Krystal Grand Neuvo Vallarta that’s how much we’ve enjoyed it here! This experience was completely different from our first & in the best ways. If you’re curious about the hotel itself, I again recommend reading my first review because I cover more of that. In this review, I want to highlight the staff. The people here work incredibly hard to ensure everyone has a great vacation. So often people forget these employees have 300+ guests they are taking care of. they can’t make everyone happy but Cesar of the entertainment staff does an incredible job at accommodating everyone. He really made this trip extra special for us, he made my partner feel practically famous around the resort! He goes out of his way to not only remember your name, but make sure you’re having fun. I’d also like to mention Rafael, Ulises, Carolina, and the other members of the entertainment team.
The last time we came we only ate at The Grill for dinner, so this time we made a point to try the other restaurants! The Ayami restaurant was amazing, totally slept on it last time & wish we did one more night at this spot! The Hacienda however was a disappointing experience. We felt completely forgotten about by the staff there. We never even got an appetizer, and after 45 minutes after the main, someone asked what we were waiting around for & we had to ask for the dessert. Food was still good though but can’t say anything about the appetizers because we didn’t get one. The buffet is alright, the breakfast always rocks but dinner can be hit or miss & never went there for lunch. The fish tacos are where it’s at, & we had traditional paella on the resort one day which was incredible! They also had watermelon on a stick this time around they would offer which was cool.
We also found the housekeeping staff did a great job of cleaning the rooms, even better than last time but we are always careful to leave our shoes at the door to not track sand inside.
The night entertainment was also much better this time around. Casino night was absolutely packed, the Fire Show was so cool, the traditional Mexican dancers were phenomenal, we loved the experiences they provided! We had so much during the day getting in on the dart tournaments, corn hole, volleyball, and more. The sports bar also has a pool table which was a blast!
Overall, another amazing time at the Krystal Grand Neuvo Vallarata & I’m sure we will stay here a third time. A lot of your vacation is what you make of it! So remember that when staying anywhere in the world, even in your own backyard.

Overall a decent resort versus the price. First resort I have ever been to where there was no welcome drink etc, that said the check in process was fairly smooth although we did have to return to get our towel cards.

Pools were nice, one for family and one for adult, staff were good about reminding guests that children were not allowed to be in the adult pool. Special shout out to "Marco" at the adult pool for policing the chair game and helping guests to find a chair at the pool, this guy has the patience of a saint and would regularly remove towels from chairs that were empty for more than 45 minutes. That said, much like most resorts there is always a challenge in finding a chair at the adult pool or on the beach. Service at the pool area bars was good overall, although the blended drink selection was a little underwhelming.

Restaurants were decent, Mexican was best with Italian coming in second according to our group of 8 adults. Service in the buffet was hit and miss in regards to drink service etc, although if you tip well and regularly you get attention. Beach was nice, with the typical stream of vendors, but that is to be expected in a public area.

We paid for Altitude club, top shelf liquor, no waits for restaurant booking, and access to the special lounge, plus free room service delivery. My only disappointment, was that the altitude lounge stopped offering hard bar once it hit the evening.

Not much going on here for adult entertainment in the evenings, no dance club etc. There was an event every evening at 8, but that was it. The evening bars (rooftop and sports) lacked enough chairs and tables to serve more than 30 people at a time, which is a little light given the number of rooms.

WIFI, extremely poor. Very slow, poor coverage, basically it was slightly above dial up speed depending upon where you were and how many guests were trying to access it. In today's day and age quality WIFI is a standard expectation and not a luxury item, invest some money and get a decent MESH system installed.

Gym was about what you would expect at a resort, some light free weights (up to 50 lbs) and benches with a single cable machine. There were a number of cardio machines available and an area for yoga or whatever. Fairly clean, although I saw very few staff in this area during our stay.

Pool bathrooms could use a little more attention throughout the day due to the heavy use, while staff tried it seemed like they were still overwhelmed.

Room service, decent selection but very slow in delivery. 45-60 minutes was standard delivery time, and food always arrived cold.

Overall decent value for the cost, but definitely room for improvement in terms of the number of service staff on the cleaning and room service teams.
