Our Opnion

Ideal resort for families of all ages. Facilities are nice, clean and well-maintained. A great mix of food items in both the buffet and a la carte restaurants. The resort set up definitely caters more to kid-friendly activities, so there is never a shortage of things to do. The beach area is great, with the exception of some rocky parts felt a few feet from shore. The drink menus are OK and vary in quality, as they very rarely served top-shelf alcohol. Overall however, this is still a great resort option for families.

I left the privacy please sign on the front door and later found housekeeping in the room cleaning. I asked why they were in they when I asked for privacy and she said someone must have flipped the sign. 2 days later it was around 9 pm and Housekeeping knocked on the door 3 times, I didn't answer and they came in the room. I couldn't believe it.This happened twice. The sign wasn't on the door and Housekeeping was already there earlier in the day. I did not appreciate them just coming in the room for no reason. The gift shop is over priced. $13. for a pack of cigarettes, $17. for a bag of chips.

Excellent hotel in all its services, cleanliness, staff attention, care of the place and environment, quality in food, a paradise to relax, rest, have fun with the various amenities and festivities at night, in its different restaurants everything is delicious. Enjoy wonderfully. Thank you El Cid Marina Hotel, Ventus, Ventus-Ha. 🌷⛵❤️

Employees look happy to meet you, very friendly service! I would go there again!

Bed bugs. Also food poisoning at the buffet. Customer service to schedule dinners / activities is great. When you have problems, that service seems to dissapear.

Not good for swimming in the ocean. But has a good pool.

Good hotel in Pto. Morelos in the Mayan Riviera

Wow!! If you want to experience the waters, food, music and culture without speaking the language this is the place for you. Best Spa facilities of el Cid IMHO.

It was super incredible, an unforgettable place, the attention and the dream rooms.

The good, the not so good, and the ugly…

To start, our overall experience at this resort was great! The food was fantastic and plentiful. And if we got hungry and didn’t have dinner reservations, room service was readily available (and included in the cost of the resort)! The resort property was absolutely beautiful and there were lots of pools to choose from. We didn’t travel with kids, but if you do, your kids will certainly have a great time also! We had access to all of the pools and restaurants at all 3 resorts and great appreciated the adults only areas! We didn’t make it to the shows every night but those we did see were very entertaining.

Our room was beautiful and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. We also had a ceiling fan in the room which is a big deal for us! Lol

Most of the staff we encountered were very welcoming and friendly and made us feel at home. I said “most of the staff”…see the end of my review for the rest of the staff.

The not so good:
The location of the resort left us with no cell service for most of the time we were there. The WiFi is not free anywhere in the resort (and is extremely expensive to purchase).
Getting reservations for dinner is very difficult. And if you don’t want to eat at the buffet every night you HAVE to have reservations.
The adults only pools do not have enough chairs around them to accommodate the volume of guests. Other guests were saving chairs at the pool and the same number of chairs in the shade which left less seating for others to enjoy.
If you’re looking for a beach, this may not be the best option for you. There is sand and water and chairs in the sand, but the water really isn’t swimmable outside the resort.

The ugly:
We had a very horrible experience with one of the time share salesmen. After sitting through the presentation with a wonderful hostess, we politely declined after seeing the $185,000 discounted price tag (with $68,000 deposit due that day and the rest financed at around $3,200 per month for 5 years.). The hostess left the table for a few minutes and the man she brought back with her tried to strong arm us into staying for more presentation and was a complete jerk to us when my husband told him we were not interested. His behavior was way out of line - he should have just let us leave when we said no instead of trying to scare us into buying the timeshare.

Word to the wise - just tell them you work for a hotel or an airline and they will leave you alone because you are not eligible for their presentations.

Even after all of that, we would return to this resort because everything else was with the price and time. 😊

Nice new and clean hotel, thanks to the staff. The restaurants have a large selection, everything is fresh and tasty. Everyone is kind and friendly. Stayed with my family for 5 days 4 nights. I will definitely come again.

February it is a little windy to be on the ocean front. lesson learned.

The service is what will keep us coming back year after year.

This place is awesome. I wish I would had brought my kids with me, they would loved this vacation. Spent 6 nights there and enjoyed every single day and night. Lots of activities to do, the food was amazing from all locations. The pools were fun with activities for all, including just enjoying a swim. I can’t wait to go there again.

