"This was the third time we've been to an all-inclusive resort, 2nd time to Punta Cana. First time at this resort & we would go back!
We had the Majestic Junior Suite with the 'swim up' pool access right from our patio. Highly recommend this type of room! Don't know if it was a special deal, but it only cost a little more than the regular junior suite when we booked it, but we got a 2nd jacuzzi on the patio (in addition to the one in the room) and room service was included (apparently it's not included with every room). Loved having the pool right outside. Our room was in the middle of the resort, near the pool bar & where the loud games take place in the middle of the afternoon. We usually like the quiet so we expected to find the noise annoying. But we were pleasantly surprised to find it didn't bother us & we enjoyed watching the fun from our patio. Some of the finishing touches to the resort need a bit of repair and are showing some wear, but it wasn't anything important or dangerous.
The food was good, nothing mind-blowing, but nothing to complain about.
The grounds were beautiful & the beach was perfect. The resort has beach waiters/waitresses which was a nice touch (didn't have this at other resorts we've been to).
The shows were the best we've seen at an all-inclusive.
On the evening of our 2nd or 3rd night the lock to our sliding patio door broke. I stopped at the front desk on our way to dinner to tell them about it and by the time we were back from dinner & the show it was fixed - better than when we arrived. Nice to know they are on top of things.
As a couple the room was great, but a warning to anyone sharing a room with shy/mixed company - the bathroom is open to the rest of the room with the toilet & shower each in their own separate stall with a fogged glass door.
We had read someone's review that recommended paying for the romantic dinner on the beach. $100. Worth it!!! " [...]

"Travelled to Punta Cana during Easter week - weather was fabulous and the hotel, which our Escapes travel agent (Nancy) suggested. The hotel is large but not hard to get around. We had a room in the block closest to the beach on the third floor overlooking the beach somewhat (we had only "requested" beachview and got one of the best rooms - overlooking the pool AND the beach). The beach is to die for ! Lots of waves. The staff at this hotel work really hard to keep things clean and make your trip as pleasant as possible. We ate at the buffet all of the time. The staff there were superb! Stephanie is THE person to talk to - she is so funny and happy all the time. Food was good and lots of selection. Rooms were big and clean and did not smell musty. There were some mosquitoes but not enough to be bothered by them - we had brought repellant with us. My husband did not get bit at all and I had a few on the legs - until I figured using the repellant at night to go out for our dinner. The shows to see are the Circus show and the Michael Jackson show. The entertainment crew worked hard to keep everyone happy and amused. I would recommend this hotel for couples or friends wanting holidays spent on the beach relaxing." [...]

"The Majestic Colonial resort is one of the best resorts we have ever stayed at. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The grounds were lush and green with flowers blooming on the hedges all over. The beach was amazing! The sand is very clean and the water is a gorgeous blue and the water was nice and warm. The 400m pool was very well maintained in comparison to other resorts we have been to. There was aquasize classes two times per day and most of our group of 31 people participated during the week.
The buffets were well stocked and the food was good, but as a typical buffet a bit bland, but expected. The beach buffet for lunch had stations where you could have panini sandwiches and wraps made to order. The entertainment at night was good, the karaoke, the theatre shows and the disco later at night. We tried the Steakhouse, Mexican and Japanese restaurants and all were good. Some of our group went to the French and Seafood restaurants and they enjoyed the food there as well. Victor at the pool bar was awesome and very entertaining. He kept our drinks full the whole trip.
We spent some time at the market just outside the front gate of the resort and went on a few excursions, ziplining in the mountains, a safari tour and to Santo Domingo. Overall the best vacation to date and the resort was a big part of our enjoyment. We would certainly return!" [...]

"I have been to many resorts, none under a 4+ star, and this was by far the nicest resort I have ever been to. It is definitely 5 star or more. The staff were incredible. They had drinks ready as soon as they saw us coming and we never had to wait. The swim up bar was the best spot for drinks.
We had an upgraded room which I think was a Majestic Suite. I suggest when booking to spend the extra money for the Majestic Suite or the Colonial Suite, make sure it doesn't say JR suite. It was well worth it. We had 2 balconies, as all of these rooms are corner rooms. We had one balcony that overlooked the ocean through the palm trees with a bistro style table. We had another balcony that was easily 30X20, with our own loungers and a private spa, unfortunately we couldnt get hot water in it during our stay, so we filled it with hot water from our jacuzzi inside and then let the sun warm it up through the day which kept it at medium temperature which was perfect for sitting in at night.
The food at the resort was excellent. All buffets were average, but with food that would suit anyone. Tons of variety. The a la carte restaurants I would suggest taking full advantage of because they're amazing. I had my best meals at the Japanese restaurant, and the Seafood Restaurant. I would have eaten there every night if there weren't so many different spots to try. We also went to Guest Services and paid $175.00 US for a 4 course meal on the beach with your own private table, personal waiter, personal musicians, and they decorate it beautifully with rose petals and candles and also give you roses to take with you. That was probably the best meal I have ever had in my life, and well worth the money.
The grounds were beautiful, the pool was amazing and at a PERFECT temperature. I will go to this resort over and over again and take as many people as I possibly can. Oh, also I am not sure if it was the upgraded room, or because we're Canandian (I heard both), but we had a gray wrist band, which means we got premium liquors free. We did not have to pay extra." "Went on March 15th. Very friendly staff, beautiful grounds, this is truly a five star hotel. Some confusion with the wrist bands as only some colours get premium beer and wine etc. The food is usually great with lots of variety at all settings but main dining room has toasters from the middle ages. Beach and the pool are spectacular, great for swimining or lounging. I would go back again." [...]
