An honest and fair review - stayed at this place a couple times when owned by Caesar’s and had mixed experiences so thought based on a comp room offer I’d give it another shot under new ownership.

To start hotel checkin - honoured the comp room from Caesar’s but changed the room type to a basic king. Got offered a premium room for 40$ a night extra, despite being told my original reservation would be honoured.

Got to the room and checked in, very dated room with no hot water when we tried to shower. The tub was full of mould around the corners and the bathroom counter had long blonde hairs despite me being a guy with short hair. Room was the worst out of any Rio stay before and there was and still is dried blood on the back of the bathroom door.

Casino experience - everything closed from shops to entertainment options. Half the slot machines were out of service. Decided to sit at the bar and have a drink or two. My partner ended up having a bug in her drink from the bar and the two bartenders were joking with each other about failing a health inspection…. We later came back and found that the bar was closed officially and staff were checking the bottles behind the bar with flashlights. Absolutely disgusting to still serve customers while knowing there’s an issue.

Gaming - every other casino off strip including the two right next door offer 3:2 blackjack at lower than 25$ limits. Here there was no such thing… even the pit manager stated she thought it was ridiculous and that’s why other properties are super busy right next door compared to them. She said she hoped the new ownership would change that but has been disappointed. When ever your pit managers are saying the odds are better elsewhere I don’t have to say anything else about gaming here. Downtown, Ellis island or even the casinos next to the Rio offer better bang for their buck.

Staff were all friendly - Asian cusine was good - went to the Indian buffet around 7 pm and were the only ones there, the hostess who was on her phone when we walked in admitted the food may be stale and to take a look at the food before we decided to eat, we did and it was clear why she suggested that, we walked out.

Overall the worst Vegas experience I’ve had to date. Take your money elsewhere.

My recommendation if you stay here is to walk across the street (10 mins away) to the palms or the Gold Coast for gambling.

Stayed at the Rio on Oct 28th the rate was paid in advance $225.57 for the night. When I checked in the clerk said that the room was paid for, but I still owed a $98.00 Resort fee. Nowhere in making the revervation did it say anything about a resort fee. Not sure what the resort fee was for. There was nothing resort like in this hotel. No room service. The pool was closed for renovation, the workout area was closed for renovation, the room was a good size, but not outlets in or around the nightstands for cell phone charges or C-PAP machines. If you pulled the bed out from the wall and unplugged the lights and clock you could use those. No coffee maker or microwave in room. we had to go down stairs to order food, and wait for it to take to our room. They would not let us order over the phone and come down to pick up. The one order of nachos and 8 hot wings we ordered were not great, and cost $45.00 before the tip. Wallpaper in bathroom was pealing off the wall, and the fire alarm went of 2 times during the one night stay. The front desk said not to worry about it, it was on the 4th floor, but we were on th 9th floor and it was hard not to worry about a possible fire on the 4th floor. I gave this a generous 3 stars just for the size of the room. Service was terrible, and food way overpriced in both restaurants we tried for the quality and taste. The $98 resort fee was criminal. I have had better stays at Motel 6.

Stayed here in the UPDATED ROOMS. The room was so pretty! The updated double room came with a couch with an attached chase lounge and large living room table. Beautiful view of the strip, 2 sinks (1 inside the bathroom and 1 outside), open shower with handheld shower head, and lamps with USB and plug ports. Has a mini fridge inside as well. I will def stay here again when I go back to Vegas. Oh, and FREE parking!!!

Rooms were not clean - bathroom has a smell and rooms very dated. Most restaurants were closed on a weekday or in the day and it feels like a ghost town. Weekends are livelier with comedy cellar and more people.

It was the best hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at in Las Vegas

Worst hotel to stay in Vegas. Better stay at a smaller motel closeby.
The room was clean and renovated but neither the wifi or the landline phone in the room worked. After speaking to their customer support and tech support for almost 1 hour, I had to walk down to the reception twice to ask for help. The helpdesk agent Veronica as unhelpful as they get. She lied through their teeth about asking technician to come to the room and fix the issue. When I asked to speak to the hotel manager to get the room changed, she lied again and said manager was on a phone calls so cannot meet right now. I would request my corporate booking agency to avoid this hotel remove them altogether from the hotel list on Amex travel.

Casino shows age now. A lot of issues as new management has taken over and just began changes

This hotel turned into a dive hotel.

Had a blast at The Rio!!!

I found and had no issues whatsoever I think someone just had a bad experience 🤷 but the Rio is good. Stayed there for going to Raiders game. Was near the stadium and the strip. I'd stay here again.

It's cheaper and the rooms are larger than hotels on the Strip, convenient for a Las Vegas hotel with a refrigerator, and parking is free.
However, there are Las Vegas hotels, and check-in is no good. There were over 100 people in line but there were only 3 counters. It was a bit painful to wait in line for over an hour late at night.

Hotel under construction. Was not advised when booked rooms. Had to stand in long line 3 times at front desk/check in due to Room keys not working. Was awaken at 0600 in the morning by demolition construction crew. Water was shut off could not shower use restroom. Told by front clerk water would remain shut off till 1 pm. Wasted almost 5 hrs trying to remedy situation. Finally relocated to different room. I paid for 1 king size bed. Was given a room with a queen size bed. Hotel would not budge on compensating me for the inconvenience. All slot machines were out of order.

Terrible, dirty, mold in the showers both times, both rooms. Will never stay there again

Check-in experience is horrible, I really hope they get this sorted soon.
The hotel is undergoing a full renovation at the moment so many of the rooms are quite dated, including the fancier suites.
Hotel's position is quite distant to the main strip which is good/bad depending on if you want to be within walking distance or driving distance.
The good side to that is you are less likely to get stuck in traffic travelling to/from.

I checked in on Oct 06 2023 for 4 nights. I do not recommend to say at this hotel.
Our room is disgusting. The couch has so many stains on it that I had to get an extra bed sheet to cover it before using it. The carpet and the furnishing are so badly worn out. The Slot machine areas are 50% closed down and out of service. The retail spaces are 50% closed down. The pool and spa areas are completely closed. The weight room this morning had towels on the floor and smelled musty as it got flooded. This hotel is a 1.5 to 2 star hotel only, AT BEST.
I stayed here about 5 years ago and it was good BUT now it is a run down DILAPIDATED place.

Steve
.

room was clean but no towels or shampoo or wash clothes.
hallway wall paper held up with black duct tape.
a bit disappointing. maybe should have stayed at the "other" Rio .... but can't say for sure.
high priced restaurants with mediocre location.
used only as a place to sleep. 🙄

The room was cleaner than I was led to believe from many mediocre reviews. The service other than maid service was pretty much non existent. I had to ask a casino pit-boss how to find the elevators to my room.
The casino was busy but not so busy that I had to wait for a seat at a black jack table. The tables have $10 minimum during the day and $15 minimum at night. Lots of other casinos have $25 minimums.
Many of the shops and restaurants in the resort were closed.
All I wanted was a decent cheap room and a blackjack table to belly up to. If you want more there are better resorts but this one is reasonably priced and clean.

Reservation took an eternity. They only have 2 registers opened and a massive line without being concerned for their customers

Worst Hotel stay in Las Vegas ever! The furniture and decor look like it was from 1980.
