Our Opnion

The Occidental Caribe is a larger resort set on a beautiful beach. This resort has been popular for years but at this point could use a refresh. The rooms are older with dated furniture and maintenance being an issue in some of them. The grounds are lovely and there are 2 large pool areas as well as a kids pool. Some suppliers rate this as a 4 or even 4.5 star resort. We think its probably more in line as a 3.5 star. If the price is right that can still be a good option but if you are looking for a true 4 star or better, we would suggest a Riu, Barcelo or Iberostar resort.

Punta Cana has a warm semi-tropical climate but is tempered by eastern winds. It rarely rains during daylight hours.

we had the best time ever and such good service at hibachi! Luisanna Gonzalez was so kind and provided us with the best service we have experienced all week!

The attention is truly SPECTACULAR!! The location is very beautiful, the hotel is very organized, clean and the food is delicious, the 5 restaurant settings that must be reserved, add a romantic tone to the visit.

This has been such a bad experience. I am beyond disappointed. They say you get what you pay for but I have paid over $1800 for absolute terrible service and experience. I was so looking forward to vacation. From check in and sitting in line for over 40 minutes, no greeting with drinks or even a water. Dirty bathroom and no working ac. From not being able to eat because the options are absolutely disgusting in buffet. From restaurants being overbooked and them trying to deny you at the front for a reservation. From excursions being 2 hours late. I am beyond upset and hungry. Will never be back. Didn’t come to an all inclusive resort to starve for the week, yet that seems to be the case. Not even taking advantage of the drinks because I am sick.

I really liked all the luxuries of the other, it is beautiful, all its facilities are beautiful, the entertainment girls are the best, they connect very well with the clients, thank you for all the attention, especially Smurfette.

The resort itself was very nice and kept clean. However, they opened up the whole resort to partying college kids, which ruined the family resort feel. The service was horrible to find help, and the there was no security for all night noise (screaming and yelling until 4am each night). The food was horrible most meals, and it was difficult to even get a glass of water. The beds were uncomfortable and the shower flooded the floor every shower. The ocean view was beautiful but that is available at other resorts. I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

The beach itself was sandy with plenty of chairs and shady areas. The quieter pool was well kept and clean, with towels easily accessible. The overall resort was very clean with beautiful landscaping. Good selection of restaurants; French and the seafood and steakhouse were excellent. Fantastic view of the ocean from our rooms.

The resort employees were all very friendly and greeted us with welcoming smiles. Ms De La Cruz at the front desk went out of her way with much kindness to bring our family in two side by side rooms. The lobster dinner on the beach was an incredible experience, thanks to Rafael, Stiwar and the cooking staff who did an amazing job hosting. The entertainment staff was very friendly. A special mention to Yohan Rodriguez, Victor Sosa and Milagros Montes, who made the trapeze experience so much fun; muchas gracias from Maria Claudia and Rose Maria from Canada !

The invasion of spring breakers was quite the experience with a whole new level of noise until 2AM daily. If this resort continues to welcome spring breakers, management may want to consider having them stay in a dedicated area of the resort to limit interference with families looking for a relaxing holiday.

Non functioning safes and difficult to open patio doors should be fixed; those are must have amenities for all guests.

This was actually the worst vacation of my life. Our bathroom was infested with bugs and I found a cockroach. We requested toilet paper multiple times and had to go two days without it. They never actually clean the sheets and the AC barely works no matter the setting it is on. I got food poisoning and have never experienced something so bad. It hurt to even look at the food after it. We went two days sharing one water bottle between 4 guests and asked for more multiple times and they said no. It seemed like they were intending to get people sick so they could overcharge them to purchase any sort of medicine or to seek medical care. All of my room has red itchy dots all over them and we are not sure if it is bed bugs. Also they insisted we couldn’t leave the resort until we gave them this checkout card that we were never given at check out even though we returned all keys and I was told we were all good and checked out. One of my friends and I almost missed our flight because of it. DONT GO HERE!

Worst hotel I ever stood at. Do yourself the favor and avoid. Not even worth the cheap price. Food garbage &&& room is worst. No towels. Rooms filled with mosquitoes. Broken phone. They agree to bring you your items and never do.

Checked into my room. The tub was filthy. The phone jack is torn out the wall. The phone doesn’t work. The deadbolt on the door doesn’t work. The rooms are outdated. Told a staff member at the front desk. She said she’ll have someone come clean the tub but we won’t be able to get a new room until tomorrow. I feel like I’m in a motel. The buffet food wasn’t good at all. Literally cannot wait to leave. do yourself a favor and find a resort that’s nice and clean with prompt service

Everything was perfect, the people's attention was excellent except for a little problem with the showers, special mention to the attention of Antonio Bautista, very cool.

The place is nice, without extravagant luxuries, but nice. However, it lacks staff and cups for breakfast!! Incredible!! You had to wait for them no less than 20 minutes; The beautiful toast that you prepared for yourself, got cold.

We had the ask 6 different people over 2 days to get towels, toilet paper and for our room to be cleaned. Worst experience ever. I will never stay at this hotel again. We got to vist the new occidental caribe so much better. It sad when we went therez the staff said they hear bad things about this hotel
