Cozumel, Mexico
Not everyone wants an all-inclusive holiday so the Playa Azul is a great alternative if you’re seeking a smaller, friendly hotel. A family-run resort, it offers bright, spacious rooms and suites for up to five people! Golfers love the unlimited golf included at the nearby 18-hole Cozumel Golf & Country Club. Everyone loves the location overlooking a pretty sand cove and the bright turquoise ocean.
Location: Directly on the beach, 10 min from the airport.
Our Opnion
A gem of a resort with great value. The Playa Azul is a modest little resort. Despite being a little smaller than most of the major resorts around the strip, there is no shortage of quality and luxury. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive, and there are a variety of activities to do within and outside of the resort grounds. The food is OK. It is recommended that travelers explore other options with regards to food. Overall, an amazing hotel for its value.

Not as good as it used to be, but a good beach.

Very nice place to visit without staying at the hotel. Access to the olaya costs $200.00 MXN for adults and $100.00 MXN for children. When consuming at the restaurant, the access payment is deducted from your final account. The restaurant closes at 5:30 pm. Highly recommended.

The Playa Azul hotel is a dream, the service is excellent and the people working there are laid back and kind. Special shout out to Guadeloupe and the other kitchen staff for making my birthday so beautiful! Their care and efforts to make my day special brought tears to my eyes! The beds are comfy, the food is good and the beach is steps away from your room. We will absolutely be back. Thank you Playa Azul for all you’ve done!

My husband and I were very happy with Playa Azul. We spent a week there and snorkeled everyday easily 2 to 3 hours. It was so convenient to just walk out of our hotel room into the ocean, and there were a lot of fish all along the shore. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was delicious. The hotel was not modern but had all the essentials. Thank you, we will be back!

Excellent place to enjoy and relax with a beautiful beach with plenty of sand, great for snorkeling.
The buffet is nice

I went to this place to take advantage of and use the beach club and I really liked its location, the food and the attention of the staff. At the entrance they charge a cover of $200. Pesos that include use of parking, use of toilets, use of lounge chairs, the cover is refundable on your total consumption. The coconut shrimp and Caesar salad with shrimp are delicious. I highly recommend. Bring your own goggles or visor and fins to swim.

They are nice AI flows in harmony everything beautiful

We booked 2 nights at this hotel, the rooms were very clean, the bedding looked new, they have several amenities and nice details in the room, the hotel is somewhat rustic but comfortable. Their prices are a little high but I found a more or less adequate price from their website. Web.

In general the service was good and they were attentive, the location is good approx. 10 minutes from the center and the Ferry by car.

We paid for the stay with breakfast included, which was good but their hours are only from 7:00-10:00 am after that hour they will charge you, so they take that into account. And they have a bar and restaurant, it's too expensive there. For 2 dishes and 2 drinks it was more than $1000 mxn.

Pros: It has a beach right in front, only it is small and it is not worth trusting if you do not know how to swim, since there are stones, I recommend using aquashoes and a UV shirt, and definitely a snorkel.

Cons: Foreigners tend to monopolize the lounge chairs very early, putting their towel and book...

- Outsiders can pay for a day as a "beach club" and use the same facilities, which I don't like very much because in the end other people come in, it gets more crowded and there is less opportunity to use lounge chairs, etc.

- The water in the pool and jacuzzi is cold.

Stayed at Playa Azul for 4 nights in February. Lovely little hotel! We wanted more of a quaint experience without the frills and this hotel was just the spot. Rooms were cleaned well and you're provided bottled water daily. If that was not enough water, you could always fill up for free in the dining room. Guadalupe was our main server at the restaurant and she was very nice and accommodating. Yassir at the front desk was our main go to person and he was always exceptionally pleasant. We did sign up for a dive through Blue dreams and the staff was also very nice. Viciente must be the most laid back man in Cozumel!
The beach is a little bit small but very sandy, unlike the beaches right next door. We specifically picked this location because we read there was decent snorkeling right off the beach. It looks a little drabby, but if you are good in the water you can find all kinds of gems. We found a 5 inch snail, a school of needlefish, a really neat worm, a couple of barracuda, some rays, a porcupine (or puffer) fish, and of course other fish. Be aware that as you swim further out towards the reef, there's a pretty strong current though. We had fun in this and would just swim far to the left, go to the current, and do a speed snorkel down towards our hotel.
We are clearly not the only ones that like this spot because I heard someone say, at least every day, that they would see the staff again next year. Clearly a lot of regulars come here.

