Noemy, Julio and Ángel gave us excellent service at the México Lindo restaurant. Attentive, helpful, and with a very nice personality.

The Occidental Cozumel is beautiful and the atmosphere is very calm and happy.

Naomi, Julio and Angel were very friendly and attentive. Meal was very enjoyable

Noemy, Julio and angel took great care of us tonight for dinner and went above and beyond service expectations!

Noemy and Julio and Angel were amazing.

Loved the service! Tried one of the restaurants and was attended by Norma, Julio, and Angel. Very kind and very helpful in choosing food. Even though the resort is small, service is some of the best I’ve had!

Awesome service by Fredy, Miyul, Luis and Bety, great food, great Mexican fire coffee !!!

Stay away from the sales people at this hotel selling the Occidental Vacation Club, we fell for this scam and paid $25,900 USD dollars believing we were going to save money over time… In most of the cases rates to the public are less expensive, many hotels do not offer first club and the customer service is lackluster… Go to goggle and read the reviews from other customers… It is a total scam

The rooms are nice and clean, the grounds were nice as well. Most of the staff were friendly. The worst part about the place is the food. Seriously, they had shredded hot dogs for the omelet if you got “ham”. The rest of the food was exactly the same everyday, little to choose from, and mediocre at best. The worst part is when I checked out, I left my room at 12:05 and took my bags to the front desk, told them I was out and said I had to go get my wife, they said “no problem” then when I come to check out they stick me for $20 for a “late check out”. Don’t worry, I won’t be back, too many good places in Cozumel.

We had an amazing time. 7 day trip. Airport shuttle to start and a very welcoming check in staff. The bracelets are thin and double as your room key!
Every meal was delicious.
We went to the Mexican night with Noemy and her lovely staff. The churros were delightful.
We also went to the seafood night on the water and that was just stunning. Perfect way to end our trip.
Every bartender and server treated us with so much kindness. We definitely found the drinks strong enough to do the trick.

The concierge booked us scooters for the day and that was truly a highlight.

Thank you occidental cozumel for a wonderful week.

Guadalupe pays attention to detail and is very kind. Always smiling!
La Carreta has amazing food too!

In the coral restaurant Fredy, Miguel, Luis, Angel and chef Chacón went above and beyond. We were treated to 2 amazing nights. We had the extra treat of Mayan coffee on the first night and banana flambé the 2nd. Thank you for making our experience extra special!

Like the beach and the sorounding. The staff is great. 💯 Will come back

Of the three specialty restaurants at Occidental, the best service was at Olivos from Aurelio, Edwardo, Jorge, and Juan. The food was great. Relaxing atmosphere, as well.

A lot of noise from very early (before 7 am) when you go to rest, moving furniture and with a machine to collect the leaves from the floor, the rooms without a refrigerator with the heat it is and much less we had a trash can in the room. room.

Very comfortable and pleasant room, very good lunch and dinner, breakfast is not very varied.

Beach must have washed away few years ago. Restaurant reservations are horrible. A/c barely worked 25-26. Occidental Xcaret is way better.

Believe the reviews about the food—even by all inclusive standards, it is not great. Very limited choices, especially at lunch, and little that’s appetizing. One of my teenage boys, who’s not usually a picky eater, has mostly subsisted on candy and chips bought outside of the resort. We’ve been to a handful of all-inclusive resorts and the dining here is by far the worst we’ve encountered. The seafood restaurant was better than the buffet, but still only average. The service has been hit or miss, sometimes prompt with drinks and other times without drinks brought until the meal is half over. The main restaurant is hot inside and can be very loud, especially when seated next to a group that’s been over-served.

Contrary to other reviews, our room is fine and the AC works well. It’s dated but clean and reasonably comfortable. None of the rooms seem to have any view, though, due to the jungle-like setting so it can feel a little dark and closed in which was unexpected for a beach resort.

The main pool gets crowded in the afternoon and there’s been more drunk bro type of behavior than expected (even making allowances for the fact that it’s spring break) The beach is calmer and quieter, albeit with limited shade in the afternoon.

