Melia Jardines del Rey Vacations

Cayo Coco, Cuba

The beautiful Melia Jardines del Rey in Cayo Coco is artfully designed to mimic a traditional sugar plantation. The 1176 room all inclusive beautifully fuses new and old, with ultra modern amenities and bungalows that provide spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea. A standout is the boulevard that stretches from the lobby to the beach, where guests will find the hotel's main attractions, including restaurants, activities, handicraft stalls and more. This breezy oasis is situated on a generous stretch of powdery white beach, surrounded by lush gardens and towering palm trees. Four sprawling swimming pools offer guests scenic spots to unwind.

Location: Flamenco Beach; approximately 15 km from the Cayo Coco airport.

Not a bad place but there is a lot of cracks in the pool. Not many options. But very good beaches and very big rooms.

EWWWWWWWWWWWWW! I booked a vavation here, and they refused to do anything. I swear there was some smell in my room when i came back, i checked the bathroom, and there was a smell of mold and somethign else. I checked the toilet, and that's where i found it. A mix of feces and whatever other substances. I swear I saw a couple dead spiders in the shower. I saw hair still in the shower, probably from the previous users. The beds had no pillows and they REFUSED to give me anything unless, i gave her some huge tips- and I mean HUGE, up to a hundred dollars. I think i gave more tip money then i paid for the vacation itself. After tipping her, she said there were no towels availabe, but she went into the back and grabbed a towel. I thanked her and wondered why she there were none available. When i stepped out of the shower, i realised what she meant by there were no clean towels. IT WAS DIRTY! I layed down, hoping for a peaceful night of sleep. But i realised soon that my neighbours sure werent goign to sleep anytime soon. I heard wierd noises all througout the night. I think they were clappign their hands for a performance on TV or something. They sure clapping for a long tiem though. When i woke up, they were still clapping. Must of been great show! Im gonna ask them what they were watching, wafter i finish this review. I hate it here. I cant wait to leave!!!!!!

Stayed at this resort for a week, and it was well worth the value paid for the trip!

15 minute shuttle from airport made it a very convenient location.

The beaches were stunning! There are rocks on some parts of the shore (it is the ocean after all), but easy to avoid if you pick a spot accordingly.

Food was good, some highlights were a 24h snack bar and churro cart. They also had a pasta, fried rice and grilled meats station that made it particularly enjoyable.

Some of the best mojitos I’ve ever had… although sometimes the bar was missing some things like cola or mixers other than “punch”… to be expected though when in Cuba.

Staff were all exceptional in terms of friendliness and service. The only thing I noticed was that staff were relentlessly flirting with young women, and some odd items were going missing around the resort (like multiple pairs of shoes went missing, someone’s phone, etc…). Just keep your wits about you and you’ll be fine

There was nightly shows, and a variety of events such as a cave party, and a beach party. During the day there was entertainment such as pool parties, Zumba and volleyball. The shows ended around 10pm, parties around 12am… they were in areas away from the accommodations so that those who didn’t want to partake wouldn’t be bothered by noise.

Didn’t check out the bowling alley or the spa, but they seemed nice. There was also a bus to a nearby market.

We booked through sunwing, and the rep was on the resort at the times noted, which made it super easy to book excursions and gain information about travelling.

Overall, I’d recommend this resort.

My experience was good in general, but I consider that the service could be much better, and the supply of drinks and liquors should be more extensive, since only low-range rums from h.clud and 2 mid-range whiskeys to drink, no They don't have extra menu either, good entertainment, the pool where the chou are made is very poorly attended [green water] while the other pool is excellent, the truth is, the management staff is excellent and the salespeople and childcare girls are very attentive.

My experience as a customer at Melia Jardins del Rey was very satisfactory, good service, good gastronomic offers and quality products...I hope to repeat

Good facilities for recreation. The attention of the workers is the best. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. We like food. They also have good options for children. We will return soon.

Good attention from the hotel workers. The pools are wonderful. The special animation. We hope to return soon.

Friendly stuff no exception . Eimée the housekeeper in bloc 16 is a very liable person. Good food, drinks and animations.

We recently stayed at Melia Jardines Del Rey in Cayo Coco for a 7-night all-inclusive vacation, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory or enjoyable.

Firstly, the food quality was extremely disappointing. There were long lineups of 30 minutes or more just to get a plate of pasta, which ended up being subpar. Additionally, we didn't receive water in our room for three days, and when we requested it, we found out from someone on the resort that if you leave money in the fridge you would get basic amenities like water. It worked. It's unacceptable to have to pay extra for such essentials, especially when the water on the resort isn't drinkable.

Furthermore, after talking to some of the the service workers, we found out that they are grossly underpaid, some earning only $30 CA a month for some of them. This low wage likely contributes to the lackluster service experienced throughout the resort.

The 24-hour snack shop was a major letdown as well. If you were lucky, you could get some french fries, but even then, the options were limited. Thankfully, after being prepared, I had brought my own condiments like ketchup, salt and pepper. I was told to bring condiments but didn't expect food to be so scare. Thankfully I brought some snacks along with us too.

The portions at the evening a la carte meals were light and not very tasteful. Breakfast options were disappointing, with mushy foods and a lack of basic items like toast. There were no eggs to be seen, just omlettes, but the line up was 30 min long unless you got there early enough. If there was bacon available, it was gone within minutes, if you weren't there right away 7am. Once gone, the buffet failed to replenish it. Diced Ham and sliced ham was present every day. When there was no bread, it was basically rolled up with thin pieces of cheese. This was the main snack every day and fries sometimes.

The nightly entertainment was mediocre, however, it was disheartening to hear that the performers weren't adequately compensated or even fed on the resort. I even had couple girls ask me to get them food in the evening after a show. My husband and I were also approached near the pool one day too by gardeners.

