Our Opnion

One of the best family hotels in Punta Cana. Melia Caribe is a large resort, with a beautiful beach. The resort has very attentive and personable staff that will cater to your needs. They are also notable for their kids' club. Those who are partial to walking would enjoy staying in this resort, as its relatively large size also means distances between one area of the hotel to the other.

This Resort is ****NOT SAFE ***************

After being at Meliá caribe for two nights- I experienced symptoms of a bacterial infection & possibly parasitic infection.

I was severely dehydrated & in bed with diarrhea for 3 days. I was then rushed by ambulance from the resort to the hospital in Punta Cana.

The doctor advised me irresponsible food handling and/or unsafe drinking water was the cause of this.

I was admitted to the hospital for two nights & three days. I was on several types of IV antibiotics (around the clock) I am still on antibiotics in Canada & am still very ill!

This is not something to mess around with! It was 6000$ USD for the hospital. Please head my advice & for your safety avoid this resort! Especially vulnerable people- children, elderly, etc.

I feel badly if this review poorly affects the good souls we met on our travels, but it is more important to be honest & keep people safe! Please 🙏 understand the severity of this & avoid this resort!

It was my intention to only drink bottled water, but there were several instances when “they were out” and the only drinking water that was available was whatever was being poured & served.

There are other less important things I will briefly note: We could not make a reservation for any of the restaurants (as the resort seemed to be far over capacity), as previously mentioned bottled water was not always available/accessible, The “level” is overrated (many guests who upgraded informed us of this.) The overall cleanliness & health & safety of this resort is questionable at best. There are many hidden costs at this “all inclusive” My husband & I felt numerous times, our kindness was taken advantage of & we were scammed out of money.

Lastly,

The hotel did NOTHING to rectify the experience we had. After being made aware of my hospitalization we were asked to fill out an accident report & received no other explanation, or compensation! We were in so many instances treated with apathy.

And I think there is a deep issue with corporate culture of this resort. Respect your staff & clients. I felt dehumanized by my time there & I am having trouble sleeping at night. I replay how awful the whole experience was when trying to sleep….it was traumatic for me.

This was critical. My life was in danger. ⚠️ so please, God willing, may this reach the people who NEED to read this! May this reach the people who it could save having my experience or worse.

This was not an accute illness, this was & is severe.

I loved the shows, the service from the guys around the pools was excellent. Everyone very friendly. Messrs. Siomara Herrera, from the moment we arrived and throughout the stay she was a sweetheart, from day one super attentive and very friendly. I loved his good vibes ♥️

Rivera restaurant was the best. They treated my mum so well for her birthday, sang and danced for her. brought a cake out for her, decorated the table. they literally treated us like royalty. it was so beautiful. Ramon Sosa was so kind and great. Alexander and Mary were amazing. The service was outstanding. Truly amazing people

PLEASE READ: Real and Honest Review

Absolutely appalling experience at the Mercato buffet and Capri restaurant. The food was a disaster - tasteless, stale, and barely edible. They give you tap water, except for bottled water just at the bars. Alcohol was the lowest-shelf-possible type. The staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional, showing no regard for customer satisfaction. To top it off, the pool waters were disgustingly dirty, making it impossible to enjoy any aspect of the supposed 'luxury' experience. SAVE your money and avoid this “Resort” at all costs.

To make our experience more uncomfortable, staff asked us for our room number and our stay details SEVERAL times because we are Hispanic. We saw the same staff treat white people with more courtesy by not asking them the same questions. We felt heavily discriminated. We should all be treated equally.

Maria Fafa is a wonderful waitress that did a great job for us. Friendly and professional. The lobby bar Caribe. Melia Caribe Beach is the 5 star

Osvaldo and Mayra at The Shaker bar were the best bartenders. Management is lucky to have them! Thanks for the delicious drinks.

Osvaldo is the best bar tender!! He desires a chance to show his talents through out the resort. Management is lucky to have him on staff and he needs to be acknowledged.

Shaker bar is the best. Osvaldo and Mayra are the people to see!

Daysi, Hostess Kilsi and Captain Wanda were so nice to us. We hope to return to the Hancienda restaurant.

The beach is very good... The facilities are nice.... It is recommended at 💯. In general, I really recommend you without hesitation... The effort should not be underestimated... There will always be things and situations to improve... I cut the soles of my feet and there was no nurse on site...

Mayra and Raymer are the best bartenders, great time, five stars!

We ate at Cape Now for our first sit down dinner and it was wonderful. We had reservations at 6:30 we were late to our reservation as my wife read our time wrong we got there and were able to get seated.