Very good place to eat and drink something, its tranquility and sea view are excellent.

The views are beautiful, the rooms are... fine. The food is also fine. The staff are kind one-on-one. Unfortunately, I cannot leave a positive review. On my third and final day at Playa Azul, I took a beach chair. 45 minutes later I was harassed by an older couple claiming I was in "their" chair. The front desk confirmed that there was no such thing as reserving a chair, but was unwilling to take down a formal complaint. I then went and confronted the couple again, at which time the man moved to grab me. Again, I went to the desk, this time shaking, and they offered me nothing and would not write down a complaint. If you are an old white man, I'm sure you'll have a good time here. The rest of us are better off spending our (actually hard-earned) money elsewhere.

Beautiful hotel, professional team.
The sea offers a beautiful playground for seeing underwater life.

Clean, quiet, friendly staff, 2 restaurants with great food. Amazing beachfront view and private beach. Thoroughly relaxing stay.

We stayed for 1 week. The morning all inclusive breakfast had a great variety of eggs, meats, vegetables, fruits, sweets, breads and cereals as well as juices and coffee. 7am-10am daily. Servers were always friendly and accommodating.
Lunch and dinner menu was the same. Food was fresh and delicious every meal. Between $30-$50 for two of us.
Beds were comfortable. A/c was excellent as was the hot shower. Maid service was very good every day. They provided 2 liters of bottled water every day. Very important as it is used for brushing teeth as well as drinking water.
Pool was chilly. Ocean was lovely. Ample comfortable seating provided. Enjoyed playing billiards and shufflepuck.
Loved the small intimate feel of this place and would stay here again.
Was very quiet and safe area with nice walking paths.
Highly recommend the Lobster House restaurant across the street too!
Taxis are easily accessible and it’s about a 15 minute ride to downtown for $10. The tours we went in were further and cost $20.

Lovely clean hotel about 8 minute cab ride from Centro. Lovely staff and service.

I love going to this place. You have a great time.

I didn't stay but we went to spend the day. They deduct your income (200 pesos mx) if you consume.
We had chairs but no lounge chairs because they were occupied. The beach has practically no sandy area but it is a very good different experience! You can see many species of fish, ideal for snorkeling! The water is impressive, warm and transparent.

We didn't stay at the hotel, but visited the restaurant for an early lunch and beach. The restaurant has very good good and service. We had chicken quesadillas and fresh squeezed fruit (orange and pineapple) juice. The service was very attentive and the prices in line with others. All prices are up significantly in Cozumel, as to 3 years ago. The beach and pool areas looked great. It is a very popular hotel for golfers and I think that is it's main focus.

We had a great time at this affordable, easy to reach hotel just north of central Cozumel. The staff were always helpful in getting taxis when needed. We had a massage at the spa on property and loved the scuba shop. The tamarind margs and included breakfast buffet were amazing! Would definitely stay here again.

The place is beautiful, the facilities are very comfortable, the beach is very beautiful, you can snorkel and see many fish.
The service is very unpleasant, it is the eighth visit on December 24, I arrived with my family, we consumed 6 thousand pesos, the waiter demanded a 20% tip, I know that the tip is optional and I left them 15% today, which is December 26. I returned with my wife since we like the place a lot and the waiters ignored me, I had to go to buy them the beer as they did not want to serve me, how unfortunate that the attitude of the waiters is not appropriate.