On top of all this, the rooms were not up to standard. They didn't feel clean, and there were issues with the shower backing up, doors not locking properly, and bugs in the room, including the relentless black flies. I was forewarned about the no see ums but forgot bug spray.

Overall, despite the Beach, pools, and having great friends on the trip and a couple planned outings off the resort, my experience at Melia Jardines Del Rey was not as enjoyable as we would have liked it to be. Despite reading reviews beforehand and setting low expectations for the food, the resort reality fell short for me. The numerous issues with service, amenities, lack of food, and cleanliness made for a disappointing vacation. Air Canada who promotes the all inclusive vacation really should have their own team stay 7 nights to get an experience before they advertise the trip.

Everything is very correct, they are very professional in the treatment of clients, please continue like this, my greetings to all the hotel workers, every night very good music and for the children, games and children's music, I am having a wonderful time

Went in with low expectations based on reviews and was pleasantly surprised - we had a great time! Just a few notes to help you prepare:

- If you are an early sleeper make sure you request a room far away from the lobby. They play music until late at the lobby. We were put close by and it sounded like the DJ was INSIDE our room. We were able to switch the next day because the hotel was only at 25% capacity. A bit annoying after unpacking but we were put by the beach with no problems and it was much nicer.
- The common area washrooms often have no toilet paper. I kept a pack of tissues with me at all times.
- Many of the bars are often out of certain drinks. Just roll with the punches and order your second or third choice.
- Most of the staff are extremely kind and helpful. I was met by a few rude waiters/bartenders but made sure to keep going to the ones who put in effort with a smile and tipped generously.
- The food was plentiful and we always found something delicious. My partner and I both got sick for one day however - we were thinking it was the pizza.
- We received beach towels on our first day but many did not. Pack an extra towel just in case.
- We always left a tip in the fridge to make sure we received water bottles and beer every day. You can always bring a reusable bottle and get it filled at any of the bars and restaurants.
- The beach is probably the nicest I’ve ever seen with crystal clear water, many shallow sand bar, and incredible sunsets. Bring water shoes or be careful where you enter though as it is full of coral.
- There is a schedule posted near the buffet with activities for the week. We found that many of these activities didn’t happen. It would’ve been nice but didn’t bother us. You can play beach volleyball at any time and they play music/dancing at the party pool at 3:00. Sometimes dance lessons on the beach.

If you are easy going and looking for a beautiful beach, nice grounds, and great weather, this is the place for you!

Very satisfied with our 2nd one-week stay in 2 years. The beach is simply fantastic, even if there are a few shells on the part where you enter the water.
More and more staff speak English. We had very good service, it’s a matter of smiling too and thanking them; they will recognize you and will always be happy to serve you again (even after 1 year).
You must express your needs and thus increase the probability of obtaining satisfaction. This will be done to the extent possible because their ultimate objective is our satisfaction in order to welcome us again. The work and lives of many people depend on this industry.
People work very hard and they deserve our respect. Certain items are sometimes missing (restaurant, bar, etc.), but don't forget that hotels are still stocked before premises
At the beach bar, even if he's angry, you'll always be greeted with joie de vivre by Joël, he's the best! + he speaks French👍
At the beach restaurant, which is fantastic, you will be satisfied by the experience and the dynamism of Mariemar.
As for the Safe Shop near the lobby, Nelly's gentleness and big heart will charm you.
We will come back as soon as possible❣️😎🥰

Very good hotel in Cayo Coco taking into account what to expect in Cuba.

I appreciate the attention of my fellow countrymen at the Meliá Jardines del Rey hotel. Greetings to the 24-hour Snack bar as well as the guys at the Reception and the Lobby bar. I hope to return this summer.

I liked my vacation at the Hote Meliá Jardins del Rey. The special room. BQQ restaurant is the best ever. We hope to return.

I am satisfied with the service and the quality in general in everything...the food is very varied and with quality...everything is very comfortable...congratulations, keep it up

Shout out to server Thalia and Adalberto in booking is fantastic.

This was our second visit to Melia Jardines del Rey, and it was fantastic again. It is our favorite of four resorts we have visited in Cuba. The staff here are the most friendly in Cuba, which is saying a lot, since all Cubans are always so friendly.

We enjoyed our room, the food, the beach, and all the amenities of the resort. The grounds are lush and beautiful, and the local flora and fauna provided many opportunities for pictures.

We highly recommend you visit this resort. You will never be disappointed.

I never ever write reviews but this resort definitely needs one. Everyone complaining about this resort in any way should be ashamed. I’ve been to Cuba NUMEROUS times and this is the best resort I’ve ever been to before. Please trust my review because it’s pure honesty. The entertainment staff goes BEYOND out of their way to make it the best experience ever they’ve done an amazing job which kept us entertained all week. The bartenders are the best, so sweet with exceptional service. The maids do an AMAZING job cleaning, and the rooms are exceptional. This resort has the nicest rooms we’ve been to. Extremely clean, never any issues. The front desk was extremely helpful and great. All the staff at the Melia jardines del Rey has went beyond expectations. The food was honestly the best we’ve had in Cuba yet, stir fry was delicious, pizza, ham and cheese everything was great. We didn’t notice any shortage problems the hotel did EVERYTHING they could to make the stay as best as possible. They’d run out of coke sometimes but they had other alternatives. The pools were beautiful and had pool parties from 3-5 which were SO much fun, it was a BLAST. On Thursdays they had a beach party which was perfect we had so much fun. Our group felt extremely safe and comfortable here , walking at night or anytime. Thank you Melia jardines del Rey for giving us the best experience yet.

Everyone is wonderful vary kind it’s beautiful here and a lot of variety of pools the weather is amazing and there is a show or something to do every day