Everything was amazing! Staff are friendly. Beds were a little small for 2 grown adults to sleep in. If they offer upgrading you might want to if you like your space. They said it would be another $600 US funds to upgrade. We opted out and I tried sleeping on the bed that folds down which was extremely hard. So the sleep wasn't the greatest for the week but everything else really made up for it. Great drinks and amazing food! We brought our two kids who are 10 and 13, they both can't stop talking about the trip to Mexico and how amazing the resort was! We were definitely impressed and would like to visit Marina El Cid again.

My review after staying a week at the Hotel Marina El Cid with my family in January 2024. My kids loved it and we enjoyed our time but this place could be wonderful if it did a few more key things right. Ultimately, I'd give this resort a 3.8 stars out of 5.
The good stuff first. The Pros:

1. The staff. The staff. The staff!!! They are wonderful and work so hard. From the bartender making banana smoothies for my toddler son to the gardener who cut a coconut for me to drink, everyone works really hard to make sure you're having a wonderful time.
2. The gardens and grounds are just beautiful and wonderful to walk around at night.
3. The grounds have iguanas, crocodiles, baby turtles and bats. My kids loved it!
4. The main buffet was nice for breakfast and Mercado de Dolores was a WONDERFUL buffet for lunch and they even opened it up on Wednesday for a Mexican-themed dinner.
5. The barbecue they did one night outside while we were there was fantastic. They had so much food and drinks and cotton candy. Great marachi versions of Abba playing. It was so cute.
6. They have a place to do coin laundry for about $8 (soap included). It's great thing to have for a long stay.
7. The price of the hotel is good and decent bang for your buck if you're on a budget.
8. The bartenders were wonderful and creative with their drinks. Sometimes I just had them surprise me and what they came up with was great!
9. The view from my balcony was so calming and nice. We had a nice beach view and a nice view of the gardens.

Now the cons. The Hotel Marina El Cid resort would be absolutely perfect if it had:
1. A better dinner buffet (please just open the wonderful Mercado de Dolores buffet 7 nights a week for dinner) because it's pretty miserable for dinner options if you're not at a reservations-required restaurant. We are totally spur of the moment-type people (you have to be with kids) so being restricted to a time for dinner doesn't always work for us.
2. A snack shack where you could get candy and chips. There are areas, but they are only for platinum members. Even a bag of chips or gummy bears in your room would go a long way.
3. Served hot breakfast for room service.
4. Updated the facilities in the El Cid side. Our toilet broke twice (they needed to get a new part for the handle/plug) and the shower handle would slowly move to go from the hot water side to the cold side. Also, they had trouble with the plumbing so the hot water wasn't working once. (Though they resolved all these issues pretty quick due to a wonderful and attentive staff).

Nice to haves but not deal breakers for us:
1. A better beach. We still played in it and they're doing the best they can with it (constantly cleaning it) but if you like the clear, turquoise beaches some resorts have this isn't it.
2. Better toiletries that you might need like a disposable razor (my in-laws got these but they were platinum) or sunscreen/after sun that some other resorts we've stayed at have had for us.
3. Some on here said internet isn't free but we got it free while we were there.

We just recently stayed at El CID Beach Marina and it was AMAZING! The people and service at this resort truly went and beyond. There was so much to do and the activities at the pool were super fun. I felt very safe and loved that we could go to any of the other El Cid resorts easily by shuttle. The food at the buffet and restaurants was delicious. Room service was nice but the food was just ok. The water taxi to the beach was quick and easy and the beach was clean and beautiful. We will definitely be back. I can not say enough great things about the staff and service. Thanks El Cid for making my long birthday weekend unforgettable. Angel, Ricardo, Leonardo and Ivan deserve a shout out, thanks guys for all the fun!!

Lots of pools. Lots of sun. Lots of food. Lots wildlife.

Poor food, poor selection, poor taste no internet the one they give you for free dosent work, you have to pay $100 for internet, one small buffet for the entire place with very poor food selection
we travel with the group of 16 people no one was imprest...

We visited this Hotel in September 2023 and I recommend it 100%, the hotel is beautiful, the view of the marina is spectacular, the heated pools, the food in the specialty restaurants is delicious, the attention of the waiters both at the pool and in the club. Very good beach and restaurants, very nice beach club, we did not go into the sea because it is only for people who know how to swim well and are not afraid of the sea.