We have been trying to find the positives during our stay but the terrible food is increasingly making that difficult. We’ll make the most of our time here but definitely won’t be back

Not sure how this is rated a 5 star resort. Quite literally the worst all inclusive we've ever been to as a family. Save yourselves and go somewhere else.
Run down barely functioning rooms.
Positives was the resort is really treed and jungly. Otherwise is a hotel that is in need of some serious upgrades to rooms and staff. Most were good but there was definetely not enough staff.

In theory, I feel I came to this “resort” to realize that not every experience in Mexico will be pleasant. This was by far the most disappointing experience & visit to date. I did not feel welcomed , comfortable, or at the very minimum on vacation in my 19 hours there. I ended up requesting a refund for the remainder of my stay and honestly it should be a full refund. I not only didn’t get the room I requested, I barely got food and was unable to utilize any of the amenities.

I do not want bring race into it but I couldn’t help other than to notice the treatment I received in comparison to other people there. Even as early as check in, I watched other guests receive drinks & my receptionist barely made eye contact without laughing/having side conversations with her coworkers. The room I was given wasn’t the one I requested. I was told to come back the next morning to be moved. Also, When I arrived I was told the beach buffet closed at 5pm and when I walked down to the beach at 445pm the area was already closed. I was starving and hadn’t eaten since prior to going to the airport at 5am. At 6pm I attempted to go into the dining buffet and was turned around because the guy felt my outfit looked like a swimsuit. It was the same outfit I had on since 5am and traveling. I’d never wear a swimsuit to the airport. Anyway, I put on a cardigan in my suitcase just to get food at this point only to come back to eat with people in actual swimwear/shorts/cut off shirts. I was sweating profusely because my blood sugar was low and I could barely eat. So I left the area to avoid fainting & just had a protein bar I forgot about in my bag.

Later I spoke to the front desk and told them my experience. He was unable to make a reservation in any other restaurant in the resort for me to actually eat then. So A manager came and offered to let me eat in the “vip” area. He then reserved dinners for the next 2 days. By that point I was turned off by the whole resort. I decided then I’d like a refund and would be finding other accommodations. I was told to speak to another manager in the morning to process a refund.

In the morning I had a “tour” based on a package I bought at the airport. The young lady attempted to take me in the regular buffet area but the line was long. That’s when I ended up in “The VIP” breakfast I actually paid for. It was a small selection & many items I don’t actually eat. So I only had a croissant and about a couple pieces of sliced fruit. I had to specify only 90 minutes for the tour because the guy doing the closings wanted to “show me more.” I did receive the “gifts” however it ultimately wasn’t worth the time.

I checked out officially at 1045 am. The manager did approve to process my refund but refused to give me hard copies of the paperwork showing that he did. I’ve never had a resort/hotel refuse to give me documentation of refunds/credits. So I had to take pictures of the paperwork myself.

The good: In general, extremely friendly and helpful staff (with enough English to accomplish whatever is needed). Clean rooms (no dust or hair or stains anywhere). Beautiful landscaping. Delicious, fresh fruit/vegetables (papaya, cantaloupe, pineapple, mango, grapes, avocados (in the form of guacamole) tomatoes, etc). The air conditioning in the gym (one of the only actually air conditioned spaces in the resort). The sauna (very hot).

The mediocre: The beach (much less of it than the pictures would have you believe). The drinks. The entertainment. The disco. Some of the food. The equipment in the gym. Reservations needed for the sauna.

The bad: The rooms (absolutely terrible air conditioning (wouldn’t get below 24c (75f) and at least as humid, if not more, than outside), moldy smell, all linens/clothes constantly damp/impossible to get dry). The food (95% of it truly not good and drowning in “butter flavored” oil, way overcooked seafood, most dishes at buffet seemed not fresh (leftovers from other buffets or restaurants).

Unfortunately cannot recommend this resort and am shocked that they call themselves 5 stars.
