Prime location but rooms are very very old. I would probably not stay there again but the condos do have everything you need. Safety also only felt OK. Lots of chickens across the property and no clearly direct beach access.

We found this room last minute for the night. We appreciated the late check in.

The bed in the room was OK, however the place needs some updating. The plaster ceiling crumbles onto the table. The bathroom is peeling everywhere. Cleanliness also needs to be reviewed.
For one night it was very good but it's a little overpriced for the dilapidation of the place

A bit aged place but in a great location. Very centralized to the island and next to a great market.

After visiting Kauai for over 40 years, this was our first time at the Plantation Hale, and came away impressed. It was older, there was traffic noise from the highway, the air conditioner in the bedroom was loud and noisy, and we did not get the pool view as stated on the reservation, but the room and beds were clean and comfortable, parking was close to the condo, and we were within 150 yards to the ocean and walking distance to The Coconut Marketplace with an ABC store and shops and restaurants, as well having a Longs Drug/CVS next door, and a Safeway, Snorkel Bob's, and the rest of Kapa'a walkable or a short drive away. We had an upstairs room with no pool view, but a view of the ocean from the lanai across an open field to the east. The furniture in our unit was comfortable, with a dining table large enough for eating, cards, or jigsaw puzzles. We cooked breakfast and dinners daily, and we're used to nonstick pots and pans, but the stainless steel cleaned easily. We used the gas grill by the pool twice for dinner, snd it was just on the opposite side of the building. Chances are that you will encounter traffic most mornings or afternoons in the area, but Costco and Target were only 20 minutes away, and the Lihue Airport and Walmart were less than 15 minutes away. We made reservations less than 3 weeks out, and the Plantation Hale was probably the least expensive condo when we were looking. It's not new, it's not elaborate, the beach is not really swimmable, but the location is convenient and makes it accessible to most far reaches of the island in less than 1:30.

Close to the airport and very close to a nice strip mall with lots of shops and a great Island Market. Staff were on hand for our late check in due to a late flight. That’s about it for the good stuff.

Room was old, dirty and in poor repair. On asking what the surprise $25 “amenity fee” was for, the lady at the front desk just chuckled and didn’t answer. Who knows what it’s for? We weren’t there for very long and didn’t receive any “amenities” aside from the usual hotel stuff like towels and toilet paper in the bathroom and sheets on the bed…

Served its purpose for one night before we checked into our actual spot. Would not recommend.

This is a decent beach hotel. Amenities are older, rooms are spacious but need some tlc. Some hot tubs work, others do not, and filled with sand. The benefit is being in such a good location for launching other activities, but be aware of the road noise. It's a place to stay, but not necessarily relax.

Great place to say and a we got a really good rate through VRBO!

When you go to check in at the front you're directed to another desk around the corner that basically looks like a giant walk in closet. Apparently there are different check ins based on if you reserve directly with the property or not. I was welcomed by a giant roach when i walked in. At some point i found another one in the bathroom and a grub on the LR floor. There was mold on the shower curtain and ceiling. The tub had a ring around it. Yellow stains on the towels. And stains on the sheets. Fortunately these were at the bottom and top edge of the bed so i could avoid them. I looked for clean sheets to change them. After all of this the host accused me of doing all of this and breaking into a cabinet. So after 2 weeks I'm still dealing with this hassle. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. The area is close to restaurants and shopping but those are the only pluses. Oh and apparently leaving dishes in the sink is a no-no here even though you pay $142 for cleaning

If you’re expecting luxury, you might be disappointed, but I would recommend this place to anyone else. The suites are fully stocked, roomy, clean and there are lots of cute little shops within walking distance. Truly felt like a home away from home

Love this little spot. On the east side, it's pretty much an even ride north to Hanalei or south to Poipu. There's food within walking distance, and the water is just across the road. Lydgate Beach and the Helemakalea bike path are minutes away.

Not the best spot to stay at. Rooms are old and dated. Has an old motel feel to it.
Service staff was ok. They are not too clear on fees and amenities. I was on the phone with a staff member and they said they are going through some staffing changes and said they haven't been very good about explaining everything. It's unfortunate as I was charged a resort fee afterwards. I did book through a third party. Would be nice if I knew the cost of my stay upfront instead of being charged fees afterwards.

Not the most comfortable stay. I would avoid if you are bringing kids. Luckily this was a hotel stay just for myself.

Rental was put thru by a third party and our reservation was not showing up. They had gotten the email but no one applied it. Luckily they had a room available.

All you need. Great location and nice staff. I can only recommend it if you don't want to spend your Kauai vacation in a luxury resort.

Nice place near the market and walkable to the beach.

Good solid choice 👍

We love this area.

Disappointed from check in to room quality & amenities. We arrived at 3:45p & told check in was at 4p so we waited around Front Desk. We were nay given keys until 5p & no one arrived after us to check it, it was just us waiting for our unit. The unit is a disaster. It smells of mold, the cabinets are rotting, the popcorn ceiling has water spots, the paint is bubbling in many places. Went to the jacuzzi & it was like sitting in old bath water, barely warm, low water level, & the jet would barely bubble for 15 seconds every 2 minute. Disgusting. The only up side to this place is the location & walking distance to beaches & shops.

I attempted an early check-in at around 10 am since my flight was very early. However, there were no available rooms until the standard check-in time at 4 pm, which is understandable (though a bit later than other hotels). The girl at the front desk, unfortunately, I didn't get her name, was very kind and accommodating. So, I decided to spend some time at the beach until check-in.

But when I returned around 4:45 pm, there was a different front desk attendant, I believe her name is Alana. She informed me that my room was still not ready and couldn't provide an estimated time, even approximate time. I was exhausted from my flight and beach day, and I had hoped to get my room by at least 4:30. I was quite disappointed with the hotel's lack of management in this regard. Furthermore, Alana's attitude was unprofessional and cold, lacking any apology or sympathy. She simply stated, 'We have a high volume of customers today.'
Supposedly, she was supposed to call me when the room was ready, but I received no call by 5:30 pm. So, I returned to the front desk, where she finally issued the room key. Again, no apology, no 'sorry for the inconvenience,' or even polite conversation. She handed me the room key without a smile. Honestly, the hotel should consider letting her go, as she seems unhappy working there and doesn't know how to communicate with customers.
Additionally, the room itself was quite dated, with several broken and worn-out fixtures.

Little outdated, but comfortable none the less!!
